“Kidnapped?”

Tifna glanced again at Milly’s elegant dress. This wasn’t the attire of a s*ave. Though some traffickers did dress their captives well—better price, better condition.

The story was possible.

Starlight City had banned slavery long ago. But underground trade still existed—conducted in secret, moved to remote locations.

Yet deep into the middle of a monster-infested forest? Unlikely.

Unless—during transport—the caravan was attacked by beasts. Some A-rank monsters did wander near the outer edges. Maybe she got lucky and escaped in the chaos.

That part… could work.

But then—there were the bodies.

Thunderwolf—killed by overwhelming lightning.
Shadow Scorpion—pierced by blade, finished by electric surge.

Two A-rank threats—both dead.

One girl did this? She was worth an entire elite squad.

How could someone this strong be captured by slavers?

Most holes in her story could be patched.

But this one? Impossible.

“Then you should have a s*ave brand—something suppressing your power.”

Ah. That made sense.

A magical seal, locking her strength. Broken when the trafficker died in the beast attack.

But even if the master died, the contract didn’t vanish. Only destroying the contract or removing the brand could free her.

Milly’s heart lurched.

No s*ave brand. Stacy hadn’t given her one.

Only the thorn sigil from that first night—on her collarbone.

She’d already lied. No choice now.

She had to use it.

“Here.”

She unbuttoned her dress—revealing smooth skin.

Then—slowly—the faint thorn sigil emerged.

“Idis, come here.”

Tifna called outside.

Soon, a blue-haired mage girl in robes entered.

“Tifna nee-chan, what is it?”

“We’ve been over this. Call me Captain in public.”

“Yes, nee-chan.”

Tifna sighed, rubbing her temple. Despite the rebuke, Idis’ playful wink made resistance futile.

She stepped inside.

“Can you remove this?”

“I’ll try.”

Idis drew runes in the air, chanting softly. Her fingertip glowed with holy light.

Purify.

She touched the sigil.

A soft white glow spread—

At first, nothing. Just warmth.

Then—the thorns twitched.

Like something alive.

No!

Tifna lunged, yanking Idis back—

Too late.

Idis gasped—blood seeping between her fingers.

The thorn sigil lunged—wrapping around her hand like a serpent.

Back!

Tifna drew her sword—slashing the tendril just as it sank deeper.

Idis collapsed, coughing blood. A charred wound marred her palm—matching the now-vivid sigil on Milly’s collarbone.

The thorns withdrew—slithering back under Milly’s skin.

Staring at the mark, Milly felt a chill.

This wasn’t just a punishment sigil.

It was dangerous.

Strong enough to fight back—to injure a mage.

Stacy was scarier than she thought.

And now—she’d caused harm to someone who tried to help.

Even if it was Stacy’s fault… guilt gnawed at her.

“I’m… sorry. I didn’t know…”

She touched the sigil. It used to just hurt when she misbehaved. Now? It fought for its life.

“It’s fine,” Idis groaned, pulling out a healing potion. “Just… my magic wasn’t strong enough.”

Halfway through drinking—she froze.

“Oh no… I’m dying!

She flopped onto the ground, flailing like a fish.

Milly blinked—utterly confused.

Tifna just sighed, used to it.

Nee-chan~ My hand hurts… only your kiss can heal it!” She pressed her bleeding finger to Tifna’s lips.

“According to Magic Incident Emergency Protocol, Chapter 17, Section 4,” Idis said, dramatically opening her robe to reveal no injury at all, while hooking her thumb into her panty waistband—featuring unicorns, “When a healer is injured during duty, the captain must provide emotional therapy.”

Her blue eyes glistened. She leaned in. “Like… full of love and passion…”

Tifna sidestepped.

Idis lunged—missed—and faceplanted.

Her robe slipped—exposing unicorn-print panties.

Milly’s eyes widened. Was this allowed?!

Nee-chan, you’re mean!

Her tantrum failed. Tifna sighed, wrapped her up like a mummy, and tossed her out.

You’re the worst!

Silence.

Tifna turned back to Milly—now pale, the sigil faded again.

“Don’t mind her. Idis is strong. If she couldn’t remove it… the one who branded you must be powerful. Someone high-ranking in the city.”

Milly exhaled. Safe. They still believed her.

But then—

Tifna’s next words froze her blood.

“The one who marked you… is her name Stacy?”
