Chapter 141: The Beast Below

Lately, I’ve been having a rough time.

I feel the need to vent.

For example, killing Bai Li Mie Tian, killing Bai Li Mie Tian, killing Bai Li Mie Tian, and the like.

I’ve also thought about hacking the Sword and Bai Li Mie Tian, but unlike that salted fish we hacked before, people of this level aren’t just players—they’re part of maintaining the Second World’s normal order and development. Breaking the rules like that would definitely cause an uproar and attract the attention of relevant authorities. If that happens, I might get hunted down in real life, unless I mess up the server again and erase all traces completely. But if I mess it up again, the game server would probably crash.

Though the Second World is just a game, it’s a life-level, nationwide game, an existence as important as the real world. So making a move against Xunzhao is really not easy. Last time was the limit. To be safe, following the rules and finding a way to out-argue Bai Li Mie Tian is the right thing to do.

A real man repays revenge! Bai Li Mie Tian, don’t let me catch you!

Yingning and I are now in the territory of the [Snow Mountain Tribe] monsters, northeast of Minos City. In the wilderness, groups of red-named Snow Mountain Tribe monsters are hunting snow rabbits and snow foxes. If Yingning and I appear in their sight, we’ll also be added to their menu, triggering an inevitable battle.

The Snow Mountain Tribe are level 50 half-human, half-beast monsters with rich experience. So although Yingning and I are exploring slowly, we’ve gained a lot—we even hope more of these Snow Mountain Tribe monsters will come.

While searching for the task’s giant beast corpse and clearing out batches of Snow Mountain Tribe monsters, Yingning’s level climbed back to 39.

“This is a fast training spot. After finishing the main quest, we can come here to level up. Qingyu and you can pull aggro, and with two mages and me AoE-ing, it should be efficient.”

The mission comes first.

Six hours have passed since we went online. As soon as we logged in, we formed a team and started searching for the giant beast corpse near Minos City. Unfortunately, we’ve found nothing so far. As expected, main quests related to historical progression aren’t so simple.

“Oh, right, Xiaoya. My brother mailed me equipment—anonymously, even the item’s signature was fake. If he hadn’t attached a letter, I wouldn’t have known the sender was him… That idiot, I want to create materials for him, but no matter how I ask for his game ID, he won’t tell me.”

“Maybe they want to surprise you?” I said guiltily.

“He’s alone, without a guild, and still training in all crafting professions. It must be really hard! But that guy has been too competitive since childhood; he never wants to accept my help, always putting on a macho attitude… It’s infuriating!” Yingning said angrily.

“Since that’s the case, why don’t you stop asking for his ID?” I looked up, putting on a senior’s lecturing attitude. “Men are creatures that value face and pride above everything! Especially a man like your brother—he’d rather die than accept your help!”

Pfft… Yingning chuckled and patted my head. “You talk as if you know men well, Xiaoya.”

“Hehe!” I put my hands on my hips, proud. “Have you forgotten what I am? I’m a fox spirit! A monster that lives by eating men in myths and legends! If I didn’t understand men, wouldn’t I have been devoured by them long ago?”

“Yes, yes, you’re the best!”

As soon as Yingning finished, a sudden shout came through the team channel.

[–Cannon Fairy: Found it! Coordinates N818013, W200934, three kilometers due north of Minos City… Oh my god, this thing is huge! So huge that… we couldn’t find it on the map.]

[–Huge? How could it be huge and unfound? Unless…]

Hearing the team channel message, Yingning and I immediately hurried to the coordinates.

“Yaya, let me carry you? You’re pregnant…”

“It’s fine. This pregnancy is different from a normal human one; it doesn’t affect movement… The Zimu River water is truly miraculous!”

Though occasionally tired and dizzy, it’s nothing serious.

I don’t want to admit it, but I have to admit that the Zimu River water is a miracle item. No wonder it’s of divine artifact quality.

The coordinates weren’t far, on a relatively high snow mound.

Breathless, Yingning and I ran to the coordinates, finding Cannon Fairy, Huo Jinjin, and Qingyu.

“Hey heh,” Cannon Fairy raised her staff triumphantly, standing on the snow mound. “Do you see it? The giant beast corpse?”

Yingning and I looked around. All we saw was vast white snow. There was no giant beast corpse—unless…

“Hmm~ Didn’t expect it, did you? It’s right under our feet!” Cannon Fairy raised her staff, chanted a spell, and a fireball blasted the snow, creating a huge crater several meters in radius.

Below the crater wasn’t snow or dark frozen soil, but a brownish-red frozen hide.

“The terrain started rising a kilometer out of Minos City. If that’s where this guy’s body begins… then this thing must be several kilometers long! How terrifying! This is at least a level 100 super monster!” Cannon Fairy said excitedly.

“What are you so happy about? Bah!” Huo Jinjin spat disdainfully. “If I weren’t so loose-lipped, would you have blasted me with that fireball? If you hadn’t blasted me, how would you have uncovered this beast?”

Cannon Fairy was obviously choked. “Knowing you’re loose-lipped really touches me… But I’m the one who uncovered the beast! Me, me, me! You loose-lipped bastard, don’t try to steal my credit!”

“Alright, what are you two arguing about? No matter who gets credit, the task reward won’t be extra—it’s system-assigned!” Yingning rubbed her forehead, unable to handle the two clowns.

“No, Bei girl, you don’t understand. I can bow to anyone but this bastard!”

Cannon Fairy glared fiercely at Huo Jinjin, who glared back just as fiercely.

Seeing that the two stubborn mules couldn’t settle anytime soon, Yingning ignored them and took out a communication crystal. She input 1 and called Alekxia.

Soon, the communication crystal floated up, projecting a large screen in the air displaying what was happening with Alekxia and Shirley.

On the screen, Alekxia was wiping her sword, while Shirley was lounging lazily, tilting her head against Alekxia, using her priest staff to scratch her own back—the super-artifact priest staff that had killed thousands of Mie Tian’s men… being used as a back scratcher?

Shirley raised an eyebrow and said impatiently, “We’re busy right now, can’t come over… Ah… ah… ah… so good…”

My mouth twitched… Busy? Too busy scratching an itch?

“Careful!” Alekxia suddenly looked up, frowning. “Something’s wrong! If this thing died long ago, the skin shouldn’t be this color! Get out of there!”

Suddenly, an earthquake.
