Chapter 133: An Unexpected Morning

Menglinna woke up surprisingly late today.

Perhaps it was the severe sleep deprivation from yesterday’s mana overdraft. In the end, it was little Sister Anna who woke her up.

“Dean? You still have to lead the sermon today!”

“Oh, I’ll be right there!”

The door lock had actually been fixed yesterday, so Menglinna had returned to her own room to sleep.

After sending Anna away, Menglinna glanced at the clock.

It really wasn’t early anymore. If she dawdled any longer, she’d miss the sermon entirely.

Throwing on some clothes, Menglinna hurriedly pushed open the door.

The sermon was about to start!

Even though she was running late, Menglinna still had to step onto the pulpit on an empty stomach.

The girl preached…

“…and finally the two of them kissed. What a happy ending!”

As it turned out, the adventurers really enjoyed Menglinna’s story. Hearing the good ending, they couldn’t help but applaud.

But everyone had their own things to do. Within two minutes of Menglinna declaring the sermon over, the church was empty again.

Menglinna had been hungry for a long time, but now her body had started burning fat, so the initial hunger had faded, leaving only fatigue. She didn’t rush to leave; instead, she sat down on a nearby bench.

Looking at the empty church, she murmured to herself, “Preaching like this every day, does anyone really come to believe in our religion?”

“Probably very few?”

A voice suddenly appeared at her ear, startling her. Turning around, she found Nanaya sitting beside her, flashing a sweet smile.

To be honest, after yesterday’s events, Menglinna wasn’t sure how to face her.

“When did you sit beside me? I didn’t hear a sound.”

Nanaya smiled. “Just now. I even made footsteps.”

“Mm.”

Menglinna didn’t dare look at her, fixing her gaze on the floor.

Nanaya wasn’t annoyed. She asked softly, “Are you afraid of me?”

“No, I’m not.”

Nanaya’s voice took on a slightly challenging tone. “Then why won’t you look at me?”

The more she retreated, the more it showed her guilt. Maybe it would encourage the other to push further.

Thinking this, Menglinna suddenly turned her head. “Who said I don’t dare…”

The last syllable died in her throat because, the moment she turned, she realized how close they were. Nanaya’s faint smile filled her entire vision.

Perhaps because of yesterday, Menglinna instinctively leaned back. The reason was simple: if they were too close, she wouldn’t be able to dodge a kiss.

“So you are still afraid of me?”

Nanaya’s tone was a little playful, but her eyes held a hint of melancholy.

What was this? Was she making herself look like a bad adult who made a little girl cry?

Giving in, Menglinna explained, “I was just startled because you suddenly got so close.”

“Heh.”

Nanaya didn’t deny it.

A brief silence fell between them, but soon Nanaya pulled a steamed bun from her pocket. “You didn’t have breakfast, did you?”

She held it out to Menglinna.

It was already this late…

Menglinna wanted to refuse, but the look in Nanaya’s eyes made her uncomfortable. “Fine, I’ll eat it to avoid wasting food.”

Without thinking too much, she took the bun from Nanaya’s hand.

Nanaya said nothing, just propped her chin on her hands and stared at Menglinna with interest.

Feeling the gaze, Menglinna couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you staring at me like that?”

“Because you’re so pretty!”

“I really am pretty.” Menglinna shamelessly accepted the compliment—though it was true. “So if you want to look, you have to pay.”

Nanaya’s smile remained light. “If I win you over, then I won’t have to spend money, right?”

Still chewing the bun, Menglinna looked stunned. “Are you joking?”

“I’m not joking.” Nanaya leaned in a little and said slowly, “To save the daily fee for looking at your face, I’m going to win you over.”

Remembering yesterday’s forced kiss, Menglinna shuddered. “Then I’ll waive your viewing fee. From now on, you can look at my face for free, okay?”

Nanaya’s eyes twinkled. “But I won’t be satisfied with just staring. Your sleeping face, your shy expression when confessed to, the expression you make during intense exercise—I want to see a lot of things! And I want to be the only one who sees them. So I still have to win you over.”

Cold sweat broke out on Menglinna’s back. “That’s… almost harassment.”

“So?” Nanaya extended both hands. “Are you going to cuff me?”

Menglinna wanted to say more, but just then she heard the door open behind her.

It was Sister Anna, who was in charge of cleaning the church today.

Seeing them, Anna greeted them cheerfully. “Dean, Miss Nanaya, you two haven’t left yet!”

“Thanks for reminding me this morning,” Menglinna said, holding up the bun. “I really overslept. I’m just having breakfast now.”

Anna glanced at the bun. There was a small bite mark on the other side, but it seemed Menglinna hadn’t noticed.

A quick look at Nanaya next to her made it clear what had happened, but Anna wasn’t one to gossip. She just smiled. “Morning sermons are really tiring. But it’s good that you have such a warm and considerate girlfriend.”

Menglinna blinked. “Girlfriend?”

“Huh?” Now it was Anna’s turn to be puzzled. “Did you and Miss Nanaya break up?”

Oh, so that was it!

