“The leader? No way. I only mentioned it to him by chance five minutes ago. How could he already…”
Hearing Mo Yuyan’s words, Lan Baiyuan couldn’t help but freeze slightly. The leader’s swiftness was quite beyond her expectations.
Moreover, this was merely a suspicious individual, one they could easily handle themselves. There was no need for the leader to personally intervene.
“No one can truly predict the leader. He will remain in Qingshan City until the target is found. Perhaps the target is connected to someone very important to him.”
“Is that so? Well, if the leader is involved, then we needn’t continue. We’ll wait for him to clear this individual before searching for new clues.”
Taking the binoculars from Mo Yuyan, Lan Baiyuan scanned briefly until the familiar figure reappeared in her sight.
“Tell me, why does the leader always dress like that? Aren’t you curious about his appearance beneath the mask?”
“No interest.”
With that declaration, Mo Yuyan simply departed, unconcerned with what might transpire next. Since the leader was present, her involvement was no longer required.
How the situation was resolved held no interest for her, nor did its ultimate outcome.
As for Lan Baiyuan, she watched the distant scene with a hint of excitement, though the actual outcome left her somewhat disappointed.
The masked figure merely gripped the other’s clothing, holding him for less than ten seconds.
Then, he released his hand and turned to walk away.
“What was that? Is that all? What kind of result is this?!”
Just as her frustration mounted, her phone suddenly vibrated in her pocket.
She pulled it out, noting a familiar number had sent a message.

“Continue? So, that means he wasn’t the target?”
Pondering for a moment, she realized it made sense. It would be rather unbelievable if the target were so easily found.
After all, during their peak, the target was rumored to be even stronger than the leader. However, these were only rumors.
No one had ever witnessed the leader truly unleash his full power. Every time he appeared, he always employed the most effortless methods, never once revealing his full might.
Indeed, finding the target would require considerable effort.
Before that, she still had invigilation duties in the afternoon. So, she would disguise herself first. As for the investigation, she would resume it once she had ample time.
In any case, the leader would remain here until the target was found, never departing. And since he could search for the target twenty-four hours a day, a small moment of slacking on her part would be perfectly fine.

Ugh, she finally managed to drag Huang Beifeng back home. Perhaps due to the mental exertion during the exam, her physical energy had somehow been affected.
At any rate, it felt far more strenuous now compared to the morning.
She was even a little breathless.
Thankfully, they were finally home. She simply tossed Huang Beifeng onto the sofa and left her there.
As for what came next, it was time to cook. Although Huang Beifeng likely still had no appetite, her lack of hunger didn’t mean she herself would skip a meal.
Entering the kitchen, she pulled open the refrigerator door and haphazardly grabbed some ingredients. Though, ‘haphazardly’ wasn’t quite accurate; she couldn’t have been picky, given the meager selection of vegetables remaining.
Once the exams concluded and they had a day or two off, she truly needed to restock, or else she’d be accused of mistreating them again.
She glanced back at Huang Beifeng, who was still sprawled listlessly on the sofa. At least now, she was finally willing to do something else.
She had, at the very least, pulled out her phone to play.
This was good; it saved her from wondering if something was genuinely wrong this time, as her reaction was starkly different from before.
Having prepared the meal, she carried two small dishes to the dining table, serving herself a bowl of rice and another for Huang Beifeng.
Although Huang Beifeng still lacked any appetite, she firmly insisted that she eat a little. “How can one go without eating? Humans are iron, but rice is steel,” after all. That was what Huang Beifeng herself had said.
During a lull in eating, she pulled out her phone to check the sect chat. Strangely, wasn’t ‘Number 20’ usually quite active?
Apart from ‘Number 19,’ he was the most lively one. Yet, why had he been absent lately?
After a moment of careful thought, she recalled he had posted a hiatus notice earlier, stating he would be stopping updates due to exams.
So, it was just a coincidence that he also had exams recently. No wonder he hadn’t been seen.
Patiently, she waited for Huang Beifeng to finish the rice in her bowl, then took the chopsticks and bowl she offered.
As she cleared the table, she glanced back to find, sure enough, Huang Beifeng had already collapsed back onto the sofa.
Never mind, she’d just have to get used to it. Once the monthly exam was over tomorrow, the familiar Huang Beifeng would surely return.
