Chapter 182: The Miracle of the Elven Forest

After logging out of the game, we were met with wave after wave of even more thunderous applause.

The host smiled obsequiously and handed us two sheets of paper with several incomprehensible paragraphs written on them.

“The awards ceremony will take place after the carnival begins. Next, please wait until the countdown in the sky reaches zero, then recite the sentences on the paper earnestly to unveil the carnival!”

Recite sentences?

What good would that do? Could this barren place conjure magic?

Yingning’s face was flushed with a mix of nervousness and intense joy, making her look even more radiant.

I gently squeezed her hand, and we exchanged a smile.

The moment our voices faded, the earth began to tremble violently!

A real tremor, not a simulated screen shake!

The earthquake continued, shaking the players off balance. Amid their terrified screams, something even more horrifying occurred… the ground split open!

They grew endlessly, as if they would never stop. Soon, they blotted out the sun above us.

The flute’s tune became less ethereal and more lively, flowing through this vibrant jungle, brushing past our ears, leaving us with nothing but awe.

The trees continued to grow, now thicker than a person’s hug.

The serpent-like protrusions on the trunks grew wider, keeping pace with the trees.

Only then did we realize that the inconspicuous snake patterns on the tender seedlings had been the trees’ predetermined paths.

Nests grew on the branches, and the trunks split open, dropping white eggs into the nests.

The flute’s pitch suddenly soared, and at the same time, the tender chirping of hatchlings made everyone’s hearts tremble.

This was the universe’s greatest declaration, announcing the birth of life.

Time moved on. Houses grew from the trunks, and from the houses emerged beautiful humanoid beings with pointed ears. They walked through the dense forest and greeted us warmly.

Suddenly, they stopped—on branches, in front of houses, on the ground—clasping their hands in prayer, gazing devoutly in one direction.

A stirring chant echoed through the forest:

“Journey alone—you walk the path by yourself—”

“Darkness has come—remember the promise in your heart—”

“May the call of the evil shadow—fall silent—”

“May your long journey—ignite the stars—”

“Darkness has come—you must keep your word—”

The flute’s melody faded away, but the miraculous forest remained before us.

There were no noisy fireworks, but this opening surpassed any we had ever seen or imagined.

Though we weren’t in the game, a clickable system notification box still appeared before us.

This world’s tech skill points were all dumped into gaming… it’s so skewed it can’t be fixed.

They could speak and interact, but couldn’t be touched. I have no idea how the officials managed that, but it’s not my concern.

After all, they dumped all their skill points into game development, leaving their internet security far behind. They might be able to handle the locals, but they can’t handle me!

“Wow—how amazing!” Turret Fairy and the others had already regrouped with us, standing under a tree and marveling at it.

Huo Jinjin smirked, pushing up his glasses. “According to A Brief History of Time… sorry, I can’t keep making this up.”

Qingyu kept sneaking glances at me with an unreadable expression.

Yingning hooked her arm through mine, resting her cheek on my shoulder happily. “Sis, it’s so great that you could come to the carnival.”

This trip was totally worth it. Getting all those pet items was secondary; the main highlight was the miraculous sudden forest, which truly broadened our horizons.

As expected, the Quest officials never disappoint. Though I suspected they had a big move when I saw the barren land, I never expected such a surprising one.
