Success?

No.

The moment the barrier shattered, Broken shattered with it.

Stacy lowered her hands, that mocking smile back on her lips.

“Now, Little Milly, you didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?”

A glimmer of hope, extinguished in an instant.

She reached out and grabbed Milly’s neck. The little one’s body trembled, then erupted in a violent surge of electricity.

“You never learn.”

The current was stronger now, but how much of the Thunderwolf’s power did she have left? And had she forgotten? This level of electricity was useless against her.

She glanced at the pillars in the hall. A cruel smile. Milly’s body was strong enough now. It wouldn’t kill her. It would just hurt a little.

With a flick of her wrist, she sent Milly flying. She soared through the air in a graceful arc, then slammed into a stone pillar like a broken kite.

Dust and debris exploded. The entire hall seemed to shake.

Oops, a little too much force. But that should be enough to calm her down, make her more obedient.

The dust cloud hid Milly from view. No sound. Had she knocked her out? She hesitated, considering whether to send a tendril to check.

A flash of white light cut through the dust.

Good. The little one was tougher than she thought.

Milly emerged from the dust, her wings unfurled, holding her aloft.

So, she had finally learned to use her wings for something other than decoration.

A smile touched her lips. Was she going to attack with that broken sword?

It seemed so.

Why couldn’t she just give up? Wouldn’t it be easier to just obey?

Stacy’s face darkened as Milly dove from the sky. Just before the broken blade could strike, she flicked her finger. An invisible shockwave slammed into Milly like a tidal wave.

A brief struggle, a muffled grunt, and Milly was sent flying again.

“Thud!”

Her back hit the pillar again. The broken sword flew from her hand and dissolved into light, reabsorbed into her body.

Her small wings drooped, covered in dust. Her long tail curled at her side, the tip twitching in pain.

Her beautiful white hair was now a mess, strands plastered to her face. She was a pathetic sight.

Looking at Stacy, still seated on her throne, Milly wiped the blood from her lips.

The power gap was too great. Now she understood the helplessness the Sword Saint’s squad must have felt.

This woman was a monster.

From start to finish, she hadn’t even used a proper attack, yet the pressure was a hundred times greater than the Shadowblade Beast.

She held her breath. Exhaled. Looked at Stacy. Her pupils trembled.

All she could see was darkness. No weak points. Was she just… unbeatable?

She pushed herself up, grabbing a piece of rubble. She aimed at Stacy.

“It’s not over…”

She panted, a faint spark of lightning on her fingertips. Weaker now. Had she used up the last of her stored energy?

But she could still throw it.

Just as she was about to, Stacy was in front of her.

“Enough!”

Her face was dark. She slapped the stone from Milly’s hand.

From the moment she had brought her back, prepared a bath, a meal… what had she done that was worse than what that human who abandoned her had done? Yet the little one still refused to obey.

She was determined to fight her to the end.

But if she just obeyed, none of this would have happened.

“Why can’t you just be obedient?” Stacy’s voice held a hint of frustration. “If you just listen, if you just cooperate, you wouldn’t have to suffer. Don’t you understand?”

“Obey?”

A mocking glint in Milly’s eyes, the same one Stacy so often wore.

“Obey? So I can wag my tail at you like a dog?”

Stacy was silent for a moment. Her grip on Milly’s wrist loosened, then tightened again.

“Little Milly, are you challenging me?”

“So what if I am? Go ahead, kill me. If you don’t, one day… mmmph…”

She grabbed Milly’s throat and lifted her. She hadn’t wanted to do this, but Milly had asked for it.

The air grew still. The only sound was their breathing.

Stacy’s fingers tightened. A cracking sound from Milly’s wrist. It was as if she wanted to crush it.

And she could. Seeing Milly’s face pale with pain, she held on until the very last moment, then released her.

“What do you gain from challenging me? Or is it…” A dangerous glint in her red eyes. The little one’s healing ability was incredibly strong.

And with her healing magic, her body could recover from anything, no matter how far she pushed it.

“Little Milly, are you enjoying this?”

“Only a psycho like you would enjoy this.”

Milly shot back without hesitation. “I’d rather die than be your obedient pet.”

“Shut up!”

Stacy grabbed her throat again, watching her struggle. She didn’t let go.

“I won’t kill you. But that’s all.”

She threw Milly to the ground, a purple flame igniting on her fingertip.

“Ordinary pain doesn’t work on you anymore. So, I hope you like this gift.”

She knelt, the flaming finger tracing a line on Milly’s neck. It should have burned, but instead, a heat spread through her body, her breathing quickening.

What had she done?

“You know, in the days you were gone, I thought of you every moment. So, I made this surprise just for you.”

“It’s a sigil that turns pain into pleasure.”

She just needed to infuse the last bit of magic, and it would be complete. But before she could, Milly bit her finger.

“Let go!”

Stacy frowned, trying to pull her finger out. Just then, something strange happened.

The magic that should have been flowing into Milly was reversing, flowing back into her. Not only that, but the sigil began to twist, forming a new, unfamiliar shape, not just on Milly’s neck, but on her own as well.

“What’s happening?”

Before Stacy could react, a wave of pain washed over her.
