Chapter 32: A Spoonful of Embarrassment

After finally obtaining Shihan’s consent, Chen Lin shoved it in.

“Mmm~” Shihan let out a somewhat sensual sound.

It couldn’t be helped—the ice cream was just too cold, and her tongue couldn’t quite handle it.

After feeding Shihan that spoonful of ice cream, both Shihan and Chen Lin’s faces were bright red. They only then realized how embarrassing it was to feed someone ice cream.

Yan, watching from the side, stared with dead fish eyes, grinding her teeth in frustration.

Because when Chen Lin had fed her, he hadn’t shown the slightest bit of shyness.

Chen Lin hadn’t yet recovered from the shy moment with Shihan. He casually scooped up another spoonful of ice cream and, as if going through the motions, shoved it directly into Yan’s mouth.

Just as Chen Lin scooped another spoonful of ice cream and was about to feed it to Shihan, Yan finally snapped. She snatched the spoon from his hand and shoved it into Shihan’s mouth herself.

“You’re both old enough to eat ice cream on your own,” Yan said to Chen Lin and Shihan.

Shihan was slightly annoyed at Yan for ruining her moment. “No, I think being fed is quite nice.”

Earlier, Yan had been the one advocating for Chen Lin to feed them, while Shihan had opposed it.

But now, their positions had completely reversed.

Each had their own reasons, and they grew increasingly irritated with each other. For the rest of the outing, their bickering was as frequent as eating and drinking.

Chen Lin, standing nearby, found it all very troublesome, especially when they dragged him into their arguments.

He couldn’t quite understand why Yan, usually such a well-behaved girl, and Shihan, always so proper like a noble lady, would have such a chemical reaction when together.

He had originally thought they would get along well.

After making it through the day, they took the shuttle bus back to the station where they had first met.

Before parting, Chen Lin apologized to Shihan. “Sorry, it was supposed to be just the two of us.”

“It’s fine. I don’t really mind,” Shihan replied politely.

After they parted, Shihan got into her private car and immediately turned sullen.

“Miss, what’s wrong? You don’t look happy,” the driver asked curiously.

When he had dropped her off at the station that morning, she had been in high spirits, but now she seemed in a foul mood.

“Nothing. Just take me home,” Shihan replied.

“Yes, miss.” The driver started the car and sped off.

Sitting in the back seat, Shihan didn’t open the window. Instead, she crossed her arms and sulked.

It was supposed to have been a date with just her and Chen Lin. Where did that annoying Yan come from?

Not only had she ruined their date, but she had also been a constant nuisance throughout the day.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Shihan punched the leather seat with her small fist.

But there was one consolation: Chen Lin had fed her ice cream. Remembering that moment, she broke into a happy smile.

The driver, watching from the rearview mirror, was baffled. One second she was angry and punching the seat, the next she was smiling blissfully.

Was she happy or not? Her mood swings were too fast.

After Shihan left, only Chen Lin and Yan remained at the station.

Chen Lin was still quite nervous. According to his memory, at this point, Yan would kill him.

Though he had already searched her thoroughly and found no dangerous items, that didn’t mean she was safe now.

Maybe she had hidden a weapon somewhere, waiting for him to let his guard down so she could strike.

“Should I walk you home?” Chen Lin tested the waters.

“No need. Just drop me off at the subway station. I’ll go home on my own. You’ve had a long day too, big brother. Go home and rest early,” Yan replied.

Her words seemed innocent, and Chen Lin detected no killing intent.

But even so, he didn’t let his guard down. He accompanied her to the subway station as she requested.

Though he didn’t know her true goal, he wanted to see what tricks she might pull.

At the Kentucky Fried Chicken near the station, Yan said she was hungry. Since they hadn’t had dinner, they went in and bought two sets.

After eating, Chen Lin watched Yan enter the subway station until she disappeared from sight.

And that was it? It was over just like that?

Chen Lin asked himself. Could it really be this simple?

No, he didn’t relax his vigilance at all.

He still didn’t know why Yan wanted to kill him.

Maybe she was just pretending to go home to make him lower his guard, making it easier for her to succeed.

But he wouldn’t let her win. He became even more alert.
