‘If my calculations weren’t entirely off, a gentle push of the slightly ajar door before me should have revealed a vista of brilliant sunshine and an endless, azure sky. Yet, I was mistaken. The location was indeed correct, but today was overcast, the sun utterly obscured. What an inauspicious beginning to our venture.
Still, what could Tang Xiao Rou possibly intend by leading me here? This was a rooftop, after all—a place renowned as a sacred spot for declarations of love. What was her purpose in bringing me to such a place? A sudden possibility struck me, and my cheeks, which had only just cooled, flushed with renewed warmth.
‘Surely, she wasn’t actually planning to confess her feelings to me, was she? Heavens!’ I mused, recalling that Tang Xiao Rou had, indeed, penned a love letter before. A confession wasn’t entirely out of the question, yet, having known each other for a mere two days, such a direct declaration felt rather impulsive.
As she led me by the hand to the rooftop, Tang Xiao Rou seemed intent on having me lean against the wall. Given such a posture, a startling thought occurred: ‘Could it be that she, too, wishes to wall-slam me?’
To be wall-slammed by Mu Rong Xin Xue, Meng Yue, or Huang Beifeng was one thing, but to be subjected to such a move by a petite girl like her? Where would my dignity as a young man go then?
‘Wait, no. Having been wall-slammed so many times, did I even possess such a thing as ‘a man’s dignity’ anymore?’
Regardless, I absolutely could not allow myself to be wall-slammed by this young girl. If word of that ever spread, my reputation would be utterly shattered.
A sharp intake of breath escaped me. ‘No, don’t come any closer! Otherwise, I—I’ll wall-slam you instead!’
It was then that a sudden realization struck me, a forgotten piece of advice I’d once heard: ‘How does one avoid being wall-slammed?’ The answer was simple: strike first. Wall-slam the other person, and you need no longer fear being wall-slammed yourself.
No sooner had the thought formed than action followed. The very instant Tang Xiao Rou moved to corner me against the wall, I swiftly turned, seizing her by the shoulders, and with a fluid motion, wall-slammed her against the very wall she had intended for me.
I must admit, the sensation of wall-slamming someone was quite exhilarating. No wonder so many seemed intent on wall-slamming me. Now, at last, the tables had turned. A smug chuckle escaped me.
Yet, as I recalled my past predicaments, I realized I could only find a fleeting solace in this interaction with Tang Xiao Rou. The thought brought a fresh wave of self-consciousness.
Hmph, the thrill of wall-slamming had already faded, leaving me feeling rather listless.
