Chapter 133 : It’s Just the Right Way

“Who’s there?” The girl turned, her green eyes filled with caution.

Damn it, Milly cursed under her breath. She had successfully hidden her wings and tail, but her appearance was too noticeable. If she had remained locked up, people would only rely on descriptions or wanted posters, which were never completely accurate. But she had been publicly judged just days ago. Disguising herself now would be difficult.

A faint spark of electricity at her fingertips. If the girl recognized her, Milly would use a weakened current to knock her out, not kill her.

Just then, the girl saw Milly, dirty and hiding behind the bush.

Their eyes met. The girl gasped and stumbled back.

I’ve been found.

Milly was ready to attack, but the girl’s chest heaved, and she quickly recovered.

“Phew… you scared me. I thought you were a bandit. This road hasn’t been safe lately. Last week, Mr. John’s carriage was robbed.”

The girl patted her chest, clearly relieved. Milly lowered her hand.

“Why are you hiding here, little sister?” The girl tilted her head. “Bandits have been active. Were you attacked?”

The girl clearly took her for an ordinary girl who had been robbed. Milly didn’t let her guard down. The girl might recognize her, and this was just a facade.

“Come out. I’m not a bandit. I won’t hurt you.”

The girl held out her hand. A faint scent of milk and hay.

“Don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you.”

Her green eyes were full of concern. The look reminded Milly of Tifna, the first time they had met, when she had assured her she meant no harm.

Milly shook her head, clearing her thoughts. Before the girl could pull her out, Milly stood up.

The girl hadn’t recognized her. Milly was relieved.

The girl’s smile remained. In her eyes, Milly was just a scared girl who had been through a traumatic experience.

“By the way, I’m Lisa. I just bought some supplies in Mecca Town and I’m heading back to Ilias Village.”

“Ilias Village?”

The name was familiar. She had heard it somewhere.

When she and Tifna were in the carriage heading to the border forest, they had passed a small village. Tifna had mentioned it.

The name was Ilias Village.

The girl’s appearance was too coincidental.

Mecca Town was unknown to Milly. Her strange accent was probably a regional dialect.

Based on the information, the girl wasn’t a resident of Starlight City. She probably didn’t know about the bounty. The information network here wasn’t fast enough. And the local adventurers wouldn’t spread the word.

She had only escaped last night. The news shouldn’t have spread that far. And Stacy… she was probably trying to contain the news.

Milly was silent. She couldn’t believe she was relying on Stacy. She was letting her guard down.

If she continued like this, she would become dependent on Stacy, even as she hated her.

No… the thought terrified her.

The girl called out to her again.

“Are you okay?”

Seeing the concern in her eyes, Milly shook her head.

“I’m fine.”

The girl’s concern faded. Milly noticed a familiar catchphrase.

“Now…”

Milly had only heard one person use that word. She wanted to use her appraisal skill to check.

She focused her eyes on Lisa’s face.

The text that appeared made her freeze.

No…

She looked at the back of her hand, where the book sigil was. A few lines of clear text appeared. The sigil was working fine.

She looked at Lisa again. Still no text.

Just like the walls and ceiling in the dungeon.

Her previous theory was that the appraisal skill only worked on objects or people with information she could process. Lisa was a background character.

But that was just a theory.

The appraisal skill wasn’t broken. It meant that Lisa wasn’t that person in disguise.

“What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”

Lisa blushed, touching her hair.

“Nothing.”

“By the way, I don’t know your name.”

Her name?

Only a few people knew it. Since Lisa was just a background character, she didn’t need to lie.

“Milly.”

“Milly, are you from Starlight City? If you were from Mecca Town, I would have known you.”

So, there were only Mecca Town and Starlight City nearby.

“I left Starlight City yesterday to hunt monsters. I ran into…”

Before she could finish, Lisa grabbed her hand.

“Then we’re heading the same way. The trip’s been boring. I was hoping for company.”

Without waiting for her answer, Lisa pulled her onto the carriage.
