Join the ServerQiansui whispered to Su Yutao,
“She looks like she’s in a lot of pain… holding her head, her face is pale…”
Su Yutao curled up in the corner of the bed, hugging herself.
She listened to that woman’s muffled groans, her heavy breaths. A strange feeling rose in her chest.
It wasn’t pity or worry. It was like something you always thought was unshakeable suddenly wobbled.
Su Yutao asked herself, ‘Could she really die?’
Qiansui whispered, “I don’t know… I’m not a doctor…”
“Besides, it doesn’t look like a stroke. Strokes cause sudden death. It looks more like rabies or something?”
Lin Qingxue crouched on the floor, holding her head, breathing heavily.
With her eyes closed, in the darkness, her consciousness began to split.
In there, she wanted to kill, to see blood, to hear the sound of bones breaking.
Two streams of consciousness tore at each other in her mind, like two hands wringing a rag, wringing until her temples throbbed, until her entire head felt like it was splitting apart.
Then she felt herself float up.
Opening her eyes again, she saw a knife in her hand, blood dripping from the blade.
A person lay on the ground, face unclear, clothes soaked black with blood.
She crouched down and stabbed again.
Warm blood splattered onto the back of her hand, smelling of iron.
She licked it. It was metallic and salty.
She stabbed again.
Stab after stab after stab.
She couldn’t stop, didn’t want to stop.
The more she stabbed, the more thrilling it became, like a wolf that had starved for three days finally sinking its teeth into its prey’s throat, biting down and never letting go, biting until death.
She wanted to tear that person apart, wanted to pull out their bones one by one, wanted to drink their blood dry.
Her hands trembled, not from fear, but from excitement.
Her heart raced so fast it felt like it would jump out of her chest. She smiled, the corners of her mouth pulling back, revealing teeth stained with blood.
That person had already stopped moving, but she kept stabbing, stab after stab. The sound of bones cracking, flesh splitting, blood spurting.
She listened to those sounds and found them incredibly beautiful.
She held her head and shook it violently on the bed.
The memory snapped, like a rope cut by a knife.
She gasped, opened her eyes. Moonlight seeped through the curtain gap, falling on the bed.
She raised her head and glanced at Su Yutao, curled up in the corner of the bed.
That little blind girl was hugging a penguin, curled into a ball, shaking all over.
She really wanted to go over, grab that little thing by the neck, and bite down.
She shook her head. If she really did that, she was sure it would be a killing bite. That little thing definitely wouldn’t survive the next day.
Lin Qingxue could no longer hold back. She stepped forward, grabbed Su Yutao’s hand, and pulled it outward.
Su Yutao’s hand was caught, her arm wrenched painfully, and she was dragged out from the corner of the bed.
Su Yutao began to struggle.
She used her other hand to push Lin Qingxue’s hand away, kicked the sheets, and tried to shrink back.
Lin Qingxue didn’t care.
Her hand was like an iron vise, unmoving.
She lowered her head, opened her mouth, and bit down on Su Yutao’s hand.
Lin Qingxue’s teeth sank into Su Yutao’s flesh, slowly applying pressure.
Su Yutao’s hand was in her mouth like a piece of meat being chewed. Bones rolled between teeth, skin tore, blood seeped out.
Su Yutao started struggling, pulling back, using her other hand to push Lin Qingxue’s head, but couldn’t budge it.
Her feet kicked the sheets. She was like a fish caught on land, flopping and twisting, but to no use.
Lin Qingxue’s hand gripped her wrist like an iron vise, immovable.
Su Yutao let out a muffled cry from her throat, the kind of animal-like wail squeezed from the crevices of her bones, torn by pain.
Lin Qingxue listened to that sound, felt the spreading taste of blood in her mouth. It felt especially good.
Not happiness, not satisfaction. It was like a drowning person finally surfacing, like a person in the desert finally getting water.
