Chapter 126: The True Name of the Flame Evil God

Menglinna had to think of another way. Instead of focusing on Naya’s mouth, she looked at the pattern on the other’s arm.

“Alright, Fram, I think you can hear our conversation, right?”

“Haha, I didn’t expect someone to still know my true name at a time like this.”

The Flame Evil God’s tattoo glowed faintly as Menglinna called out to him. A wisp of flame slowly rose from Naya’s skin.

Watching the humanoid flame rise from her hand, Naya suddenly felt a chill of fear. “Why can you take this form?”

Just before daybreak, the Flame Evil God couldn’t contact the outside world without her permission.

“If you want power, you have to pay a price, right?” The Flame Evil God smiled, then looked at Menglinna. “So, mortal, what business do you have with me?”

Menglinna didn’t mince words. “Fram, could you please leave Naya’s body?”

“Ha?” The Flame Evil God crossed his arms, a look of disgust on his face. “You little girl have no manners. Not only do you speak a god’s true name so casually, but you also dare to make such a request?”

Menglinna didn’t indulge him. She stepped forward and grabbed the flame humanoid’s cheek. “You’re the one who doesn’t understand the situation. You’re just a powerless wild god, and you dare to put on airs in front of me? Believe it or not, I’ll piss on you until you die!”

“Ow, ow, ow!” The Flame Evil God, caught off guard by the direct pinch, instinctively backed down out of fear of pain. “I won’t dare, I won’t dare! Don’t kill me!”

“That’s more like it.” Menglinna let go of her defeated foe’s cheek with satisfaction. “So when will you leave her body?”

“But I really can’t do that. It’s not a question of whether I want to or not; the problem is I can’t leave.”

“Is it because she’s been feeding you well and you don’t want to leave?” Looking at this petite god, Menglinna just wanted to expel him quickly.

“No, no, absolutely not!”

Meanwhile, Jijige was spacing out in her office.

As a capable archbishop, Jijige’s work ability was decent. The tasks that needed handling were mostly done—as for the quality of her work, well, don’t ask.

The to-do items on her notebook were crossed off one by one, leaving only one: preparing materials for Naya’s job change.

The materials had been ready for a while. The only problem was waiting for the other party to come pick them up.

Jijige thought about it. Since both of them were part of the Meng family camp, showing a bit of goodwill wouldn’t hurt. It wouldn’t be a problem for her to deliver them in person.

With that in mind, Jijige took the materials and headed to Naya’s room.

As soon as she stepped out of her office, a flock of chattering nuns surrounded her, asking in unison, “Archbishop, where are you going?”

Used to these young nuns who loved to pry into everything, Jijige replied casually, “I’m going to see the saint candidate. She should be in her dormitory, right?”

“Ah, you mean Sister Naya!” “The one who’s really close to the dean!” “Rumor has it they’re… you know…”

The “dean” they mentioned was Menglinna. Although it had started as a temporary title, it seemed Menglinna had become the actual dean of the church.

For some reason, whenever Naya was brought up, the most prominent label attached to her by these nuns seemed to be her connection to Menglinna. Jijige couldn’t help but clench her fists.

Sure enough, she couldn’t let her guard down around that woman.

So where was she…

“Ah, I saw her being dragged into the dean’s room earlier.”

“I see. Thank you so much!”

Forcing down her anger, Jijige smiled kindly at the surrounding nuns.

What was that woman up to, getting so close to Naya?

Jijige didn’t want to think about it. If she kept thinking, she’d surely explode with rage.

“Archbishop, you don’t look so well. What business do you have with the saint candidate?”

The little nuns, as noisy as sparrows, persisted, as if they had to know everything. Jijige had to pat their heads and muster some authority as archbishop:

“As the archbishop of this church, it’s my duty to monitor the saint candidate’s growth and provide assistance when needed—like now. So I can’t continue chatting with you all. We’ll talk later, okay?”

Hearing the firmness in Jijige’s tone, the sparrows finally dispersed.

Having dealt with the chirping little birds, Jijige wasted no time and headed straight for Menglinna’s dormitory.

As for why she knew Naya was in Menglinna’s room, or why she had to go straight into Menglinna’s room to find Naya without waiting—Jijige didn’t think about those reasons at all.

Right now, she only wanted to do one thing: check the room.

Naya’s sleeves had been burned by the flame, completely unable to cover the tattoo on her arm.

Throwing a long-sleeved hoodie at her, signaling her to put it on, Menglinna walked to the door.

“Ha, so you were inside,” came Jijige’s relieved voice from the other side. “Why didn’t you answer me earlier?”

Menglinna made something up. “Haha, I was just busy with something and too focused to hear you.”

“Busy with what, so focused?”