After Nanaya and Noqiji played cards yesterday, their mistaken relationship had been brought into the open. After the rumor-monger confirmed it with Miaomiaonia, everyone in the church assumed they were a couple.

If she denied it now, it would certainly hurt Nanaya’s face.

Of course, Menglinna didn’t deny that she also wanted to use Nanaya as a shield against Jijige.

After all, she had experienced Jijige’s love for drinking in her previous life. They could be drinking buddies, but as a wife? That was a bit much.

Everything is relative. Menglinna couldn’t help but glance at Nanaya beside her.

In comparison, the loli was indeed more to her taste…

But she quickly suppressed that dangerous thought. Sure, Nanaya was a legal loli over eighteen, but talking about love at this stage? Probably not.

Hearing Menglinna’s answer, Nanaya breathed a sigh of relief and casually placed her hand on Menglinna’s thigh. “If you’re not used to it, I can confess to you a few more times!”

Now it was Menglinna’s turn to be dumbfounded. This woman really did take an inch and go a mile.

Anna snickered slyly and asked, “So Miss Nanaya was the one who confessed first?”

“Of course! After all, the Dean is only honest with her body!”

Nanaya laughed as she closed the distance, almost sitting on Menglinna’s lap.

Too close, too close. They were about to stick together…

Menglinna forced herself to focus on the bun in her hand, ignoring their conversation.

“So the Dean is a tsundere?”

“Yeah, yeah!”

There was really no way to stop them from chatting like this.

“Ahem… Anna, if I remember correctly, your task today is to clean the church?”

Faced with Menglinna’s wavering threat, Anna had no choice but to pout and give up this golden gossip opportunity.

She must have hit a sore spot, that’s why she reacted like that!

Anna thought so and picked up her broom to focus on cleaning.

With a bit more quiet, Menglinna concentrated on the bun.

Nanaya was still restless beside her. If she didn’t hurry, that hand might start wandering.

Not wanting to give her a chance to play some strange game, Menglinna bit into the bun quickly—and then she noticed the bite mark.

‘You did that on purpose, didn’t you?’

Menglinna glared at Nanaya, questioning with her eyes.

Nanaya didn’t deny it. She just said softly, “Don’t waste food!”

Pfft!

Some thoughtless little nun let out an inappropriate laugh.

Menglinna, feeling embarrassed, shoved the rest of the bun into her mouth and stood up to leave. Nanaya followed closely behind.

Even when she reached her dormitory door, Nanaya showed no sign of giving up. Menglinna frowned but let her follow inside.

Some things were better said upfront.

With that thought, Menglinna sat down on a chair.

Nanaya didn’t stand on ceremony; she sat directly on the bed, as if she were the mistress of the room.

Menglinna wanted to scold her, but when Nanaya stretched out and lay down, the corner of the blanket lifted, revealing things she shouldn’t have seen.

They were… silk.

Focusing on the matter at hand, Menglinna coughed twice and looked at Nanaya. “So, what exactly do you want?”

“What do I want? Simple.” Nanaya kicked off her sandals and lay face down on the bed. “I want you to be my wife.”

Such a shocking statement tore Menglinna’s eyes away from the white-stockinged legs. “Are you getting back at me?”

Nanaya thought for a moment, then nodded. “If you want to see it that way, yes. As revenge for your betrayal, you’ll spend the rest of your life compensating me.”

“Compensating with a lifetime? That’s a bit heavy, isn’t it?”

Menglinna pouted. “You’ve already forgiven me.”

“So this is revenge.” Nanaya smiled. “Whether you’re willing or not, I’m doing this.”

That angered Menglinna a little. “It’s not as simple as you think.”

“But it’s not impossible.”

“This is also love.”

‘Love after marriage is fine too. I know a senior who said that a kiss doesn’t count as a first kiss if you’re just trying it out.’

Using her own words against her—Menglinna had to steel herself. “That still has nothing to do with love.”

“If it has nothing to do with love, then let’s try it first,” Nanaya said, licking her lips. “It’s not love anyway, right?”

Unable to argue further, Menglinna changed the subject again. “So why me? I’m such a scumbag. There’s nothing worth lingering over.”

“Don’t say that!”

At this topic, Nanaya suddenly stood up and walked closer to Menglinna.

“Before, I really missed the warm ‘Sister Meng’ who would sneak out to eat with me and share a bed at night. So when you abandoned me, I was angry for a long time.”

Menglinna didn’t dare meet her eyes. It was true—she had done those things.

“But now, seeing you become soft and pliable because of your mistakes has a unique charm!”

With that, Nanaya sat directly on Menglinna’s lap.

This had happened countless times these past few days. The distance between them shrank once more.

“You must have lost your mind!”

Menglinna wanted to escape, but her current position didn’t allow her to retreat further.

‘I can’t let her lead me around…’

But the question was, would Nanaya allow it?

The once warm and kind older sister now presented a soft, easily manipulated appearance—who could resist pouncing?

At least Nanaya couldn’t.

Eager to seize every moment, Nanaya leaned in. If she wanted, she could kiss her lips anytime.
