Chapter 83 : The Curtain Falls

The moment the cold light flashed, time seemed to freeze.

Tifna’s sword struck true. Although she hadn’t inflicted any real damage, her distraction had been enough. The holy light broke through the black spikes’ defense and hit Stacy squarely in the chest.

From the moment she had spared Tifna, this outcome had been set in motion.

In the end, she had created the opportunity for her own demise.

Stacy looked down. Her chest was dissolving at a visible rate. New flesh tried to form, only to be consumed by the faster annihilation.

The surprise they had prepared for her was more powerful than her healing. At this rate, her existence would be completely erased in less than half a minute.

She tore off a piece of her own body and threw it into the distance. As long as a small part remained, she could regenerate.

But the moment it left her body, it vanished into the night sky.

She had to give them credit. They had prepared well, completely neutralizing even her monstrous regeneration.

But it had to be this way.

A tendril wrapped around Tifna. The fire of revenge in the silver-armored girl’s eyes made Stacy’s lips curl.

Before she disappeared, she had enough time to crush the girl like an insect. But she didn’t.

She just dropped her. The fall wouldn’t kill her.

Most of Stacy’s body was gone now. She looked at the three remaining people, a strange smile on her lips. It was not the bitterness of defeat, nor the fear of annihilation.

In her final moments, she was still mocking them, her eyes filled with an unsettling anticipation, as if everything that had happened was just a part of her carefully crafted script.

“Game over. Congratulations on your victory~”

She emphasized the word “congratulations.” Even in her final moments, her words were infuriating. With that, her figure completely vanished from the night sky.

This was the end of the Fell God.

There was not a trace of her presence left in the air. The moment her existence was confirmed to be erased, Oswell stumbled and fell to his knees. The golden light in his eyes faded. The entity that had possessed his body had left.

The surroundings fell silent, so quiet that only the sound of the night wind could be heard.

“Is it… over?”

Tifna sat in a pool of blood, the pale moonlight reflecting off her silver armor.

The moment Stacy disappeared, the clouds that had obscured the moon scattered, as if the heavens themselves were celebrating the demon’s demise.

She trembled, staring at the spot where Stacy had vanished. Her fingers could no longer hold her sword. It fell to the ground, breaking the silence. Tears streamed down her face.

“The Fell God is gone. It’s all over.”

She murmured to herself, then wiped her tears and looked up at the sky. A few stars seemed particularly bright tonight.

“The stars are the eyes of our lost loved ones, watching over the living.”

Her brother’s voice echoed in her ears. Were those bright stars a sign that he was watching over her?

“Brother… did you see? It’s over. The Fell God who tortured and killed you is finally gone…”

Fresh tears welled up. The thrill of revenge didn’t last long, replaced by a vast emptiness.

What now? Where should she go?

She had lost her brother, her purpose for revenge, and her.

She had nothing left. What should she do now?

She had charged at Stacy with the intention of dying. She had survived the first attack, and the second. She had been prepared to die.

She had created an opportunity for the Pope to kill the Fell God. As long as the Fell God died, she could avenge her brother.

But she had been spared again.

Why?

She was alive, but her eyes were filled with confusion.

What would she live for now?

She didn’t know. But for now, in this moment of victory, she would let her tears flow…

At the same time, Oswell, having composed himself, walked toward the magic circle. Because of Stacy’s actions, the three cardinals had gone mad and started attacking each other. It was a little late, but maybe there were survivors.

After the great battle, the next step was to clean up the battlefield.

Only Lillian still stared at the spot where Stacy had disappeared, her fingers digging into her palms.

“Tell me, Stacy, what are you planning now?”

But no one would answer her.

Stacy’s existence had been erased. She had witnessed it with her own eyes.

She replayed the battle in her mind. From the moment the Pope’s body had changed, Stacy had kept looking back, as if she knew Tifna would appear.

She could have easily ignored Tifna’s distraction. But she had deliberately dodged, creating an opening for Oswell to hit her.

And the entire battle with Oswell, she hadn’t been serious at all.

So, she had deliberately sought death?

Thinking of the smile on Stacy’s face in her final moments, a chill ran down Lillian’s spine.

Even though she had disappeared before her eyes, she had a strong feeling that the madwoman would not go down so easily.

Why did she seek death?

She couldn’t figure it out. How ironic. As her other half, Stacy knew everything about her, but she knew nothing about Stacy.

“Reinforcements will arrive soon,” Oswell’s voice brought her back to reality. “We must first secure the Fell God’s legacy.”

He had to find what Stacy had stolen.

“I understand.”

She stood up and helped Tifna, explaining the situation. Tifna nodded.

She followed them. The Fell God was dead. There should be no more danger.

The newly repaired gate of the fortress was blasted open by holy light.

Inside, Lillian and the Pope moved together, searching for what Stacy had taken.

Tifna should have been with them, but she found herself unconsciously walking toward the depths of the fortress.

She felt a strange pull, as if something were drawing her in.

She followed it to a closed door. The protective ward on it was weak. With its master gone, it wouldn’t last long.

The next moment, Tifna drew her sword and broke the ward, pushing the door open.
