The title of this volume is “The Saint Candidate Wants to Understand.” Just as the title suggests, it’s about Nanaya’s process of understanding. As for what exactly is understood, on one hand, she seeks a deeper understanding of the senior who once embraced her but later changed drastically and abandoned her; on the other hand, she tries to understand her own inner thoughts.

Despite harboring resentment over the past betrayal, deep down she still believes in her senior, that first love shining like a white moon. I wanted to portray Nanaya’s tangled feelings like this.

I’m someone who likes to do things step by step. Whenever I outline a volume, I tell myself roughly how much progress it should make.

For example, the first volume was about Menglinna’s journey to seek forgiveness. So before the first volume ended, Nanaya’s resentment over being left behind grew even deeper. And by the end of the second volume, Nanaya still hadn’t fully recognized her own feelings.

So yes, I admit the pacing was a bit sluggish. I’m truly sorry about that.

Maybe I should have added a “slow-burn” tag earlier. I like to save the best for last, and sweet love is the same. Perhaps in this fast-paced era, I should change that—definitely keep it in mind for the next book.

The next volume will be more direct. Having recognized her emotions, Nanaya will step into a more aggressive phase. Meanwhile, the timid Lady Menglinna, lost and afraid, will subconsciously try to escape, only to find Nanaya’s grip tightening step by step. That’s the tone of the upcoming volume.