The tearing pain in her mind seemed to be soothed by something, fading bit by bit. Her mind gradually cleared.
But she bit harder, her teeth sinking deeper.
Su Yutao, on her end, cursed in her heart:
‘This violent woman is biting me again! It hurts so much! What if she really has rabies and infects me?’
She shouted inwardly:
‘Qiansui! Don’t you have pain relief? Use it now!’
[Ah!] Qiansui exclaimed in her mind.
[Oh, oh! I almost forgot about the pain relief!]
Then it quickly activated the pain relief.
Su Yutao suddenly felt no pain.
Not the kind that slowly fades, but like someone flipped a switch. The pain was gone instantly.
She lowered her head to “look” at her bitten hand. Though she couldn’t see, she knew that hand was still in that woman’s mouth, blood still flowing, teeth still sinking into flesh.
But she felt no pain.
Not even a little.
So she stopped struggling. Her body went limp, like a deflated ball.
She stopped screaming, her mouth closed, the muffled sobs from her throat ceased.
She let this woman bite as she pleased. After all, she had an hour of pain relief. If she was capable, she could bite her to death.
Su Yutao felt completely numb. Not just her hand, but her whole body, from head to toe. It was like being soaked in a vat of warm water, unable to feel anything.
She couldn’t feel her own body, couldn’t feel the blanket, couldn’t feel the sheets, couldn’t feel the hand gripping her wrist.
She felt like she was floating in midair, like she was dreaming.
She felt something was wrong and asked Qiansui,
‘Is this right? Is this pain relief? Why do I feel like my body is in a state of nothingness, like I can’t feel anything when I touch things?’
Qiansui fidgeted in her mind, her voice tinged with guilt:
“Well, actually, this pain relief… it cuts off, no, temporarily blocks your nerve perception.”
“That means… um, right now, no matter what you touch, your hands won’t feel anything.”
“If someone touches you, you won’t feel it either.”
Su Yutao was silent.
A string of ellipses drifted by.
Then she said inwardly,
‘Then what’s the difference between this and letting her ravage me?’
Qiansui scratched her head and quickly said,
“Well… it reduces your pain.”
“When you wake up, she’ll probably be asleep.”
“Besides, if you don’t move for an hour, she’ll get bored and fall asleep.”
“And anyway, it’s not like you aren’t usually at her mercy.”
Su Yutao: ‘… Forget it. You’d better shut up.’
Outside, Lin Qingxue felt that the little thing in her arms had stopped struggling and screaming.
The hand in her mouth was as limp as a rag. The little blind girl’s body was like a deflated ball, completely limp, motionless.
Lin Qingxue was startled. She released her bite and looked up at Su Yutao.
The little blind girl lay on the bed, eyes half-open, purple pupils dilated and unfocused, like two foggy glass beads.
Her face was white. Her lips were white. She looked like a corpse.
Lin Qingxue’s heart skipped a beat. She stood up, slid her hands under Su Yutao’s armpits, lifted her from the bed, and shook her.
Su Yutao’s head lolled back, her limbs hanging, like a lifeless rag doll.
Lin Qingxue shook her again. Still no response.
She looked down at Su Yutao’s hand. It was covered in blood. Two rows of deep bite marks, flesh torn, blood oozing from the wounds.
She wiped the blood from her own mouth and looked at the wound. It shouldn’t be like this.
These injuries wouldn’t kill her. Why was this little mute not reacting?
Su Yutao felt incredibly bored. She wanted to sleep, but she had just been shaken awake and couldn’t fall asleep.
Su Yutao asked Qiansui in her mind,
‘What do you think would happen if I spoke now? Since the pain relief is active, doesn’t that mean I can talk? I could talk before, it’s just that I kept coughing.’
Qiansui thought for a moment and said,
“That works too.”
“How about you say ‘stop’?”
“Even though you don’t feel pain now, once the pain relief wears off, it’ll still hurt.”
