Chapter 94: A Rare Good Day

Jin Jie walked into the classroom ten minutes after Chen Lin, a bun still hanging from his mouth.

“Mornin’, Mumu,” he greeted Chen Lin, chewing and talking in a muffled voice.

Unlike Chen Lin, whose face carried a trace of seriousness, Jin Jie looked the same as always, as if he didn’t have a care in the world.

“Morning.” Chen Lin nodded back.

After the greeting, Jin Jie went to his seat. He ate his breakfast while pulling his finished homework out of his backpack.

Chen Lin watched Jin Jie do all of this. Then he walked over to Jin Jie’s desk and sat in the chair in front of it.

“Something up?” Jin Jie asked, then took a sip of water, swished it around, and swallowed.

“Nothing. Just wanted to chat,” Chen Lin replied.

“?” Jin Jie gave him a puzzled look. After a moment’s hesitation, he made a noise through his nose and asked, “About what?”

Because Chen Lin and Jin Jie were so familiar with each other, they were long past the stage of having endless things to talk about. They had reached the point where they didn’t know what to say.

The things they could talk about had basically been exhausted long ago.

Unless there was some new topic, there was usually nothing to say.

“We could talk about what you did this weekend,” Chen Lin said.

Jin Jie was full of question marks. He had no idea why Chen Lin was asking this. “Why would you ask me that out of nowhere?”

“Just chatting,” Chen Lin said. Of course he wasn’t about to tell the truth.

“I spent the whole weekend at home playing games. Does that answer satisfy you?” Jin Jie didn’t intend to hide anything.

“Really?” Chen Lin pressed immediately.

Jin Jie didn’t answer right away. He tapped the desk with his finger, then said in a slightly helpless tone, “Come on, why would I lie to you? It’s the same as always. If I’m not at home gaming on the weekend, where else would I go?”

Since Jin Jie said that, Chen Lin had no reason to doubt his friend’s words.

It had been a long time now. Liying hadn’t appeared around him again. The situation he had thought was like a dream had actually happened. Chen Lin could hardly believe it.

He had originally held pessimistic thoughts, expecting that he would definitely run into something very dangerous. He had even mustered the courage to fight the danger to the death.

But in fact, that danger never came. His lecturing had been useful. After Liying had been scolded by him, she never showed up again.

Chen Lin raised his right hand and looked at the glove on it.

Maybe he had been too sensitive. Perhaps this curse wasn’t such a terrible thing after all. Or maybe, after Shihan and Yan, Liying was the third person he had come into contact with, and the curse’s power had weakened somewhat.

Because of the current good situation, some optimistic guesses began to appear in Chen Lin’s mind. He was no longer as pessimistic as before.

“I’m going back to my seat.” Chen Lin said to Jin Jie, then returned to his own seat. Once seated, he even hummed a cheerful tune.

“Can someone tell me what’s going on? What’s up with Mumu today? Can someone tell me what’s going on? His state is weird again today.” Jin Jie frowned as he watched Chen Lin.

He had only said he’d spent the weekend gaming. Why did the guy look happy for no reason?

Jin Jie thought about it for a while but couldn’t come up with an answer. He just assumed Chen Lin’s brain was a little off that morning, so he put Chen Lin out of his mind and stopped worrying about it.

Chen Lin sat in his seat and began to think optimistically about his future life plans.

Maybe Shihan and Yan were just exceptions. Apart from them, other girls might not be that dangerous.

This could be proven from Liying’s case.

Maybe one day, perhaps sooner than later, he wouldn’t need to wear the glove on his right hand anymore.

To be honest, wearing a glove on his right hand was really hot.

His palm was already sweating. The inside of the glove felt sticky because of his sweat.

He really hoped he could get back to a normal life soon.

It had been a long time since his thinking had gone in a positive direction. Unconsciously, Chen Lin began to feel a little carried away. He even laughed to himself while thinking.

Jin Jie glanced at Chen Lin and saw him sitting alone in his seat, grinning for some unknown reason.

He wasn’t even looking at his phone watching funny videos. That would have been normal.

Doing nothing at all was what made him seem weird. In any case, Chen Lin seemed to be immersed in his own little world, amusing himself.

“Does that guy Mumu really have a normal brain? I feel like today he’s unusually out of it.”

Maybe Chen Lin’s behavior was so strange that his classmates unconsciously walked around his desk when passing by. Of course, Chen Lin, in his cheerful mood, didn’t notice the reactions of his classmates. But even if he had, he probably wouldn’t have cared.

Soon the teacher came into the classroom, and the first class of the morning officially began.

The school bell rang, signaling the end of the day’s lessons. The students were dismissed, and Chen Lin packed his bag and left the school.

After walking out of the school gate, Chen Lin stretched. He felt that today his mood was good for the first time in a while.

That kind of relaxed mood hadn’t appeared in a long time.

To celebrate, Chen Lin decided to cook for himself for the first time in a while. He would make a big dinner and properly reward and comfort himself.

But just after he left the school, not long after he started walking, Chen Lin felt a strange sensation.

This feeling was no longer unfamiliar to him. It was like someone was watching him.

Chen Lin didn’t casually turn around to check if someone was really behind him. He didn’t want to scare off the person. Instead, he wanted to confirm who exactly was following him.

Given that, Chen Lin’s mood plummeted from high to low. He gave up the idea of going shopping and headed straight back to his own home.
