Join the ServerIt was already 11 pm. Chen Lin bluntly ordered Liying out.
“Go home?” Liying looked at him, confused. “But I don’t want to go home. Can I stay here for one night, just tonight?”
Chen Lin studied her with a strange expression, then dug at his ear to make sure he’d heard her right.
Seeing that Chen Lin didn’t answer immediately, and afraid he’d refuse, Liying quickly added, “If you’re willing to take me in for tonight, I’ll do anything you ask.”
Chen Lin felt a headache coming on. Liying’s lack of caution had just shattered his understanding of her all over again.
“Go home. Now. Immediately!” Chen Lin shouted at her, shoving her down the stairs to the ground floor as she resisted.
“I don’t want to go home. Can’t you put me up for tonight? Please?” Liying put on a pitiful look, like a girl with nowhere to go being kicked out by her boyfriend.
Chen Lin felt his hardened heart waver. But he held firm and said mercilessly, “It’s already 11. You’re a top student, so get home and do your homework.”
With that, he turned and went up the stairs to his own place, a steel staircase fitted to the outside of the building.
Worried she might follow, he looked back and added, “If you dare come near my place without my permission, I’ll delete your contact and block you. So go home. It’s getting late.”
After saying that, he quickly reached the second floor. All along, he’d been keeping a careful eye behind him for any possible attack from Liying.
Even though she didn’t seem dangerous to him, he figured there was no harm in being careful, so he stayed on guard.
He pushed open the front door, which had been left ajar, and went inside.
But getting home safely didn’t settle his mind. Peering through the gap in the drawn curtains, he checked the situation downstairs to see if Liying had obeyed him and left.
The night breeze was a little chilly, and Liying’s clothes were thin.
Under the streetlight, she rubbed her hands together, then breathed into them to warm them up.
She leaned against the lamp post not far from Chen Lin’s house and stood there, showing no sign of leaving.
Giving her a warm jacket would have been easy for Chen Lin. A simple gesture, he could have done it without a thought.
But he couldn’t. He could only stand by and watch.
He hoped Liying would give up and go home instead of lingering out there.
Standing by the streetlight, for some reason she gave off a vibe that was full of fanservice. The source of this feeling was probably that Liying, right now, had a very sultry air about her.
A cute high school girl like Liying was bound to attract the attention of passersby.
Through the gap in the curtains, Chen Lin clearly saw two guys on motorcycles bothering her. They seemed to be asking her something, while Liying clearly didn’t want to talk to them.
The more she resisted, the more pushy they became.
After hesitating for a moment, Chen Lin finally couldn’t hold back and rushed downstairs.
Only seven minutes had passed since Liying left his place.
“You finally agreed to let me stay tonight? I’m so happy.” Liying said cheerfully.
Chen Lin pressed a hand to his face. He didn’t know why he couldn’t keep his composure at this moment.
Anyway, today was Monday, and Tuesday would bring no breakfast delivery from Shihan in Yan’s place. So in theory, letting Liying stay was perfectly safe.
“I’ll let you stay tonight. But you have to promise me three things,” Chen Lin said to Liying.
“Even thirty would be fine, never mind three,” Liying answered without hesitation.
“First, this is only a one-time exception. From now on, you can’t stay at my place without my permission,” Chen Lin said.
“Second, without contacting me first, you can’t just show up near the people I know.”
“Third, you have to be more on guard with strangers. Don’t make me worry.”
After he listed the three conditions, Liying thought for a moment and nodded. “The first and second are a bit hard, but I’ll try.”
‘The third is the hardest for you,’ Chen Lin wanted to tease, but held back.
He let her stay because he didn’t think there was any real danger.
One night should be fine.
They’d sleep separately, and the night would pass in a single sleep.
As long as she kept the agreement, he wouldn’t lose anything.
“Where do I sleep tonight?” Liying asked.
Chen Lin was generous about that. “The sofa or the bed. Pick whichever you like.”
“I can really choose?”
“Of course. Why would I lie to you?”
“I want the bed… but that might be too greedy. I’ll take the sofa,” Liying said.
Chen Lin waved a hand. “It’s fine. If I gave you the choice, it means I don’t care which one you pick. You sleep in my bed tonight. I’ll take the sofa.”
He went into his room and started tidying the bed. He’d move his usual blanket to the sofa, and Liying, the guest, would use the spare one.
Just as he carried his usual blanket from the bedroom to the living room, he saw Liying take off her white jacket over her school uniform.
“Can I use your bathroom? I want to take a hot shower before bed,” Liying asked.
It was only borrowing the bathroom. Chen Lin wasn’t stingy, and without thinking he answered, “Sure, no problem. Use it.”
But the moment those thoughtless words left his mouth, he regretted them.
A cute girl like Liying showering in a strange guy’s bathroom, was that really okay? He was a red-blooded male high school student, after all!
