Chapter 63: Melt Them All

We followed the icy crystal path inside.

‘I really don’t get it. Why is the entrance to this ruin at the bottom of a river? And not just any river, the bottom of a rift valley! How was this even discovered???’

Once inside, Anna still had me locked in her arms, as if I weighed nothing.

The archaeologists each cast illumination magic. Three orbs of light danced through the air, quickly flooding the entire hall with brightness.

Unlike the previous ruin, the stone bricks here were black, and circuits were carved into them.

“Anna, please remove all restriction magic in this ruin. I don’t want to get into a fight and find half my spells unusable.”

(Princess Qiaolu had noticed this problem in the previous ruin. When the mechanical spider appeared, the whole area was sealed and restriction magic was activated, which locked away her best earth-element magic. That’s why she’d brought Anna along this time, just in case.)

“No problem. Leave it to me.”

Anna raised her hand and tossed out ten glass beads. A faint black glow emanated from her body.

‘So there really is restriction magic. Noted, noted.’

I thought that to myself, but I was also annoyed at my current situation.

Anna, that woman… even when she needed a free hand to cast spells, she had no intention of putting me down.

Meanwhile, the ten glass beads began to spin in the air above Anna’s palm.

“One, two, three…” Anna carefully searched for the magic arrays in this space. At the same time, the beads caught fire, each burning with a different colored flame. The first was black, the second pomegranate-red, the third dazzling gold.

“Five… that’s it.” As she spoke, Anna turned her hand over and collected the beads that hadn’t ignited. Under the burning beads, a massive magic circle formed from three overlapping arrays.

Threads of silver light shot out from the massive circle, piercing and shattering the glass beads.

When it was done, Anna smiled proudly, with a relaxed and easy look. “Princess, I’ve cleaned up all five restriction spells in this ruin.”

“Any more?”

“Probably not.”

“Great, let’s go.”

We then set off toward the depths of the ruin.

First, we came to the maze area. Originally, Fatty had said we could follow the map, avoid the traps layer by layer, and reach the innermost chamber in a few dozen minutes.

But instead, the Princess snatched the map, swung her lava greatsword, and started hacking and smashing wildly. She carved a perfectly straight path toward the innermost chamber.

With lava roaring and sword flashes flying, the Princess cackled, “Heh heh! This is way faster! Hah! Ha!”

She said it proudly, her face full of madness.

But the three archaeologists all covered their faces and sighed. I guess that’s the mindset of archaeological workers. Seeing such a magnificent ruin being destroyed outright, it’s hard not to feel some pain.

‘But… why should I care? I’m just here to open the door. The sooner I get back, the better. I still need to awaken.’

We smashed straight through the maze and came to a long corridor on one side. As expected, it was a trap zone. There were sudden laser beams, clusters of ice arrows, floors that could collapse at any moment, and walls that might come crashing down at any time.

But our Princess…

“Are lasers and ice arrows all you have? Melt them! Let’s see how you shoot now!!” As she spoke, the Princess cleaved down. A wall of molten lava surged forward, melting every arrow slit, laser port, wall, floor, and ceiling gap, then sealed them shut as it cooled.

“Hm? The floor isn’t solid? Melt it! Can’t we just make a new one?” The Princess swung her sword again. A row of magic circles charged across the ground, melting the entire floor into lava. Then, the next second, she cast a mist of ice, and with a whoosh, the floor became pitch-black basalt.

“Ooh, the ceiling isn’t solid either? Melt it!” And so the ceiling also fell victim to the Princess.

“Even the statues aren’t behaving? Melt them! Melt them all!” Watching this Princess who had zero respect for ancient ruins, the three archaeologists silently shed tears of pain. Their hands covered their faces and trembled.

I was amused. ‘This is just cheating through a dungeon!’

Along the way, because Anna kept holding me in her arms, even if a trap occasionally slipped past the Princess, Anna would deal with it in an instant before I even noticed.

After that, we actually walked through a normal passage for once and arrived at a room.

The room had many cabinets and small shelves, but they were all empty.

“Are we there yet?” the Princess asked.

“We’ve arrived. This is already the innermost layer. I haven’t found any traps…” Old man Luo Shi didn’t even finish. Suddenly, streams of golden light from the walls and floor flowed toward me and Anna.

“Oh?! What is this?” Luo Shi was startled.

Just then, a booming sound came from the door ahead. Crash!

Then, all four doors in the room slammed shut, including the one we’d entered from and the other three.

‘God, don’t tell me it’s another spider!’ I prayed inwardly. All of a sudden, the room shook, then it seemed to float up. I felt a hint of heaviness, like an elevator going up.

Then came the pressure of acceleration, as if the room was speeding forward.

“What?! Protect the Princess!” Luo Shi quickly assumed a tripod stance with Fatty and Langbo.

Fatty Sun Yanwei held a magic tome that began radiating beautiful orbs of light, and the book itself quickly levitated.

The aloof Langbo pulled out a long blade like the night sky from somewhere and stood at the front.

Old man Luo Shi adopted a boxer’s stance and stood on the other side.

The three of them completely surrounded the Princess, Anna, and me.

But within five seconds, the room stopped abruptly and began descending, and at the same time, the four walls started sinking.

When the walls had fully sunk away, the golden light on the ground dimmed.

Thanks to my night-vision magic, I could clearly see that we had been brought to an extremely spacious place.

“Hey… sis.” I clutched Anna tightly. ‘God, this couldn’t be… a boss fight, could it? This way of transitioning maps feels oddly familiar!’

‘With no abilities of my own, I was like a sheep entering a tiger forest. If I didn’t cling to some pro for protection, I’d be truly scared!’

Just as I was thinking that, the four walls of the ‘new room’ suddenly blazed with blinding light.

‘Oh my god! That’s not a light! That’s lasers!’

At this moment, on the walls of the ‘new room’, spherical robots were opening their ‘mouths’, and magic circles inside their mouths were concentrating lasers.

‘What?! Is this…? GG???’ I was terrified, thinking we were done for.

Suddenly, the Princess’s contemptuous voice came from beside me: “Is laser all you people know?” The moment she finished, I realized the Princess had disappeared! A strong gust of wind pressure howled past my ears.

Immediately after, three rings of lava flames wrapped around me, Anna, and the three archaeologists, perfect and tight. The three lava rings spun wider and wider, then surged toward the robots with a roar.

The enormous lava wheel blades felt scorching just to look at.

Growing larger, the lava wheel blades were like chainsaws, pushing through the robots’ lasers and melting them.

Then, the lava light faded, leaving only scorch marks on the surrounding walls. The Princess reappeared about twenty meters away from us.

I couldn’t help swallowing. ‘That move… I’ve never seen the Princess use it before. Did she just learn it? No. Probably the previous ruin restricted earth magic, so she couldn’t use it then.’

‘Right, the Princess brought me along specifically to remove restriction magic. Sigh, who told me I’m the strongest mage in Huaying City?’

“Anna, you’re so strong!” I flattered.

“You’re not really praising me at all, are you?”

“Of course not, I’m sincerely praising you.”

‘Wait, that huge AOE was only level 5? If a level 5 mage is like that, what are high-tier level 6, 7, or 8 mages like?’

“They’d be even stronger. That’s why… it’s a miracle you survived the demon’s hands.” Anna hugged me tightly.

Over there, the Princess was casually spinning two huge blades that surged with golden-red light, both as red-hot as magma, and laughing wildly: “Hahaha, is that all?” She looked like a complete berserker! There was nothing princess-like about her at all! Not one bit!!
