Chapter 3: The Missed Touch and a Change of Heart

During the lunch break, Chen Lin began his operation, heading to the upperclassmen’s teaching building.

He felt incredibly lucky today—running right into Senior Meiyue on the stairs as she was coming down.

She seemed to be heading downstairs with her friend for lunch.

Meiyue’s long, jet-black hair cascaded like a waterfall, and her graceful figure seemed to hold a magnetic charm that captivated Chen Lin’s gaze.

Sensing someone staring, Meiyue cast a glance in his direction.

She was an absolutely enchanting beauty—flawless features carved by golden ratio, and her shimmering eyes smiled at him playfully.

If the world were created by gods, and gods had put varying effort into creating humans, then anyone would agree that the girl not far away was surely a masterpiece.

Chen Lin knew he’d been caught staring and quickly averted his eyes.

Like a child who had done something wrong, he clumsily tried to hide his transgression.

Meiyue didn’t scold him. Perhaps she was used to being stared at. She merely glanced at him and walked away.

Not until her figure disappeared completely did Chen Lin snap out of it.

He realized he hadn’t been able to tear his eyes away from her the entire time.

As if a thought struck him, Chen Lin immediately clutched his head with both hands.

‘I missed the chance! I finally met her and did nothing,’ he grumbled to himself.

His muttering was loud enough that classmates in the hallway turned to look, and an embarrassed Chen Lin quickly fled.

They say failure is the mother of success. One failure wouldn’t discourage him.

So Chen Lin stationed himself in the hallway where Meiyue would pass on her way back to class. To avoid looking suspicious, he leaned against the window sill, pretending to play on his phone.

After a grueling twenty-eight-minute wait, Meiyue finally returned from lunch.

Luckily, she was alone this time, without her friend—a perfect opportunity.

In his mind, Chen Lin raised his right hand high and clenched his fist.

‘Heaven helps me!’

If he missed this chance, it would be unforgivable—even his aunt wouldn’t stand for it.

But as Meiyue approached and brushed past him, Chen Lin still didn’t act.

‘I’m such a coward!’ he cursed himself.

When she passed, he hadn’t dared to reach out and touch her.

After deep self-loathing and reflection, Chen Lin decided to try again after school. He wouldn’t give up.

Hiding in the convenience store outside the school gate, he pretended to browse magazines while actually waiting for Meiyue to leave campus.

“See you tomorrow~” Meiyue stepped out of the gate, said goodbye to her friend, and walked home alone.

Carrying her schoolbag with both hands, her demure figure left Chen Lin dumbfounded.

He put down the magazine, left the store, and immediately gave chase.

But after tailing her through several intersections, he chickened out every time he was about to reach out.

“Mom, that big brother has been following that big sister for a while. What does he want to do?” asked a five-year-old boy.

“Don’t look at weird perverts like that. Stay away from them,” the mother replied, hurriedly taking the boy away.

Overhearing them, Chen Lin realized he must look like a stalker in the eyes of passersby.

If he didn’t act fast, it would only get worse.

‘Screw it!’

He roared inside, taking three steps at once toward Meiyue’s retreating figure.

‘My happiness… all bets on this one move!’

Leaning forward, he stretched out his right hand toward Meiyue’s back.

【Right Hand of Love】, please, make Meiyue fall for me.’

But he failed to notice a luxury car parked by the roadside.

The door was kicked open, and a middle school girl in an elite school uniform jumped out. Her skin was as white as snow, lips red as cherries. Despite her petite frame, she blocked Chen Lin’s path and slapped his right hand away.

Her hand was soft, but the hit on his hand still stung.

“Where did this pervert come from? How dare you harass my sister!” The girl glared at Chen Lin, as if she wanted to devour him.

But strangely, after touching Chen Lin’s right hand, her body stiffened, as if struck by lightning, trembling slightly.

Her voice grew softer. At first, she stared straight at him, but meeting his eyes, she averted her gaze.

“I’m not a pervert, I swear!” Chen Lin tried to explain frantically.

Though it was his first time seeing this girl, her slight resemblance to Meiyue and her address told him she was Meiyue’s younger sister.

‘She might be my future sister-in-law. I can’t make a bad impression.’

“Should I call the police, miss?” the driver asked.

“No need. He’s not a pervert; he’s a classmate from my school,” replied Meiyue, who recognized Chen Lin from the hallway.

She looked at him oddly but patted her frozen sister.

“Don’t worry, Shihan. He’s probably not a suspicious person… um, probably…”

“Mm… mm… I don’t think so either…” Shihan said, stealing another glance at Chen Lin. Caught looking, she immediately looked away, her cheeks turning as red as ripe apples.

“Excuse me, sir? Did you need something from me?” Meiyue asked.

Chen Lin couldn’t possibly tell her the truth. And being defended by Meiyue suddenly filled him with guilt.

‘She’s so kind, yet I was about to use this right hand to force her to like me.’

Blinded by the cheat earlier, Chen Lin now seemed to calm down.

‘How ridiculous. Shouldn’t I win her heart with my own strength instead of taking shortcuts?’

He didn’t know if he’d regret it later, but at that moment, he made up his mind. Hiding his right hand behind his back, he decided not to touch Meiyue.
