Join the ServerFeeling the warmth emanating from her body, Gern offered a symbolic struggle for a moment, then simply allowed Lilia to hold her.
Just moments ago, she had truly felt as though she walked through the gates of hell. The sensation of death remained vivid in her memory.
By now, Gern had died a full three times. The first was her rebirth after death, the second occurred when confronting the Heretic God Cult, and the third was this recent incident.
Fortunately, the Kindling within her proved potent enough. Even when her Serpentwoman form perished, it could pull her back from the precipice of death.
This fact still astonished Gern. The power wielded by the individuals of the Witch Guild was truly terrifying.
“It’s good that you’re alright. So long as you’re alright…”
Lilia held Gern, her tears still streaming down uncontrollably.
Beside them, Aivia watched the scene unfold, feeling utterly bewildered, unsure if she should remain.
Staying here only deepened the questions swirling within her mind.
First and foremost, how could Gern return from the dead? Secondly, how was Gern’s body capable of switching between multiple races?
Had she not possessed such a profound memory of Gern’s unique blood aura, she would never have recognized the white-haired girl before her as Gern.
In this form, Gern certainly possessed a unique charm.
“Cough, Lilia, please let me catch my breath. I’m finding it a little hard to breathe.”
“Oh! I’m so sorry, so sorry.”
Lilia’s face flushed for a moment. Though her embrace on Gern softened considerably, she still clung to her, unwilling to let go.
Gern found herself between laughter and tears at Lilia’s reaction. It was the first time she had witnessed Lilia in such a state, crying so profusely out of worry for her.
Without reason, Gern felt a warmth bloom within her, as if something had taken root, slowly dispelling the coldness in her heart.
Perhaps…
‘No… that couldn’t be. She was the one who had killed me in my previous life. How could I possibly harbor such feelings for her?’
Gern shook her head, banishing that fleeting fantasy from her mind.
Lilia noticed the fleeting blush that crossed Gern’s face, and a faint smile touched her lips.
She could feel Gern slowly accepting her. Even if Gern occasionally indulged in a small fit of pique, Lilia knew she held a place deep within her heart.
With this thought, Lilia’s actions towards Gern grew even more tender. She feared that even a slightly clumsy movement might shatter the doll-like girl in her arms.
Observing the scene from the sidelines, Aivia silently declared it unbearable. She could no longer stand the atmosphere between the two of them and desperately needed to find a place to compose herself.
As for the questions in her heart, she would address them later, once the two had finished their affectionate moment.

After Aivia departed, only Lilia and Gern remained.
Having endured the intense emotional turmoil, the atmosphere between them gradually settled.
The tear stains at Lilia’s eyes had dried, leaving behind only a blooming smile.
She was also curious about Gern’s recent experiences and the changes in her body.
Previously, she might have attributed Gern’s transformations to a secret Dragon race art. However, her perspective had now shifted.
Gern’s recent transformation was certainly not as simple as a secret art; Gern was undoubtedly concealing something else from her.
“Gern, what exactly is happening with your body?”
Seeing Lilia’s serious expression, Gern let out a helpless sigh.
The matter of the Kindling would eventually be revealed. She simply didn’t know how to broach the subject with Lilia.
She feared Lilia would learn of her true circumstances.
Though she wouldn’t admit it aloud, deep down, Gern genuinely dreaded Lilia leaving her once the truth came out.
This was a scenario she could never accept, no matter what.
“Li… Lilia, I…”
A tremor ran through Gern’s voice. What was usually a clear, melodious sound now emerged timid and pitiable.
Lilia’s hand instinctively tightened around Gern’s small one. She longed to understand the truth behind everything.
After much stammering, Gern finally lowered her head, covering it with her hands in distress.
“I… I’m sorry, Lilia. I can’t tell you.”
Gern had expected Lilia to be disappointed by her reticence. Instead, Lilia simply offered a small smile and playfully tapped Gern’s nose.
“If you don’t want to talk about it, then don’t. All I need to know is that you’re alright.”
A flicker of emotion stirred within Gern, and inexplicably, her nose began to prickle.
“Oh dear, why is my little Luoya crying?”
“I’m not crying.”
“Really? Your eyes are practically overflowing.”
“I’m really not crying!”
“Mmm… alright, alright…”
From behind a tree, a small head peeked out, observing the scene. Upon realizing Gern hadn’t revealed what she wanted to know, Aivia sighed helplessly.
Aivia knew Gern had come out on the academy’s orders. Her reluctance to discuss her situation likely stemmed from that mission.
Given this, she decided not to press further. Perhaps in the future, an opportunity would arise to uncover Gern’s little secret.
Suddenly, Gern, who had been chatting happily with Lilia, slapped her own forehead.
She remembered that Xiao Ying was still in the Royal City, a girl from a commoner family.
If left to her fate, she would undoubtedly suffer greatly.
However, her Serpentwoman form had been beaten to near death by Evelyn, making it impossible to disguise herself as Quade and infiltrate the Serpent race.
Lilia and Aivia had caused quite a commotion earlier. Many people had likely witnessed them fighting over Quade in the air.
The Serpent Royal City was probably under full lockdown now. It was entirely unrealistic to expect them to sneak in and rescue Xiao Ying.
The thought of all this gave Gern a throbbing headache.
“What’s wrong?”
Lilia noticed the change in Gern’s expression and asked, a hint of worry in her voice.
Gern opened her mouth, intending to tell Lilia everything, but then she recalled Lilia’s temperament and forcibly swallowed her words.
If Lilia were to discover her thoughts, there was no telling what extreme actions she might take.
When Lilia went wild, she was no less formidable than Evelyn. This was truly becoming troublesome…
Just as Gern was wrestling with her inner turmoil, a troop of figures suddenly approached them from a distance.
The two focused their gaze, realizing it was none other than the guards of the Serpent Royal City.
“This is bad. The people from the Serpent Royal City have found us.”
Lilia cursed inwardly. By their appearance, they were clearly searching for Gern. She quickly scooped up Gern, who was lying on the ground, and darted into the surrounding woods.
Simultaneously, a flicker of anger ignited within Lilia.
Her original intention had been to meet Gern through normal channels, without disrupting Gern’s mission.
Yet, that obnoxious Aivia had ruined everything, leading to Gern’s current predicament.
The thought alone infuriated Lilia. If not for that annoying person, they wouldn’t be in this situation right now.