“I was praying.”

“Mm-hmm.”

With such a calm tone, Menglinna could almost picture the peaceful smile on Jijige’s face behind the door.

Maybe she wouldn’t want to come in?

Of course, that was impossible. The next second, Jijige’s voice turned irritable. “Then why won’t you open the door? Nanaya is in there, isn’t she? Are you two doing something weird?!”

Without waiting for Menglinna to explain, Jijige punched the door lock, shattering it.

With the lock gone, Jijige easily pushed open the door.

Facing a stunned Menglinna, Jijige looked her over carefully. Her clothes seemed fine, her hair wasn’t messy—nothing unusual had happened.

But she still pushed past Menglinna and looked deeper into the room.

Unsurprisingly, Nanaya was sitting on Menglinna’s bed in a duck-like pose, wearing a hoodie that didn’t fit her at all—the hem was too long, and the chest area was oddly loose.

Even with her gut, Jijige could tell whose damn hoodie that was.

“Can you explain why you’re in Menglinna’s room?”

Menglinna stepped forward to explain. “Well, she actually came to—”

“Shut up!” Jijige glared at Menglinna. “I’m asking her!”

To this question, Nanaya couldn’t even be bothered to think of an excuse. “I’m in my girlfriend’s room. What do you think I’m here for?”

“Ha?! When did you two become that kind of relationship?!”

The impact of this declaration was so strong that Jijige temporarily lost the ability to think, continuing the conversation only through biological instinct.

“We’ve been together since before you came back. If you don’t believe me, ask Miaomiaonia.”

Undoubtedly, this was true. But the relationship between them only existed on the surface—no kissing, no extreme acts, at most Nanaya bullying Menglinna one-sidedly.

Jijige turned to Menglinna. “Is that true?”

Menglinna didn’t answer, but the blush on her face seemed to say everything.

“Oh, I see.”

Jijige nodded, then put down the bag in her hand and looked at Nanaya. “This bag contains the job change materials I promised you. I’ve delivered them now.”

“Thanks?”

“You’re welcome.”

Somewhat dazed, Jijige walked out of the dormitory and then went straight to her own room to lie down.

Seeing the crisis temporarily resolved, Menglinna let out a long sigh of relief.

But since the door lock was broken, they couldn’t discuss that kind of issue for now.

After telling Nanaya not to act rashly, Menglinna went next door to buy a new lock.

Although Jijige had broken it, she was the church’s archbishop. How could a mere nun like Menglinna ask her for compensation? She just had to accept her bad luck and fix it herself.

While Menglinna was out, Nanaya didn’t sit idle. Since Jijige had delivered the materials, she might as well use the time to perform the job change.

In most cases, people’s jobs were determined by actual practice: if you stood at the back of the party and cast spells with a staff, you were a mage; if you charged forward with a greatsword, you were a warrior.

This broad classification didn’t have specific requirements. Menglinna suddenly remembered that if someone walked on the edge of the party with a dagger, they could be called an assassin, as long as their teammates recognized it. Such roles should be called team positions rather than jobs.

But jobs like Judgment Warrior weren’t like those broad team positions. They required special means to obtain, and what they demanded was far more troublesome than simply leveling up.

However, each special job had its own unique characteristics. For example, the Judgment Warrior that Nanaya was preparing to change into was a special branch among priests. It abandoned traditional priest healing miracles in favor of offensive miracles, emphasizing attack.

Nanaya opened the bag. Inside were few items, but ordinary people couldn’t collect them easily.

“Saint’s blood, fragments of the Judgment Pillar, and a one-time ritual diagram.”

After carefully checking that the materials were correct, Nanaya returned to her own room.

Since it was just a job change, it probably wouldn’t take long, so she might as well do it in her own room.

Using the saint’s blood, she drew the complete shape on the ground according to the ritual diagram, then used the fragments of the Judgment Pillar to anchor the dead corners of the formation.

Nanaya stepped directly into the center of the hexagram. As soon as it sensed someone entering, the formation began to operate.

What she had to do was use the saint’s blood as a bridge to receive the goddess’s trial.

It was said that such trials usually pulled the job changer into an illusion. Even if injured, it wouldn’t affect the body in the real world.

Nanaya took a deep breath. When she opened her eyes again, she was already in the illusion.

The surroundings were all gray. The colors of this world seemed to have been swallowed up, leaving only a dim world of gray and black.

Although it was an illusion, the sensations were still there. Nanaya looked around. She seemed to have arrived at a mountain.

It was so hot. Could this be…

“Hey, what are you standing around for? Keep moving!”

Someone shoved Nanaya from behind. She turned around, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make out the person’s face. All she could tell from their clothes was that they were from the church.
