“You’re finished.”

The goblin raised its shield, advancing step by step toward Nanaya.

As long as the shield absorbed her weapon, she wouldn’t be able to struggle at all. In Lulida’s eyes, Nanaya was already a lump of twitching flesh.

On the side, Shiya and Kaili were trying to cover Nanaya, but she stopped them. “Don’t come over.”

Though unsure what Nanaya was planning, out of trust for their teammate, they kept their distance and threw their weapons at the goblin.

“It’s useless.”

Lulida brushed aside their weapons and continued walking toward Nanaya.

But Nanaya just stood there, muttering under her breath, “Flame of the Evil God.”

The already burning fire giant’s whip acted like tinder, igniting the goblin’s shield as well.

The smug goblin only then noticed something was wrong. The shield was made of iron—even under high heat, it should only melt into molten iron. So why was it burning like this?

The youngling remains embedded in the shield had long been melted away by the evil god’s flames and fallen to the ground. Without the protection of those remains, this ordinary shield was nothing before the evil god’s fire.

Before the goblin could even scream, Nanaya’s whip fell directly on its head, knocking it flat.

A pillar of flame suddenly rose from the ground, completely engulfing the goblin’s body, searing its flesh. When the pillar slowly died out, only the large head of the goblin subspecies remained on the ground.

Behind her, Shiya was stunned for a moment before slowly approaching Nanaya and saying, “We… does this count as a successful subjugation?”

Shiya stood there, hesitant, looking at Nanaya, not knowing what to do.

“Don’t you know I’m the god who governs flame?” the Flame Evil God’s words slowly surfaced in her mind. “I’ve been working for you for so long. Isn’t it reasonable to ask for a little reward?”

Nanaya didn’t rush. She calmly asked, “Not unreasonable. Let me hear what you want.”

“I love fire—whether stirring up trouble or setting things ablaze. Since you’re going to burn down this fortress anyway, let me do it, okay?”

It seemed like it wasn’t a matter of principle. After thinking it over, Nanaya finally agreed. “Fine, but first return control of my right hand.”

“Okay.”

Having received Nanaya’s consent, the Flame Evil God readily handed back control.

Feeling the return of her right hand’s control, Nanaya couldn’t help but put the fire giant whip back on her belt and clench her fists.

“It should be fine now,” Nanaya called the three over. “Let’s sort out the loot first.”

Though puzzled by Nanaya’s recent actions, Shiya didn’t ask too much. After all, Nanaya was a saint candidate; it was normal for her to sense danger. Hadn’t she predicted that this goblin was no ordinary one before Lulida arrived?

Only Menglinna, at the back, looked at Nanaya with some doubt, a thought stirring in her heart.

‘That sudden pillar of flame was truly puzzling. Although the fire giant whip could spew fire, the flame that melted everything just now looked so much like that evil god’s fire.’

‘Something to keep an eye on.’

Menglinna stroked her chin and decided to investigate thoroughly later.

The group cut off the left ear from the goblin’s corpse as proof of subjugation. As for the burned Lulida, that large skull on the ground was the only evidence.

Nanaya bent down and picked up the necklace that had fallen to the ground—or rather, the remains of an alien creature.

The purple, round stone felt slightly cool in her hand. If not for the Flame Evil God’s reminder, Nanaya would never have thought it was the youngling of some extraterrestrial being.

“Since you defeated that goblin yourself, this item rightfully belongs to you alone.”

The other three had no objections to the ownership of the youngling remains, so Nanaya put it in her pocket.

The goblins didn’t have much valuable loot. Even the iron caltrops in Lulida’s hand were completely destroyed by the flame pillar. Besides the ears for the commission, there was nothing else.

“Stand back. I’ll burn down the whole fortress.”

Nanaya thought for a moment and decided to fulfill her promise to the Flame Evil God.

The three obediently nodded, then stood at a distance, waiting for Nanaya to set the fortress ablaze.

“Simple. Once you give me control of your body, I can see the outside through the mark.”

“What’s there to worry about?” the Flame Evil God said nonchalantly. “It’s just your teammates around here. Those two idiots with melee weapons don’t recognize my totem at all. As for the blonde with big breasts, even if she finds out, it doesn’t matter, right?”

“No!” Nanaya firmly rejected his idea. “No matter what, put the mark away immediately!”
