Before heading to the class my aunt had arranged for me, I figured I should first greet the homeroom teacher.
With the information my aunt had provided, locating my homeroom teacher’s office was a simple matter.
As I gazed at the sign on the office door, which read ‘First-Year Grade Office,’ an unsettling premonition inexplicably began to stir within me.
‘Why on earth is the homeroom teacher also the grade director?’
Ever since junior high, various circumstances had left me with a deep-seated apprehension towards grade directors; the mere sight of one would fill me with dread.
Now, not only did my homeroom teacher know my true gender, but they were also the grade director. ‘Hiss, this is truly terrifying.’
Reaching out with trembling hands, I gently pushed open the door, and the occupants of the office immediately turned their gaze towards me.
Just as I had imagined, there were two people: a man and a woman, one serving as the main grade director and the other as the deputy director.
According to the information my aunt had provided, the woman wearing square-framed glasses was likely my homeroom teacher, Meng Yue.
However, I had no idea which of them was the main director and which was the deputy.
“Excuse me, are you Teacher Meng?”
As I handed her the documents, I couldn’t help but inquire.
“Hmm?”
Taking the documents from my hand, Meng Yue’s gaze immediately fell upon the student’s name on the first page.
“Mu Rong Luo Ye, is that you?”
Her tone struck me as somewhat stern.
“Come, let’s talk outside.”
‘Outside? Why outside?’
Despite my lingering suspicions, I obediently followed her out of the grade office.
She led me to an empty, deserted room, likely a counseling classroom or something similar. Then, without warning, she pinned me against the wall!
‘Ahhh, do all of you enjoy pinning people against walls so much?’
‘She’s a grade director, for goodness sake! Can’t she act like one? Pinning someone against the wall without a word, what kind of stunt is this?’
“You, are you really a boy? You certainly don’t look like one.”
“Truly, absolutely.”
‘She’s actually doubting my true gender now. Hiss, this person, she wouldn’t actually try to verify it, would she?’
“Your demeanor doesn’t suggest it at all. Oh well, never mind, I’m just teasing you.”
Before letting go, she didn’t forget to pinch my cheek, then adjusted her non-existent glasses on her nose, adopting an incredibly serious expression.
‘You change expressions faster than turning a page!’
I muttered a helpless complaint, and seizing the moment before she could make another move, I quickly wrapped my arms tightly around myself. ‘Indeed, boys must always protect themselves when out and about.’
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, are you afraid I’ll devour you? You’d be fine if you were a bit older, but you’re still too green. I have no interest in tender sprouts.”
‘Hiss, just like that perverted older sister, you’re a pervert too!’
‘Good heavens, why does everyone want a piece of me? If I were a bit older, I’d probably be eaten by you until not even a speck of bone remained.’
“Next period is my class. I’ll take you to introduce yourself to everyone.”
“However, if you’re this cute, you’re sure to be popular. Perhaps even boys will flock to you.”
‘Hiss, thinking about it carefully, being pinned against a wall by a boy, being confessed to publicly… hiss, what kind of earthly torment is that?!’
‘Suddenly, it seems being pinned against a wall by ‘them’ is much better than being pinned by a boy. Bah, bah, bah, what’s with all this pinning? I don’t want to be pinned against a wall!’
‘I’m a tough guy, a strong man! Hiss!’
She remained silent, merely observing me intently. The longer she scrutinized me, the more an uneasy premonition grew within me.
Fortunately, at that very moment, the dismissal bell suddenly rang.
‘I’m saved!’
‘Sure enough, no matter the situation, the dismissal bell truly is a lifesaver!’
“We have a ten-minute break. How about this: first, come back to the grade office with me to process your documents. After class starts, I’ll take you to your classroom.”
As we returned to the grade director’s office, the other grade director seemed somewhat perplexed, wondering what couldn’t have been discussed within the office. Nevertheless, he didn’t press for a reason and continued with his work.
“Let’s go.”
Sensing that it was nearly time for class, Meng Yue put down her documents and led me to the classroom my aunt had arranged for me—First-Year Class Two.
“Wait here for now. I’ll call you in when it’s time.”
Seeing me stand obediently in place, Meng Yue felt reassured and pushed open the door, stepping inside.
The moment Meng Yue entered the classroom, the previously boisterous atmosphere noticeably quieted, falling silent in an instant.
There was no need to guess; the students inside had undoubtedly deployed their perfected technique, honed over years of practice: instant silence.
“Before we officially begin class, I have a slight digression.”
As her words fell, a hint of curiosity flickered across the faces of all the students in the class.
Although the school year had just begun, a few days of observation had taught them that Meng Yue was always very serious during class. If she was making a digression, it truly meant something important was happening.
“Today, I’d like to introduce a new classmate.”
“A new classmate?”
No sooner had her words finished echoing than the classroom erupted into a clamor.
“A new classmate? It couldn’t be a handsome guy, could it?”
A lovesick student immediately blurted out.
“To get into our class, you’re either a top student or you have connections.”
“I think it might be a beautiful girl.”
“Beautiful girl, beautiful girl, is that all you ever think about? You’ve read too many novels. This isn’t a story; do you really think you’d be that lucky?”
“If there’s a beautiful girl transferring, she’ll go to someone else’s school, someone else’s class.”
“You’re dreaming, aren’t you?”
“Alright, everyone, quiet down.”
She rapped firmly on the lectern, and the classroom, which had been a boiling pot of noise, instantly fell silent once more.
“Alright, let’s welcome our new classmate.”
Hearing that, ‘She must be calling for me.’
Gently pushing open the classroom door, I saw Meng Yue standing at the podium. I simply walked over and stood beside her.
‘Why do their expressions seem a bit off?’
‘Why are they all staring at me, one by one? Hiss! Oh no, oh no, have I been found out?’
Though outwardly I appeared calm, inwardly I was in a complete panic.
“Hello everyone, my name is Mu Rong Luo Ye. I’m joining your class today, and I hope for your kind support and guidance.”
Without another word, I offered a bow.
After giving them a shy smile, I was met with utter silence.
‘W-what’s wrong with them? Why aren’t they saying anything? Damn it, have I been exposed?’
Yet, in the very next second, the classroom erupted once more, becoming a cacophony of noise.
“Hahaha, what did I tell you? I said it would be a beautiful girl!”
“Wah, wah, wah, so cute! I just want to hug them!”
“Silver hair, how rare!”
“Are they foreign, or do they have foreign ancestry?”
Observing the uncontrollable classroom, Meng Yue let out a helpless sigh. ‘Well, the next period is a self-study session anyway. At worst, I’ll let them revel in this class and switch the next one to a Chinese language lesson.’
‘That’s fine, isn’t it?’
However, just then, amidst the throng of students, I faintly discerned a familiar figure.
‘Hiss! Why is it her?’
