Chapter 38: The Cinema Rivalry

Faced with Yan’s accusations, Shihan appeared completely indifferent.

After all, she had already bought the movie tickets. She playfully winked at Chen Lin, flashing him a meaningful look, then redeemed her ticket and entered the screening hall first.

When Chen Lin got his ticket and led Yan into the hall, Shihan was already seated on the left side of the couple seat he had purchased.

“Big brother, you sit here.” Yan tugged Chen Lin, making him sit on the right side of the double seat, far from Shihan on the left. She then positioned herself as a barrier, warily guarding against Shihan harassing the person she liked.

By now, Yan was certain that Shihan definitely had feelings for Chen Lin. A girl’s intuition about such things was always spot-on.

Shihan stood up and said to Yan, “Excuse me, I need to change seats.”

Without waiting for Yan’s consent, she walked to the right side of the right seat where Chen Lin was sitting and sat down directly.

Yesterday, her couple date with Chen Lin at the aquarium had been interrupted by Yan, an outsider, and she was very displeased. Now, she was returning the favor by interfering in this movie date.

Realizing she couldn’t easily gain an advantage over Shihan, Yan pinned her hopes on Chen Lin.

“Big brother, aren’t you going to say something?” Yan said sweetly, hoping he would notice her feelings and take her side.

If he did that, she would be extremely happy.

Even if he didn’t immediately drag her out of the cinema, just a word or two scolding Shihan would be good.

Unfortunately, although Chen Lin noticed some tension between Yan and Shihan, boys were often dense about such matters.

“It’s fine, it’s just a movie.” Chen Lin said.

Why didn’t the boy she liked stand by her?

Despite all his flaws, though he wasn’t her ideal perfect prince, Yan knew she still liked Chen Lin the most.

At that moment, the lights above the cinema went out, and the screen started playing the routine fire safety notice. In a few minutes, the movie would officially begin.

For now, Yan sat on Chen Lin’s left, Shihan on his right, and this seating arrangement was temporarily fixed.

After the ads ended, the movie officially started.

Perhaps due to lack of sleep from exhaustion, or because the movie’s beginning was unbearably boring and soporific.

Watching the male lead talking to a passerby on screen, Chen Lin felt his eyelids beginning to fervently embrace.

‘I mustn’t sleep,’ Chen Lin reminded himself.

He still needed to keep an eye on Yan, to prevent her from doing anything dangerous.

He knew that, but when his eyelids, which he had pried apart with difficulty, closed again, he fell asleep in a second, entering a sweet slumber.

Soft snores even sounded.

Yan naturally noticed. She couldn’t really blame him—the movie’s start was indeed boring.

Since Chen Lin was asleep, Yan carefully moved her head and leaned it on his left shoulder.

Actually, she wanted to rest on his shoulder, but due to height differences, she could only manage his upper arm.

Shihan also detected that Chen Lin had fallen asleep. Though a bit shy, after a brief mental struggle, she cautiously rested her head on his right shoulder.

At that moment, Shihan felt incredibly happy.

Spending so much of her allowance to buy the eight surrounding seats had been totally worth it.

Generally, around a double seat, there were ten adjacent seats: four in the front row, four in the back row, and one on each side.

The reason Shihan only bought eight seats instead of all ten was that the two seats directly behind Chen Lin’s double seat had already been taken by two high school boys.

Without girlfriends, they had come to kill time watching a movie. Little did they expect to be literally shoved with dog food from the front row.

Having one girlfriend was bad enough, but left one and right one—both very cute girls. Comparing people really could drive one crazy.

Envy, jealousy, resentment. Jealousy turned people into members of the FFF Inquisition.
