Chapter 63: The Holy Sword’s Revelation and the Call to Depart

“So, if we just take away the divinity attracting the Shadow Beasts, they will automatically leave the Dream World, and I’ll be able to depart?”

Cecilia lowered her head, pondering this. Had anyone but Bai Yu spoken these words, she would have found them utterly unbelievable.

After all, she had never even seen anything related to deities; her only knowledge of such things came from books.

To even speak of the functions of such an item was beyond her comprehension.

“Precisely, and the sooner, the better. We can’t know when those Shadow Beasts might launch another attack.”

By now, Bai Yu had fully dressed, retrieving the Holy Sword that still bore its stone base.

“What is this?”

Cecilia had noticed the weapon Bai Yu wielded during their fight, yet she hadn’t understood what it was, merely assuming it to be a specially crafted weapon.

“You’ll see when you examine it. I couldn’t find a suitable weapon in the Imperial Palace at the time, so I simply took this.”

Cecilia took the Holy Sword, base and all, into her hands, and only then did she truly comprehend its nature.

“This is the Holy Sword from the Imperial Palace?”

Cecilia’s gaze swept over the sword’s guard and its distinctive blade.

What struck her as most absurd was that it still had its base attached; it was as if the Holy Sword had been pulled out root and all.

“Indeed. I couldn’t pull it out no matter what, so in the end, I just extracted the entire base. I figured I might as well use it as is.”

“This…”

Cecilia found herself somewhat speechless at Bai Yu’s casual explanation.

She recalled that during her tenure as Knight Commander, the Empress had once invited her to attempt to draw this very sword, yet she, too, had failed.

She harbored no resentment over her failure, for no one had managed to draw the sword since the First Hero had left it, and she had merely tried her hand.

However, for Bai Yu to pull the sword out with its base still attached—surely that counted as receiving the Holy Sword’s recognition?

“Although this sword looks a bit comical, I might have a way to separate it from its base.”

Bai Yu placed her hand on the Holy Sword’s blade, her eyes meeting Cecilia’s.

“A way? Could it be…?”

“Exactly.”

With one hand touching the sword and the other grasping Cecilia’s, a golden radiance instantly erupted from their forms.

The golden light of Bloodline Resonance manifested, and with Lili’s interference now gone, Bai Yu could freely control its activation.

The moment the golden light appeared, the sword’s base instantly dissolved into golden particles, vanishing into thin air.

The sword tip, which had always been encased by the stone base, now fully revealed its sharp brilliance.

With the Holy Sword completely unsheathed, Cecilia stood stunned for a moment before turning a gaze of astonishment upon Bai Yu.

“The key to drawing the Holy Sword was Bloodline Resonance?”

“Precisely. It only occurred to me after I received the memories from the Dream World, as no one had ever attempted to draw the Holy Sword in such a manner.”

Bai Yu gripped the Holy Sword’s hilt, then offered it to Cecilia.

“Take this sword. While I’m unsure of its specific functions, it should certainly be superior to an ordinary blade.”

Bai Yu had no intention of wielding this sword herself. Previously, lacking a suitable weapon or Shadow Beasts to fight alongside, she had been compelled to use the Holy Sword with its base.

Now that a more fitting wielder was present, there was no need for her to use it.

Furthermore, she now commanded a substantial number of Shadow Beasts capable of combat. Though they couldn’t yet directly confront a Shadow Beast army, they were sufficient as troops to acquire divinity.

Not to mention the combined strength of Cecilia and the Knight Order.

Cecilia was clearly the more suitable wielder for the Holy Sword.

“Understood.”

Cecilia did not refuse, accepting the Holy Sword.

Regardless of the weapon she wielded, protecting Bai Yu remained her foremost principle.

“When do we depart?”

Cecilia slid the Holy Sword into its sheath, then inquired of Bai Yu.

Having resolved to completely break free from the Dream World’s influence, she was determined to thoroughly leave this illusory realm.

No matter how real everything in her memories felt, the current world was merely an incomplete dream.

She had to make a choice, and the answer had become unequivocally clear.

Having Bai Yu was enough; she held no lingering attachments to anything else, content to regard it all as a mere dream.

“Today, right now!”

Bai Yu declared resolutely, knowing that even a second’s delay could allow the Shadow Beasts to make their move first, shifting the initiative away from them.

“Very well. I’ll inform the Knight Order immediately.”

Cecilia exited the tent, keenly aware that this battle would likely be their last. Failure would mean no second chances.

Yet, Bai Yu harbored no sense of nervousness, and this inexplicable confidence even surprised her a little.

[The memories from the Dream World have indeed influenced parts of your personality, but it’s largely harmless, and in fact, a beneficial change for you.]

“Are you implying I was indecisive before?”

Bai Yu remarked, a hint of exasperation in her voice, to Moweila in her mind. She readily admitted to having many personality flaws in the past.

Even after transforming into a Witch, the situation had shown little improvement.

These Dream World memories had, to some extent, genuinely brought about a positive change in her.

Lili had, in a way, helped her. However, Bai Yu still couldn’t fathom the true intentions of this Outer God, who possessed the appearance of a young girl.

She resolved to confront Lili and seek clarity once they were outside this realm.

[I strongly advise against you making contact with that Outer God. Her level of danger is far beyond what you perceive. Everything she has done so far is merely akin to child’s play, and even her current descent isn’t in her complete form.]

Moweila spoke with caution, for she clearly sensed that the mere ‘small fry’ from the Source of Dreams, even if all their members were sacrificed, could not serve as the raw material for an Outer God’s descent, nor were they likely to even attract an Outer God’s attention.

Moweila believed Morpheus’s current descent was due solely to Bai Yu, with the Source of Dreams’ involvement serving merely as a smokescreen.

As for Lili’s specific objectives, Moweila could hardly claim to know.

“I understand, of course, but we can’t simply abandon everyone trapped in this dream, can we? And it’s not guaranteed that Lili will spare everyone once we leave this place.”

Bai Yu spoke with a sigh of helplessness. She knew that Lili’s actions were undoubtedly against all of humanity, yet Bai Yu found herself unable to feel any animosity towards Lili.

As Bai Yu remained lost in thought, Cecilia had already finished organizing all the members of the Knight Order, ready to depart at any moment.

Bai Yu immediately snapped back to reality. The most crucial task now was to seize the divinity and then escape the dream.

Without achieving this prerequisite, discussing anything else was futile. Bai Yu had no desire to be trapped in this wretched world for an entire lifetime.

The foolish, NPC-like inhabitants here had already caused her enough suffering.
