X
The night was dark, but the camp was brightly lit, the army making its final preparations.
The air was thick with tension. The wait for the scouts to return felt endless.
Once they had the details of the Fell God’s territory, the army would launch a full-scale attack from the north.
Everyone here knew this would be a difficult battle. It was a one-way trip for most of them.
After all, their opponent was the legendary Fell God, the one who had defeated even the Sword Saint Agnes.
Tension and unease filled every heart, but now, there was no choice but to fight.
As the army prepared, Saintess Lillian prayed at the rear of the camp. As her prayer ended, a holy light emanated from her, enveloping everyone in the camp.
“The holy light will protect you all.”
Tifna stood by her side, sword at the ready. This was the condition the Pope had set for her to join the crusade.
She was to be Lillian’s guard, to stay by her side at all times.
After letting Milly go, Tifna had gone to the Pope and demanded to join the crusade against the Fell God.
As the last of her generation of the Luminess family, her request had initially been denied. Oswell had tried to stop her, but her heart was filled with nothing but the fire of revenge.
He knew that even if he refused, she would find a way to join the army.
In the end, he had to compromise, making her Lillian’s guard, to keep her at the rear.
This was her first time in a battle of this scale. As she patrolled the camp with Lillian, she saw many familiar faces. They were not as strong as her brother, but they were all elites of the Empire.
If they failed to kill the Fell God, this battle would be a devastating blow to the Empire.
“Lady Tifna, you seem uneasy.”
“Perhaps.”
After all, they were about to face a legend. Most of them had only heard her name. It was said that no one who had seen the Fell God had ever returned alive.
Soon, she would face the one who had defeated her brother. What could she do?
She didn’t know. She only knew that if she was in danger this time, there would be no one to stand in front of her.
A figure flashed in her mind, gradually merging with a small, white one.
Why was she thinking of her now? Tifna, you should know, it’s all over…
The girl beside her suddenly looked downcast. She must be thinking of her lost brother, Lillian could only guess.
Looking at the preparing army, she could only continue to release her holy light, trying to protect everyone. But she knew that from the moment this crusade began, the outcome was already decided.
Stacy knew their time and place of attack. She would appear whenever she wanted.
“The scouts have been gone for a long time.”
The moment Tifna spoke, a flicker of surprise crossed Lillian’s face. Yes, it had been a long time. They should have been back by now.
There was only one possibility. Stacy had made her move.
The next moment, as if to confirm her theory, a dark figure slammed into the edge of the camp.
The campfire illuminated the figure. A twisted corpse, all bones broken, a look of terror still on its face.
“Form up!”
They couldn’t see where the body had come from, but they all knew what it meant.
With the Paladin Commander’s roar, dozens of Platinum Knights formed a square. With Lillian’s holy light, the shield in front of them was stronger than ever.
They would be the front line, holding off the Fell God’s attack, buying time for the others.
But a question arose in everyone’s mind. They were supposed to be the attackers. They were supposed to wait for the scouts and then attack. Now, the tables had turned. The Fell God had come to them.
When they looked, their pupils shook.
Even with the Saintess’s blessing, they couldn’t even see the shadow that flashed in the darkness. The holy shield shattered like paper.
Tears streamed down her face. She saw it, a silver figure in the moonlight. She had imagined the Fell God to be a terrifying monster, but before them stood a beautiful, silver-haired woman. Her crimson dress was like blood in the moonlight.
But her beautiful face was a mask of cold frost.
Tifna could only watch as something pierced the holy shield and then expanded, crushing the Platinum Knights into a pulp.
Cold sweat dripped from her forehead. She had imagined the Fell God to be strong, but this was beyond comprehension. Those were Platinum Knights, and they were crushed in an instant, without even a scream.
In that moment, Tifna realized that her brother must have felt the same helplessness.
The power gap was too great.
Although the front line was broken, these were the elites of the Empire. They quickly prepared for a counterattack.
But their attacks were deflected before they even reached the Fell God, blocked by an invisible barrier.
What was that?
Tifna could only see from a distance, something emerging from under the Fell God’s skirt, and something similar on the ground. The camp was filled with screams.
With every flash of the ghostly silver figure, several men would explode into a mist of blood, their cause of death unknown.
This was a one-sided slaughter.
Her trembling fingers could barely hold her sword. Why? Why was the gap so great?
But, watching the figures charging at the Fell God, something ignited in her heart. The courage to face death, or the foolishness of seeking it?
Lillian grabbed her wrist. To go now would be suicide.
“But.”
In the center of the battlefield, the Fell God was on a rampage. Tifna knew that even if she went, what could she change?
She had thought that with the Empire’s elites, she could avenge her brother, or at least witness the end of the Fell God.
But now, they couldn’t even break her defense. The Empire’s elites were like ants before her.
Why was the gap so great?
Just then, a thick holy light enveloped Tifna. She heard a sigh, and then a powerful voice.
“Go, child. The Goddess will bless you.”
“But, Your Holiness.”
Before Lillian could protest, Tifna’s figure had vanished.
She was close. Very close.
As Stacy pierced a knight’s chest, Tifna made her move.
She was a falcon, diving through the battlefield. The moment Stacy turned, revealing an opening, her sword erupted in a searing holy light.
“This is for revenge.”
The blade slammed into Stacy’s barrier. A cracking sound.
Success?
Surprised, Tifna quickly adjusted her stance, ready for a second strike, but she met those crimson eyes.
A mocking smile on the Fell God’s lips.
“Well, well, who do we have here?”
A heavy blow to her abdomen. A massive force. The next moment, Tifna was sent flying like a broken kite, landing hundreds of meters away, unconscious.
She had held back, just enough to knock her out, not kill her.
“For Little Milly’s sake, I’ll spare your life.”
