It was hard to believe.
But somehow, Na Naya wielded that heavy hammer with ease.
It felt almost natural in her hands.
“Doesn’t matter.”
Na Naya slung the hammer back.
“So, what’s the plan? We doing a mission today?”
“Well…”
Meng Linna paused.
“How about we skip missions today?”
“?”
Na Naya stepped closer, narrowing the gap.
“You scared to go on a mission with me? Am I that terrifying?”
Meng Linna wanted to say yes but, for her own safety, shook her head.
“No. I just have something to do. Been putting it off. Want to handle it today.”
“Hm?”
Na Naya tilted her chin, waiting for an explanation.
Meng Linna hesitated.
It was personal.
Even teammates shouldn’t pry, right?
But Na Naya’s expectant look made her cave.
“You’ve seen it. I’m turning into a vampire.”
“Yeah.”
Na Naya nodded.
“So, you got bitten?”
Meng Linna thought, then decided to explain.
“It’s weird. I was sleeping, and some damned bat bit me. That’s how it happened.”
Na Naya nodded.
“You sound so wronged. If I find that damned vampire, I won’t let her off easy.”
Meng Linna looked helpless.
“But that’s pointless. I came to Yanan to find a cure for vampirism.”
“So you’re seeing a doctor today?”
“Of course.”
“Oh.”
Na Naya nodded, staring at Meng Linna.
Meng Linna felt uneasy under her gaze.
“So, what’s your plan today. Lead the way.”
Meng Linna blinked, confused.
“Lead what?”
“You’re going to the doctor, right?”
Na Naya’s tone was matter-of-fact.
“Lead the way.”
“Wait.”
Meng Linna couldn’t hold back.
“You’re coming with me?”
Na Naya kept her expression.
“Aren’t we teammates?”
Meng Linna faltered.
“But this is personal.”
She wanted to say Na Naya was overstepping.
But that felt too harsh.
For team camaraderie—and to keep their newly mended bond—she held back.
“I’ve got nothing else to do. Might as well tag along.”
Na Naya crossed her arms.
“Besides, a heinous criminal like you needs watching. Or you’ll go ruin more innocent girls, right?”
‘So it’s fine if I ruin you?’
Meng Linna stared at Na Naya’s youthful face, exasperated.
“Your bias against me is too much.”
Na Naya shook her head stubbornly.
“It’s not bias.”
“Whatever.”
Unable to argue, Meng Linna led her out of the guild.

Yanan, famed for its unique blood therapy, had solid medical services.
The only downside?
Expensive fees.
But Meng Linna, after adventuring, had over a hundred gold coins.
“Number 1933!”
“Coming!”
Meng Linna clutched her ticket, entering the clinic.
Na Naya followed, closing the door.
Inside sat a literary-looking girl with glasses.
Her wavy black mushroom-cut hair gave a gentle, reserved vibe.
Round, frameless glasses on her small nose added a scholarly air.
She seemed more like a classical literature grad than a doctor.
“Please sit.”
The girl patted the chair, signaling Meng Linna.
She glanced at Na Naya.
“Family can stand or sit on the couch. Just don’t interrupt.”
Na Naya waved it off.
“I’m not her girlfriend.”
“?”
Both turned, puzzled, as if questioning her words.
Realizing her slip, Na Naya smiled awkwardly.
“I won’t interrupt.”
She sat on the couch.
‘Family usually means sister or something, right?’
‘Their relationship might be interesting.’
The doctor, Yushi, smiled softly and focused on Meng Linna.
“Tell me about your condition.”
“Sure, I was bitten by a vampire…”
As Meng Linna spoke, Na Naya battled the evil fire god in her mind.
“Your mindset’s off lately.”
In a quiet corner, the god started again.
“You lonely? Want a big sister to cuddle?”
The god loved teasing Na Naya.
As a parasite bound to her, she was its favorite target.
“Hallucination.”
Na Naya wouldn’t spare a word.
“No need to tag along to her doctor visit. You’re just worried she’ll die, right?”
The less she spoke, the more the god teased.
Less a forging god, more a troublemaker.
“As I said, I’m watching her. She’s a danger to society.”
Na Naya explained, annoyed.
“And vampirism’s not fatal.”
“Do you like vampires?”
“Crazy.”
Na Naya wanted to drag the god out and beat it.
Too bad she couldn’t.
“Or do you just like her? Vampire or human, you don’t care?”
Na Naya ignored it, countering.
“Know any vampirism cures?”
