Join the ServerBai Yu observed Ellie Roth, unsure how to react. A premonition settled over her: the people around them were about to face misfortune.
Ellie Roth’s murderous aura had, by now, solidified into a palpable presence, thickening the air around her until it felt as though it might freeze.
The guards surrounding the dining hall were paralyzed, none daring to advance a single step.
“Stop dawdling and attack!”
The middle-aged man, the City Lord himself, recoiled repeatedly, unnerved by the chilling aura. Yet, the ingrained arrogance of his privileged class compelled him to order his guards forward.
The guards exchanged uneasy glances. Despite the terrifying killing intent they sensed, the immense pressure of their lord’s authority forced them to charge.
Every guard surged forward, intending to subdue the young woman before them.

But in that instant, Ellie Roth’s hand moved with a casual flick, and the Curse Seal Blade materialized abruptly within her grasp.
The swiftness of the event left everyone present utterly bewildered, unable to react.
The runes etched onto the Curse Seal Blade pulsed with a sinister glow. Its terrifying oppressive aura mirrored the killing intent radiating from Ellie Roth herself.
Before anyone could even fully comprehend what was happening, flashes of blade light erupted throughout the dining hall. With them came the furious gusts of wind, born from blades slicing through the air.
In a single, breathtaking moment, the air solidified. The surroundings fell silent, as if time itself had been suspended.
“What’s going on?”
The City Lord sensed something was gravely wrong and instinctively retreated several steps.
Why were the guards before him motionless?
“Attack, now!”
He bellowed, his legs trembling uncontrollably.
A pungent, coppery scent of blood permeated the air, causing Bai Yu to frown.
Ellie Roth, however, remained impassive, her Curse Seal Blade entirely unblemished by a single drop of blood.
In that same instant, crimson lines abruptly manifested across the guards’ bodies and faces. From these fissures, blood began to seep.
The bloodlines multiplied, crisscrossing every inch of their skin. The flowing blood pooled on the ground, forming rivulets of crimson.
Immediately after, the bodies of all the guards began to disintegrate.
In a single, horrifying moment, the blades had meticulously diced every guard into neat chunks of flesh and bone. They scattered across the floor like discarded building blocks.
The speed was so immense that they felt no pain, nor did they utter a sound.
This was Ellie Roth’s sole act of mercy towards them, for they had been the first to attack.
Such a scene held no significance for her. Having endured countless battles and bathed in torrents of blood, this was merely child’s play.
Ellie Roth’s face remained devoid of expression as her cold gaze fixed upon the two distant survivors.
Suddenly, the entire dining hall fell into an absolute, chilling stillness.
Only the proprietress and the City Lord remained, gaping with wide, horrified eyes at the scene from the farthest corner of the room.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaah!”
The proprietress shrieked hysterically, the terrifying sight before her causing her to collapse into unconsciousness.
The City Lord, utterly terrified, simply crumpled to the floor, scrambling backward repeatedly.
“You… who are you people? How is this possible…?”
The City Lord was too petrified to move, utterly baffled as to why his personal guard had been as fragile as tofu.
These people were transcendents, and incredibly powerful ones at that.
Could such strength truly exist in this world? What were they? Were they deities?
‘Perhaps he was dreaming.’
‘Yes, it must be a dream.’
The City Lord’s lips stretched into a grotesque smile. ‘How could this possibly be real? It’s a dream, all fake, all fake.’
Bai Yu surveyed the chaos around her and sighed helplessly.
Just as she had anticipated, Ellie Roth had attacked without a moment’s hesitation.
Given the circumstances, it was clear Ellie Roth would never show mercy to those who intended them harm.
After all, Bai Yu had witnessed firsthand how Ellie Roth dealt with pirates.
Were it Bai Yu, she likely wouldn’t have spared them either, though she certainly wouldn’t have made the scene quite so bloody.
She simply preferred not to behold such gruesome sights.
However, what was done was done; there was no turning back now.
Bai Yu looked at the City Lord before her, though she couldn’t understand a word he was babbling.
Still, she doubted it was anything pleasant, especially with the City Lord looking utterly terrified by Ellie Roth.
“What do we do now? We probably can’t stay in the city. If we linger, more people will come, and that’s dangerous when we don’t know their strength.”
Bai Yu addressed Ellie Roth, acknowledging that since the deed was done, they had no choice but to find a way forward.
They had thoroughly enraged the local nobility, and it was likely that pursuers would be hot on their heels soon enough.
“Uh, I’m not entirely sure. I just… reacted instinctively…”
Ellie Roth scratched her head, blinking helplessly at Bai Yu.
She had even instinctively spared the City Lord, intending to extract information from him.
Only then did Ellie Roth realize their languages were entirely different; communication would be impossible.
“Ah, never mind.”
Bai Yu pulled out [Morpheus’s Whisper] and delivered the final blow to the prone City Lord and proprietress.
In a flash, both their heads exploded, leaving nothing but empty cavities.
“This is…”
Ellie Roth gazed at Bai Yu with a hint of surprise, having never expected her to act with such decisiveness.
She had always imagined Bai Yu to be someone who couldn’t bear to harm any living creature.
“No, I was just a little surprised…” Ellie Roth said, scratching her head awkwardly.
“I can’t just let you bear all the responsibility alone,” Bai Yu stated gravely. “After all, I bear some responsibility here too.”
Though she never wished to take a life lightly, Bai Yu asserted, she would show no mercy to those who sought to harm them.
Granting them a painless death was Bai Yu’s final act of kindness.
“…Thank you.”
Ellie Roth remained silent for a moment, ultimately only able to offer a quiet word of thanks.
“Alright, let’s hurry and leave,” Bai Yu urged. “Someone will surely be here soon, given the commotion we’ve caused.”
Bai Yu took Ellie Roth’s hand, and instead of using the main entrance, they fled through a kitchen window.
This clandestine escape made Bai Yu feel as though they were the perpetrators, despite having been the ones threatened.
Bai Yu sighed, then she and Ellie Roth quickly navigated the labyrinthine alleys, running without pause.
Having learned their lesson, Bai Yu and Ellie Roth decided against drawing further attention. From her wondrous item storage, Bai Yu produced two black cloaks.
These would maximally conceal their appearances and clothing.
As for why Bai Yu possessed cloaks, she had simply taken them from a warehouse earlier, never imagining they would prove useful so soon.
Mere minutes after Bai Yu’s departure, the dining hall’s main doors swung open.
A customer, ready to dine, took one look at the scene and instantly collapsed onto the floor in terror.
“Aaaaaah!”
His loud cries attracted more people.
The newcomers quickly recognized the identity of the middle-aged man.
It was their City Lord!
