Chapter 99 : A Special Healing Method

A little tail had appeared behind her.

Directly using force was the easiest method, but it would only cause unnecessary trouble. Based on her answers this morning, Milly’s greatest value was to remain hidden.

With Lillian’s silent permission, Tifna maintained a safe distance, following behind her.

Lillian going out at this hour was a surprise, but Tifna saw it as an opportunity. If she knew what Lillian was doing at night, she might be able to find the source of her strange behavior.

Lillian’s destination confused her. It looked like she was heading toward the kitchen.

And she was.

Perhaps Lillian was just hungry and going to make a midnight snack. But Tifna thought of another possibility, something beyond a simple midnight craving.

The porridge Lillian was cooking wasn’t for herself; it was for Milly in the cell.

But why do it secretly at night instead of openly during the day?

Lillian had never brought Milly food during Tifna’s three days on watch. Tifna had been the only one to bring her food, which Milly had refused.

But Tifna couldn’t be sure until she saw Lillian deliver the porridge to the dungeon.

Lillian didn’t immediately put the porridge in a bowl. Instead, she took out two leather water bags. One was filled with water, the other was filled with the hot porridge.

So, she was indeed bringing Milly food.

Lillian finished tidying the kitchen and prepared to leave. Tifna quickly retreated into the shadows. Lillian headed toward the dungeon. Tifna maintained her distance.

Lillian’s movements were strange. Why the secrecy? If Tifna followed her, she might find the answer.

Soon, Lillian arrived at the dungeon gate.

The Pope had added a new rule: only those he personally assigned could enter.

With the Saintess’s status, she should be able to enter directly, right?

The next moment, the two guards went limp and collapsed.

The sight shocked Tifna. This was unlike the Saintess. And judging by the smooth execution, it wasn’t her first time.

Had Lillian’s behavior been abnormal since yesterday?

Questions flooded her mind. When Lillian entered the dungeon, Tifna cautiously followed, watching her approach Milly’s cell.

The guard at the cell door was Xavier, the Platinum Knight she had seen earlier. With a single glance, he was sent flying, crashing against the wall.

Tifna had heard rumors of the Saintess’s strength, but she had never seen her fight during the crusade. She hadn’t known her true strength.

The scene stunned her. A Platinum Knight, the strongest in the Church’s ranks, defeated in a single blow?

When did Platinum Knights become so weak? Or was her opponent simply too strong?

As Tifna was trying to recall the events, Lillian retrieved the key from Xavier and opened the cell door, approaching Milly.

The next moment, Tifna’s vision blurred, and she collapsed, passing out.

The peeping Tom was taken care of. Now, it was just them.

She cleaned the holy water from Milly’s body. Just like last night, she chased away the cold, and then a gentle healing light enveloped Milly.

Milly’s face returned to normal. Her skin healed quickly.

The little one’s self-healing was weak. The holy water damage today had probably exceeded her current capacity.

She withdrew her fingers. Milly’s face was back to normal, her breathing steady.

She took out the water bag and gently placed Milly on her soft lap. She supported her head and brought the bag of porridge to her lips. Before that, she dipped her finger into the porridge, tasting it. The temperature was perfect.

She remembered Milly’s fondness for sweets. She had added some sugar to the porridge. She hoped the little one would have sweet dreams after eating.

The moment the bag touched her lips, the sleeping girl unconsciously opened her mouth, slowly swallowing the porridge.

She liked it.

If she had only known earlier that changing bodies would allow her to cook normally, Milly wouldn’t have hated her food so much.

She remembered the night she brought Milly home, the feast she had prepared. It was all Milly’s favorite food.

But Milly had refused to touch it and even attacked her.

She had reheated the cold meal and left it by the cage, but Milly had avoided it.

This was the first time Milly had accepted her food. Even if it was involuntary, she had eaten it.

She wondered what Milly would do if she suddenly woke up and saw her face. She would probably refuse the food.

A bitter smile touched her lips. When this was all over, maybe their relationship would soften a little.

She withdrew the bag and took out the other one, filled with water. She only gave Milly a quarter of it.

Milly was full. Time to think about tomorrow’s meal.

That done, it was time for the main event.

Her fingers touched Milly’s eyes. Ordinary healing magic wouldn’t work. But she had a special method.

Her own body would have been the most effective, but her body was gone. She was trapped in Lillian’s body.

She had some ideas on how to break the seal on the Pope’s body. She just needed a little more time. Then, the same trick wouldn’t work on her.

Lillian rolled up her sleeves and cut her wrist.

The blood didn’t fall. It hovered in the air, forming a red crystal.

“This might hurt a little.”

The next moment, she remembered something and touched Milly’s and her own neck sigils.

“Now, the pain won’t matter.”

The blood crystal slowly melted into Milly’s right eye. Lillian immediately bit her lip.

Pain, like a tidal wave. She instinctively reached for her eye, but her hand stopped in mid-air.

She knew this was only the beginning. She had to remain absolutely calm.

Her blood-stained finger touched Milly’s right eye. Using blood as ink, she drew a complex sigil around it.

The pain made her vision blur, cold sweat dripping down her pale face. With every stroke, her breathing grew ragged.

Her whole body trembled, but her hand was steady. She knew she couldn’t make a mistake.

When the last stroke was complete, she finally released her lip. She stumbled backward, gasping for air.

But before the pain subsided, she forced herself up, biting her bleeding lip again.

The right eye was done. Now, for the left.
