Chapter 29: A Tormented Accusation

What was there for him to fear?

Chen Lin reminded himself of this.

Since he had to face it eventually, he might as well let the storm come even more fiercely.

Driven by this belief, Chen Lin answered the call from Yan.

“Hey hey!” As soon as the call connected, Yan’s energetic voice came through the phone.

“Is that Yan?” Chen Lin asked a pointless question. He didn’t know why he said such a thing.

Maybe because he hadn’t figured out what to say but wanted to break the silence, so he chose this nonsense.

“Of course it’s me,” Yan replied happily. “Why are you calling me so early? Don’t tell me it was a butt dial.”

“Do you have time now? Can you come to my place immediately?” Chen Lin asked.

“Huh? Now?” Yan questioned back.

“Yes. Is that not okay?” Chen Lin said.

“It’s not that it’s not okay, but it’s too rushed. You need to give me some time to prepare.”

“Then hurry up and come. I’ll wait for you at home.” After saying this, without giving Yan a chance to respond, Chen Lin hung up the phone.

Finally, he had issued the invitation. Now he just had to wait for Yan to come to him.

Half an hour later, Yan arrived at the door of Chen Lin’s house. She wore a purple-red long-sleeved top and a short skirt, looking very cute together.

To see Chen Lin sooner, she had taken a taxi.

Before receiving Chen Lin’s call, Yan had already left her home. After getting his call, she rushed back to change clothes.

If not for the time wasted changing, it would have only taken about fifteen minutes to reach Chen Lin’s place.

Yan was now very curious. Yesterday, Chen Lin had said he had something important to do and probably couldn’t go on a date with her. Why was he so eager to meet her this morning? What had happened?

Could it be that he had finished his tasks early just to see her?

Feeling a bit pleased, Yan reached out and pressed the doorbell on Chen Lin’s second-floor entrance.

Soon, the door opened a crack. Through the gap, Yan could see one of Chen Lin’s eyes sizing her up.

Because that eye was bloodshot, as if it belonged to a different person, Yan felt a little scared.

“Big brother?” Yan asked tentatively.

Chen Lin only opened the door a crack to look at her, with no intention of inviting her in or coming out himself. Yan didn’t know what he meant.

Just as she was feeling puzzled, the door opened a bit wider, and Yan saw Chen Lin in his pajamas.

Yan shyly covered her eyes but peeked through her fingers at his pajamas.

Chen Lin’s expression was grim. Suddenly, he reached out and yanked Yan into his house without any warning.

“Big brother, what are you doing? You’re hurting me!” Yan complained. Chen Lin was gripping her wrist so tightly that it hurt.

But her complaints had no effect on him; he only tightened his grip.

How could Chen Lin dare to let his guard down around Yan? After all, in front of him was the one who had killed him twice.

No matter how much violence he used, it wouldn’t be excessive.

Moreover, she might be carrying a weapon right now. He had to strike first.

Using his advantage as a high school student with superior physical strength, Chen Lin easily restrained Yan and controlled her movements.

Ignoring her struggles from the pain, he forcibly dragged her into his bedroom and pressed her down on the floor.

Deaf to Yan’s pleas, Chen Lin completely disregarded whatever she was saying.

Since Yan intended to kill him, he had to take her weapon first.

Where had she hidden that weapon?

Chen Lin began searching Yan’s body, starting from her top and meticulously checking every spot, from top to bottom, deeper and deeper, all the way down to her feet. He even took off her shoes and socks.

He examined every inch, even removing her panties and tossing them aside.

But he still found no weapon. Instead of calming down, Chen Lin roared at Yan beneath him, “Where did you hide the weapon? Tell me!”

His furious shouts made Yan’s tears fall in big drops. “I… don’t… know… what… you’re talking about…” Yan sobbed in response.

At some point, Yan’s cheeks were covered with tear streaks. These were the tears she had shed while Chen Lin forcibly searched her.

Bound by his violence, the only thing she could do was cry.

Looking down at the disheveled Yan beneath him, Chen Lin felt a buzz in his head, a slight shock.

He covered his head and asked himself what he was doing.

Seeing that Chen Lin was no longer pressing her down with force, Yan freed her hand. She wanted to slap him hard.

But looking at his guilty face, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Pulling her clothes up to cover herself, Yan wrapped her arms around Chen Lin in an embrace.

“I don’t know what happened, but it’s okay. I’m right here with you,” Yan said in the gentlest voice, trying to comfort him.

Chen Lin didn’t know what expression to wear facing Yan. He just glanced sideways at her.

Her tear stains hadn’t even vanished yet, yet she was the one trying to comfort him.

Chen Lin found her words ridiculous, so full of irony that he didn’t know how to respond.

The one who had driven him to this state was none other than Yan, who was now comforting him.

She was now turning the tables and comforting him. Was there anything more tragic, mocking, and absurd in the world than this?
