Chapter 60: A Temporary Solution

Chen Lin planned to slip away and leave immediately.

Unfortunately, it seemed things wouldn’t be as simple as he had hoped.

Shihan and Yan had a firm grip on his clothes, preventing him from moving even a step.

Yan’s lips curled into a smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “I know this might be rude, but big brother isn’t just saying those things to trick me, is he?”

Shihan nodded in agreement and chimed in, “Yeah, yeah. It feels like you can’t wait to escape. Is this place really that scary?”

Scary? It’s an abandoned basement.

He wanted to say that, but he held back.

Chen Lin realized that those two seemed to have seen through his intentions. But now wasn’t the time to admit it honestly.

Even a dead duck stays hard-mouthed after being cooked.

“You’ve got me wrong. How could it be like you said? And I have no reason to lie to you, right? I already promised you.” Chen Lin laughed awkwardly as he answered Yan and Shihan.

Then he slowly turned to check their expressions. Both of them looked extremely gloomy.

Only an idiot wouldn’t notice that they were in a bad mood. It seemed his words alone weren’t enough to convince them.

So Chen Lin mustered his courage, turned around, and suddenly pulled Yan and Shihan into his arms, one on each side.

He had two hands, one for each.

Since words couldn’t convey his sincerity, he had to act against his own wishes.

Of course, Chen Lin was scared. It felt like he was holding two unexploded bombs.

Was it enjoyable to hug girls? Not at all. He felt no pleasure whatsoever.

“How about this? You should trust me now.” He tried to steady his voice.

“Kiss me!” Yan said to Chen Lin. “If you kiss me, I’ll believe you.”

“What are you thinking? That’s indecent!” Shihan immediately scolded Yan.

Chen Lin silently praised Shihan for helping him out.

“I’m already big brother’s girlfriend. Asking for a kiss is too much? And don’t you want one?” Yan retorted.

Shihan seemed swayed by Yan’s words. She stopped being stubborn and looked at Chen Lin with affectionate eyes.

Chen Lin’s scalp tingled. Why were Yan and Shihan pushing further? He was already exhausted just hugging them, and now they wanted him to kiss them.

But it was obvious that refusing would lead to terrible consequences.

He couldn’t escape. He had to think of something fast.

Soon, an idea struck him. He praised himself for being quick-witted.

Chen Lin released his hold on them and made them stand side by side in front of him.

“Both of you, close your eyes,” he said.

“Why close our eyes?” Yan asked, and Shihan also looked confused.

Chen Lin cleared his throat and explained, “There’s a reason. I said I would treat you equally, so I must be fair.

My first kiss is still mine. Yours should still be yours, right? Closing your eyes puts the upcoming kiss in a Schrödinger state.

Since I only have one mouth, I can’t kiss both of you at the same time. No matter who I kiss first, it’s unfair to the other.

By making you close your eyes, it becomes fair. You both get my first kiss at the same time, without worrying about who goes first.”

Yan wasn’t entirely satisfied with the explanation, but she closed her eyes anyway. She even tiptoed a little to make it easier for him.

“Close your eyes,” Chen Lin said to Shihan.

A blush crept onto Shihan’s cheeks, and she promptly closed her eyes.

Now, to prevent them from peeking, Chen Lin covered both their eyes with his left hand.

Then he used his right index and middle fingers to touch their lips.

He couldn’t bring himself to kiss one after the other.

Besides, he wasn’t even sure if his first kiss was still intact. He had already kissed Shihan once before for some reason.

After doing all this, Chen Lin removed his hand. Yan and Shihan were both dissatisfied. They had felt his fingers, not his lips.

“We’re still minors. Everything indecent is strictly forbidden.” Chen Lin made an X sign with his hands.

Seeing they were still unhappy, he smiled and said, “In a few years, we’ll all be adults. There’s a long future ahead. We don’t have to rush.”

Though they weren’t happy with his answer, Yan and Shihan reluctantly seemed to accept it.

Seeing the crisis averted, Chen Lin breathed a sigh of relief.

Since the situation had spiraled beyond his control, he chose the method most people would: the strategy of delay.

In a few years, time would likely dilute everything. The predicament might resolve itself without him lifting a finger.

After that, Chen Lin soothed Yan and Shihan again, pledging his loyalty and promising to treat them well in the future, before finally being allowed to go home.

Leaving the abandoned construction site, Chen Lin booked a taxi using an app.

Because the area was so remote, he had to add a thirty yuan gratuity. After waiting half an hour, he finally got in.

The taxi took a full hour to get him home.

Once inside, Chen Lin, feeling drained, didn’t immediately collapse onto his bed like a dead pig.

Instead, he carefully searched the house to confirm no one else was there, then slumped onto the living room sofa.
