Chapter 46: The Unseen Barrier and a Shifting Heart

“Let’s die together!”

The captor was keenly aware of the explosives’ true power. These were no longer the mere toys he had tossed earlier; this was enough to level an entire building!

“Die!”

With a laugh that bordered on manic, he charged towards Mo Yuyan. However, what greeted him was the sharp crack of a long whip.

“Cough!”

Its force undiminished, the whip struck the captor squarely in the chest. Like a human top, he spun violently before slamming against the wall at the alley’s end.

Dust billowed instantly.

Amidst the shattered remnants of the wall, only a bulky figure could be vaguely discerned, gasping for breath on the ground.

“Cough! Hahaha! What does it matter? You can’t escape, you can’t escape! Not with this much, you can’t escape!”

Yet, in the very next moment, he watched as Mo Yuyan tossed a few small contraptions his way. Without a backward glance, she cradled Mu Rong Luo Ye and vanished.

“As members of MRZZ, you certainly wouldn’t be unfamiliar with these.”

Hearing Mo Yuyan’s parting words, the wild laughter on the captor’s face slowly gave way to sheer terror. “Wait! This, this, this!”

He stared at the sudden rise of a faint blue light barrier, struggling to stand. But the explosives strapped to his body had finally reached their critical point.

“Boom!”

A deafening explosion ripped through the air, instantly incinerating him at its epicenter. The floor beneath him was gouged into a deep crater. Yet, beyond the light barrier, the surroundings remained utterly untouched, bearing no trace of the blast.

Standing outside the barrier, one couldn’t even hear the explosion within.

It was as if two distinct worlds existed side-by-side.

“How was it, Young Miss? How did the organization’s new product feel to use? Was it handy? Did it suit your style?”

“It was alright.”

“Wah! My specially designed model for you, Young Miss, only merits such a casual review? Wuwuwu, there’s no love left, so does love truly disappear?”

Ignoring the voice on the other end of the communicator, Mo Yuyan simply replied, “I’ll leave the aftermath to you,” before abruptly cutting the connection.

“Tsk tsk tsk! Young Miss, you truly are something. Though, this turn of events is a bit of a loss. Young Miss should be exposed now. I just wonder who they sent this time… Not good. For Young Miss, as long as it’s not those true monsters from the front lines, dealing with them should still be quite easy.”

He gazed at the screen before him, the data displayed representing a year’s worth of his arduous efforts.

“Heh, I’ll find you very soon.”

Silently observing Mo Yuyan’s actions, the cloaked figure merely offered a slight nod.

Adorned with a demonic mask and a flowing cloak, one might have mistaken them for engaging in cosplay.

After quietly witnessing the curtain fall on the entire spectacle, the cloaked figure vanished as well, as if they had never existed.

Carrying Mu Rong Luo Ye, Mo Yuyan casually entered a dessert shop and chose a seat by the window.

Gazes at the silver-haired loli in her arms, Mo Yuyan, to be honest, felt a flicker of bewilderment.

Seemingly, Mu Rong Luo Ye remained unconscious. However, just moments ago, despite the distance, Mo Yuyan had distinctly noticed his movements.

‘So, you…’

Mo Yuyan scrutinized Mu Rong Luo Ye for a long time, yet she couldn’t discern anything unusual.

Nothing seemed amiss, save for an uncanny resemblance.

Just then, a ray of sunlight slanted across Mu Rong Luo Ye’s delicate face. As she quietly observed that small, sun-kissed visage, her gaze lingering on the long lashes, Mo Yuyan felt a subtle shift within her own emotions.

‘This isn’t right.’

Such a sensation was entirely new to her, perhaps the very first time she had ever experienced such a surge of emotion.

‘You, just who are you?’

For reasons unknown, as Mo Yuyan gazed at Mu Rong Luo Ye’s sleeping face, she instinctively reached out her hand. She gently brushed aside his bangs, and just as her fingers were about to graze his cheek, her hand recoiled as if she had received an electric shock.

She cast a bewildered glance at her right hand. This feeling was utterly novel, something she had never encountered before.

Slowly, her gaze drifted towards the window, settling on the bright sunshine outside. For the first time, a hint of confusion clouded Mo Yuyan’s eyes.

‘What is happening to me?’
