Chapter 32: A Ride Back to the Capital

In the distance, there were also some imposing white mechanical cannons.

Even though I couldn’t understand how a cannon with no barrel holes could fire, its big-bellied shape made me think it had to be a cannon.

I figured this was what had bombarded the castle and nearly killed me.

I turned to look at the twin castles not far away, riddled with damage and smoke. It was afternoon, and the bright sunlight gave the ruins an apocalyptic feel, yet also a sense of warmth.

“It’s really beautiful… even shattered, a castle is still a castle. Gorgeous!” I exclaimed.

Many soldiers were also gazing at the castle like me. Weren’t they tired at all? Wasn’t war supposed to be exhausting?

Combining that with what General Cloud had asked me earlier about others, I thought… It was very possible that all the demons in this demon city had fled, which was why so many soldiers hadn’t shed a drop of blood. So most of them definitely weren’t tired!

“Oh well, I’ll ask the general later.”

Just then, I felt someone staring at me.

I turned around.

“My god!” I blurted out involuntarily.

Turns out the horse under me wasn’t an ordinary horse, but a unicorn!

“It’s a unicorn!” I stared in amazement at the mythical creature that had only appeared once in Harry Potter.

I wanted to touch its head, but my arms were too short.

“You’re so beautiful,” I sighed, but the unicorn ignored me and turned its head away.

“Alright, I don’t have the ability to understand mythical beast language…” I was a bit despairing.

“Everyone! Quiet! From now on, we’re heading back to the royal capital! Assemble immediately!” General Cloud ordered. The soldiers quickly gathered, some boarding carriages, others mounting horses directly.

And me! I was riding a unicorn! Hmph! A sense of pride swelled in my chest despite myself.

Maybe because of the long oppression, my threshold for pride and happiness had become especially low…

“Sherry, how are you feeling?” General Cloud walked over and patted the unicorn.

The unicorn let out a cry, pretty much like a horse’s neigh…

And why was it called Sherry? Was it a female unicorn?

Then General Cloud also mounted and sat behind me.

“Hehe, this…”

“Ah! What am I thinking!”

My long period of entertaining clients made me involuntarily think of some dirty things.

“Anyway, I still have a little boy’s body, can’t do anything with this d*ck…”

In every sense, I already felt like a girl…

“So lazy…” a certain personality suddenly interjected.

“Sigh…” I let out a powerless sigh and said in my heart, “Hey, you’re alive?”

“What’s wrong?” General Cloud asked with concern, holding the reins that I didn’t know where he’d gotten from.

“Alright, you should leave with your army now,” I muttered quietly.

“Okay, okay,” he humored me. “Hold my hand tight and don’t fall off. Even though you don’t talk like a kid, you’re still a small child. Hold on tight.” He held the reins with one hand and wrapped the other around me. Honestly, it was a good thing his chest armor wasn’t pointed, or my head would definitely hurt!

“Mm-hmm,” I responded.

“Everyone, prepare to return to the city!” “Aaaah!” The general gave the order, and I heard a deafening response from behind me.

“Ah, this is a general! So cool!”

I was jealous in my heart. Because I felt I could never become a general, the jealousy grew even stronger.

We set off from the castle’s front gate and soon entered the forest.

I thought riding a horse would be bumpy, but this unicorn was like driving a car! No vibration at all, almost flying close to the ground!

“This unicorn… amazing!”

On either side of me, there were two adjutants following.

We traveled along a very smooth road.

“With such an easy road, I wonder if there might be ambushes.”

“But at least here we can support each other.”

“True.”

I thought to myself.

“Go ahead, Jiushi. What do you want to ask that you insisted on riding with me?” Before I could speak, General Cloud asked himself.

“Um… didn’t you kill many demons before successfully occupying the castle?”

“Yes, indeed. No idea how they escaped.”

“Then, did you see any other humans in the castle?”

“Humans? Oh, the ancient species? Well… we did find many dead ancient species in a room of the smaller castle.”

‘What? Ancient species? Oh right, I remember Fang Changjie mentioned that humans are called ancient species… I actually forgot.’

“Ah, is that so…” Hearing that, I lowered my head.

“Sorry, when we arrived…”

“It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s just a little…” I felt awful, but couldn’t cry.

“Did you know those ancient species?”

“Yeah… I was a s*ave in the smaller castle at first, and later thrown into that place where I sold my body…”

When I finished speaking, I could feel General Cloud’s anger. His arm around me kept trembling.

“Sigh, General Cloud.” Seeing him so unsettled, I was actually a little worried about him.

A general, and yet he couldn’t adjust his mindset.

Although my current calm demeanor was entirely beaten into me…

“What’s wrong?”

“Thank you…” I said sweetly.

“Hahaha, this is what our Red Demon tribe ought to do. No need to thank me.”

“Hehe,” I smiled. “The following words, I’m saying them because I think you’re a good person.”

“Mm-hmm.”

“Have you considered the possibility that I might actually be a vampire, enduring all this just to follow you into the royal capital and assassinate the king?” I suddenly spoke coldly, but due to my voice’s natural quality, I knew it wasn’t sharp enough to reach a queen’s timbre.

“Hehehe, heh.” General Cloud laughed. “But now that you’ve said those words, I’ve completely dropped my guard against you.”

“Hmph you, hmph.” I deliberately acted tsundere.

Actually, the reason I always speak so insincerely, besides teasing the general, is that I can’t deny I really like my own voice.

“Haha, you really are a child. But thank you for the warning. I’ll remember it.” His words were completely gentle this time, without any of the previous military pretense.

Hearing that, I lost the desire to tease anymore.

“Yosh! Affection level up! Connections +1!”

I felt secretly proud inside. This was my first time increasing someone’s affection!
