Not expecting Milly to suddenly turn the question back on her, Stacy’s fingertips paused slightly before picking up a strand of Milly’s hair.
“Milly… do you really intend to face everything alone, crossing countless demons to face the revived Demon King?”
Although Milly was the hero chosen by the Goddess, the hero prophesied to defeat the Demon King, charging single-handedly into the Demon King’s castle was still far too reckless.
The prophecy and the Goddess’s blessing were not excuses to indulge in such recklessness.
Furthermore, the Demon King’s castle housed not only the Demon King, but also the Four Heavenly Kings of the demon race under his command, as well as countless demon soldiers.
Even if Milly’s strength was truly unparalleled, facing a demon army surging towards her like a tidal wave, even the strongest hero would be overwhelmed.
No matter what, she absolutely could not let Milly be so reckless all by herself.
Even if she was the hero chosen by the Goddess who could defeat the Demon King in the prophecy, she couldn’t just do nothing and let her charge in there completely alone.
At the very least… at the very least she had to…
“What if I said, that is exactly what I plan to do.”
‘After all, since I already know the direction of the Demon King’s castle, I have no reason to stay in the city. I might as well set off directly tonight.’
The movements of Stacy’s hands behind her instantly froze.
Her fingertips, which were playing with the hair, subconsciously tightened, and the strand of hair she had hooked was pulled hard by Stacy’s movement.
It wasn’t very painful, but it still caused Milly to let out a faint yelp of pain.
Hearing the noise coming from Milly, Stacy looked down and noticed the strand of hair she had yanked.
“I’m sorry…”
Releasing her fingers, Stacy could feel her heart clench as she heard Milly say those words.
Milly wasn’t going to defeat the Demon King; this was simply going to her death.
She absolutely could not let her be so reckless all on her own.
“No, even if you are the chosen hero, you absolutely cannot be this reckless.”
Milly couldn’t see the expression on Stacy’s face right now, but it wasn’t hard to guess that her expression must be very serious.
However, Milly actually didn’t plan on charging in completely alone.
She could probably handle the Demon King by herself, but before facing the Demon King head-on, there would likely be a lot of mob enemies to clear out.
If she really fought her way into the Demon King’s castle alone, before she even saw the Demon King, she would probably be exhausted to death by the countless mobs.
Therefore, she needed a squad as a support to help her clear out those mobs blocking the way.
Otherwise, Milly would have no choice but to play the ‘Train Conductor’.
She would have to ignore all the mobs along the way and run straight to the Demon King.
She didn’t know how the aggro system was set up in this world, either; would the aggroed mobs chase her the entire way?
To make matters worse, this world didn’t have bonfire checkpoints set up, so she couldn’t save her progress along the way.
She could only do a one-life clear, otherwise Milly would actually really like to try the Train Conductor playstyle.
If worst came to worst, after failing, she would be teleported back to the bonfire checkpoint, and then continue her three-hundred-and-sixty-five-mile journey straight to the final boss room of the Demon King’s castle to face the Demon King.
It sounded pretty good in theory, but unfortunately, this world didn’t have a bonfire mechanic.
Moreover, once she entered demon territory, she would probably be hunted down by every demon in the area.
If she accidentally crashed and burned this time, there would be no one coming to save her.
And more importantly, Milly had no way to confirm whether dying in this save file meant simply exiting this memory to return to the Corridor of Memory, or if it meant true, absolute death.
Therefore, she couldn’t gamble; she could only aim for a one-life clear.
Behind her, Stacy was still speaking words of dissuasion, insisting that no matter what, she wouldn’t let Milly act so recklessly alone.
Her thoughts interrupted, a wicked smile curled upon Milly’s lips.
Just directly laying everything out with Stacy right now would be a bit boring.
So, Milly decided to tease Stacy a little more, wanting to see how she would react next.
“You’re right, going entirely alone is indeed a bit too reckless.”
Hearing Milly’s words, Stacy subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
It seemed her persuasion had worked; Milly must be planning to give up on her reckless solo endeavor.
The next second, Milly abruptly changed her tune, and Stacy’s heart instantly leaped into her throat.
“Two people wouldn’t be considered reckless, so I plan to find someone to fight our way into the Demon King’s castle together.”
Was there any difference between two people and one person?
Wasn’t this still just acting recklessly and going to the Demon King to seek death?
The only difference was that, compared to one person, two people might not die quite as quickly.
Moreover, Milly also said she wanted to find one person to accompany her to fight into the Demon King’s castle.
Wasn’t this just calling for an unlucky bastard to go die together…?
Two people.
Milly wanted to find one more person to go with her.
On the way to the Demon King’s castle, there would only be the two of them…
Stacy suddenly fell into silence.
As the Saintess, her duty was to guide the hero’s path.
If Milly really wanted to bring one person along, as the Saintess, she absolutely had to accompany Milly no matter what.
Going together… meant that on this journey, it would only be the two of them.
Two people relying on each other, supporting each other as they walked on…
Her mind unconsciously drifted back to everything that had just happened in the bathhouse.
Thinking of those ambiguous scenes, Stacy’s face instantly turned bright red.
If it was just the two of them accompanying each other on the journey, it didn’t seem entirely impossible, right?
“If you must bring one person along, then I…”
“Didn’t our Saintess just think this was reckless? What, you want to mess around together?”
It was an expected reaction, but what was somewhat unexpected was that the breathing of the Stacy behind her seemed to become a bit rapid.
What on earth was this Saintess thinking about now?
“This is my duty as a Saintess… but, if you really are going to be reckless, I… I will go with you.”
She really gave this answer without the slightest hesitation.
Although they were in two different save files, Stacy hadn’t changed at all in making this choice.
She had clearly told that person before that she would never forgive everything she had done.
Yet the result was that she still secretly followed behind her, and whenever things went wrong, she would always use her tentacles in the dark to solve the problem.
Later on, she even transformed into the village girl Lisa to follow her, just to hide her identity and travel alongside her.
And now, this Saintess version of Stacy directly and decisively stated that even knowing it was reckless, she would still mess around together with her.
From this perspective, this person really hadn’t changed one bit.
Forget it, this was enough.
She had originally planned to continue teasing Stacy, but Milly realized that she actually wasn’t good at this at all.
Moreover, if she continued speaking like this, Stacy would definitely take it seriously.
She might even go back to the sanctuary in a moment, gather everyone, and announce that the hero would set off tonight to crusade against the Demon King.
That would put her in a very awkward position where she couldn’t back down, although going with just the two of them wasn’t completely unacceptable.
“Alright, I also know that going with just two people is still too much of a stretch; we need at least a small squad.”
“But the squad doesn’t need too many people either, it just needs to be an all-elite team.”
Stacy behind her seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
But within that sigh, why did Milly detect a faint hint of disappointment?
Was it because she had originally made up her mind to mess around together with her, but now hearing it wasn’t necessary, she felt a bit dazed and disappointed?
However, Stacy quickly collected her emotions. “It’s really best not to be reckless.”
“But speaking of squad members, I do have a few candidates in mind here, and I can summon them tomorrow morning.”
“Tomorrow morning, then. Let’s make our final preparations before we set off.”
