Chapter 76: The Sapphire’s Kiss

“Oh, no, no, I wouldn’t dare. I have a few more items here, which I’d like to present to this beautiful lady as my offering.”

As he spoke, Leon retrieved several round, black objects, a dark mirror, and a dagger shimmering with magical runes from his storage ring.

Upon seeing these items, Lilia finally nodded with satisfaction.

While she didn’t know the purpose of the other objects, the magical engravings adorning the dagger were undeniably the work of no ordinary runemaster.

Its price would certainly be steep, making it a rather suitable weapon for Little Luoya.

However, the items Leon had produced were worth far more than Lilia perceived.

Lilia might not have understood their true nature, but someone else present certainly did.

When Gern’s eyes landed on Leon’s offerings, they immediately lit up. She had seen these round objects in a memory stone before—they were weapons known as firearms.

If she recalled correctly, this particular gun possessed immense power, a single-shot weapon capable of blasting a crater with each shot. The accompanying items were equally formidable.

The dagger and scope could be mounted onto the firearm, and those four spherical objects packed a considerable punch as well—she believed they were called grenades.

As Lilia and Gern scrutinized the items before them, Leon cautiously inquired,

“Your Highness, may I take my leave now?”

His voice was hushed, clearly fearful of offending the princess.

Lilia first glanced back at Gern for her approval, and seeing her nod, simply waved a hand, signaling Leon to depart quickly. She didn’t even bother to spare him another look.

Granted Lilia’s permission, Leon felt as though he had received a great amnesty, scurrying away from the scene with his tail between his legs.

Before leaving, his gaze inadvertently swept across Gern’s chest, and he thought fiercely to himself,

‘Hmph, woman, one day I’ll make you my plaything!’

“Achoo~”

Gern rubbed her nose, certain that the accursed Leon was grumbling about her in his heart.

“Hm? Little Luoya, are you catching a cold?”

“Oh, no, it’s just my nose feels a bit uncomfortable.”

“Is that so?”

With the matter concluded, the surrounding spectators began to disperse.

Gern’s gaze swept around, but she didn’t spot the red-haired fox girl who had spoken up for her earlier.

She had a persistent feeling that she’d seen the woman somewhere before, but the crowd and the distance between them had prevented Gern from getting a clear look at her face.

‘Never mind,’ she decided. ‘If I can’t recall where I’ve seen her, she must not be an important character.’

“Hm? Come on, Little Luoya, what are you looking at?”

“Oh, ahem, nothing, nothing at all.”

Gern quickly matched Lilia’s pace, and the two soon arrived at a secluded corner.

The surroundings were pleasant, with few people around—a rather suitable spot for a date.

However, they weren’t there for a romantic rendezvous. Gern carefully retrieved the exquisite small red box from her storage ring.

Her movements were slow and deliberate, fearful that any abrupt motion might damage the treasure within.

Seeing the silver-haired girl’s demeanor, Lilia’s lips curved into a smile. It seemed her strategy was sound; the money-loving Little Luoya truly fell for such tactics.

The moment Gern fully lifted the lid, she froze. Nestled in the center of the small box was a crystal-clear, almost perfectly spherical blue sapphire.

It was as large as Gern’s palm, radiating an intense brilliance that momentarily made her eyes seem to redden.

The price of such an item was undoubtedly exorbitant; judging by its clarity alone, this sapphire was a gem among gems.

Its patterns resembled cascading waves, layered beautifully and captivating to behold.

Most importantly, the sapphire was enormous, comparable in size to her own hand.

Conservatively, this sapphire would fetch at least three hundred gold coins. Three hundred gold coins—Gern had never seen such a fortune in her entire life.

Then, recalling that this magnificent sapphire was a gift from Lilia, she felt for a fleeting moment as though she were dreaming.

“This… this gift is far too precious, I… I cannot accept it, Miss Lilia.”

“Sister Luoya…”

Lilia seized Gern’s shoulders, her aquamarine eyes locking directly onto Gern’s.

“Sister Luoya, look into my eyes. What do you see?”

“Ah? I… I…?”

Gern was compelled to meet Lilia’s gaze, her mind momentarily unable to process the question posed by the girl before her.

Lilia smiled subtly. Gern’s words weren’t entirely wrong; at this moment, Lilia’s eyes were indeed filled with her.

However, that wasn’t what Lilia intended to say. Seeing that Gern couldn’t guess her meaning, she decided not to prolong the suspense and spoke.

“The sapphire—it’s the same color as my eyes. I hope this gem can stand in for me, always by your side.”

*Boom!*

Like a bolt from the blue, Gern felt her heart struck by a heavy hammer.

‘What… what kind of joke is this?’

For the enemy who had killed her in her previous life to utter such words to her in this one—it felt profoundly ironic.

Gern’s body trembled; she wanted to reject this inexplicable gift from Lilia.

She loved money, yes, but she was also a person of principle. Accepting a reward for no merit left her deeply uneasy.

She recalled a saying from an ancient empire: ‘A gentleman loves wealth, but acquires it righteously.’ This aligned perfectly with her principles.

She knew which treasures she could take and which she could not; this had always been her bottom line.

“Miss Lilia, this—this gift is truly too significant. I cannot accept it.”

“Keep it. This is one of my compensations to you.”

“Miss Lilia, this truly won’t do…”

“It seems you still haven’t grasped my intentions.”

Lilia shook her head helplessly, once again tucking the sapphire Gern had tried to return back into her embrace.

Then, she pressed herself against Gern, and the unprepared Gern was suddenly tackled to the ground by the blonde-haired girl.

Immediately, Lilia’s unique fragrance enveloped her.

Gern tried to open her mouth to speak, but she was met instead by a pair of soft lips.

‘Mmph?!’

Gern’s eyes slowly widened.

Her pale golden eyes slowly widened, staring in disbelief at the considerably heavy blonde-haired girl before her.

This was the second time. No matter how unwilling Gern was, she couldn’t escape the genuine affection the girl held for her in this moment.

She attempted to break free from Lilia’s embrace, but her body, in this position, was utterly incapable of exerting any force.

Moreover, Lilia had already reached the third tier; even if Gern could muster her strength, she might not be able to shake Lilia off.

At this point, Gern had no choice but to endure.

Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. Being kissed by Lilia felt surprisingly good, yet her body instinctively recoiled in fear.

This was a lingering trauma from her past life; even with the girl before her showing such profound affection, a trace of fear still resided deep within Gern’s heart.

After this passionate kiss, Lilia’s entire demeanor seemed completely refreshed.

Gern, on the other hand, appeared utterly disoriented, as if her soul had been drawn out of her.

She sat there blankly, one hand covering her mouth, seemingly savoring the lingering sensation.

No matter how unwilling her heart was, Gern felt at this moment that she might have fallen in love with the feeling of being kissed by Lilia.

‘No, no, no, how could I possibly think such a thing? It must be the hypnotic potion playing tricks on me, it must be, haha!’

While Gern was lost in her wild conjectures, Lilia, seeing her state, walked over and gently tapped Gern’s little head.

“What are you thinking about? Come on, let’s go, we still need to buy you some clothes later.”

“Oh, oh, coming… Master.”

‘Ugh…’

Gern clapped a hand over her mouth. She had seemingly blurted out the word “Master” without thinking.

There was no resistance in her heart at all, as if she were simply supposed to address Lilia that way.

‘Oh no, oh no, am I going to completely become Lilia’s shape?’

‘I definitely don’t want that!’
