Join the ServerIn the endless darkness, countless clamorous sounds seemed to echo.
Gern could not discern which thoughts were his own, nor which belonged to the power of Chaos.
He felt his body dissolving, slowly merging into the inky black mist. He was it, and it was he.
This sensation persisted for an eternity, until Gern himself had forgotten his name and purpose. His consciousness plunged into a dead silence of chaos.
There was no thought, no awareness, only a true, primordial chaos.
After an unknown expanse of time, the cacophony in his ears ceased. A single beam of light pierced through the darkness.
Gern slowly lifted his head, as if responding to a pre-programmed command, and gazed towards the source of the light.
Three graceful figures stood there, Miss Lilia leading the way.
“‘Hm? Who is Lilia? And who am I?'”
Gern was consumed by confusion. He looked further back and spotted a somewhat familiar figure: a Silver Dragon.
Her skin was fair, twin horns adorned her forehead, and a cascade of white hair fell naturally, a sight that was utterly mesmerizing.
“‘Gern, do you remember me? My name is Karin, and I am also a part of you.'”
“‘Karin…'”
Gern’s head throbbed with increased intensity, as if something was trying to sprout within his mind. Yet, he couldn’t recall any specific details.
“‘Mr. Gern, do not be deceived by Chaos. Just reach out, and we will help you leave this place.'”
That was a Foxfolk girl standing behind them. Her name was… her name was…
“‘I can’t remember, I can’t remember at all…'”
“‘Ah! Ah!'”
Gern cried out in agony, the light in his eyes flickering erratically, like a candle flame swaying in the wind.
“‘What… what are you all? What… what am I? I… my name is Gern, isn’t it?'”
Gern muttered to himself, the light before him growing increasingly brilliant.
“‘Brother Gern, it’s Rex! Don’t you remember me?'”
“‘Gern, I’m Black…’
“‘Gern…'”
*Crack…
In an instant, the scene before him shattered, dispersing within his consciousness. Gern’s gaze once again turned vacant, as if he had truly merged with Chaos.
Yet, the very next moment, a figure abruptly burst into the scene.
The golden-haired figure’s heart tightened at the sight of the bleak, gloomy surroundings.
It seemed she had little time left; she had to awaken Gern as quickly as possible.
Indeed, the newcomer was Lilia. Just moments ago, she had seized the instant Gern’s mind briefly cleared to successfully establish a soul contract with him.
“‘Gern! Gern! Wake up!'”
Lilia shook Gern’s soul, only to find her efforts futile.
This approach was clearly not working.
Frowning, she scanned her surroundings, searching for a way to break free from this predicament.
To her disappointment, there was nothing around that could aid her.
There was no other choice. She would have to absorb the Chaos power from Gern’s body first.
Lilia steeled her resolve, embraced Gern’s soul, and pressed her forehead tightly against his.
*Whoosh~
The Chaos power, as if discovering a new continent, surged relentlessly into Lilia’s body.
She felt an immensely potent force, completely beyond her control, filling her entire being.
This was certainly not something she could handle in her current state.
“‘Ah!'”
Involuntarily, Lilia let out a series of pained cries. Her body gradually became engulfed by the black mist, and as time passed, a hint of infatuated laughter even touched the corners of her lips.
“‘Hehe… Gern, my little Gern, let’s never, ever be apart, alright?'”
“‘Just like this, staying like this forever is perfect, hehe, Gern, my Gern.'”
Lilia clung to Gern like a fiend, kissing and nibbling at him, resembling a little girl who had just received her most cherished gift.
Concurrently, her physical body in the outside world was rapidly tainted by the Chaos power. This formidable force was so potent that even the Holy Light Charm could not withstand it.
In mere moments, the Holy Light Charm lost all its radiance.
“‘What’s going on?'”
“‘Captain, things don’t seem to be going well.'”
The team members outside began to pace anxiously in circles.
Rex clenched his jaw, looking at the people around him.
“‘Does anyone have any extra holy water left? Quickly, pour it on Lilia!'”
Silence enveloped them all. Rex had intended to give his own holy water to Lilia, but then he suddenly remembered that he had been relying on his teammates’ holy water throughout their journey.
His holy water was currently on Lilia, and it had already been completely depleted.
Just moments ago, there had been more than half a bottle, but now it was entirely gone. At this rate, all their combined holy water would only buy Lilia a few more minutes.
“‘Damn it!'”
Rex cursed loudly, then pulled out several Holy Light healing scrolls and pressed them onto Lilia, hoping they might offer some assistance.

Within the sea of consciousness, Lilia’s expression alternated between frenzied madness and deep concern.
The shift between these two emotions was abrupt and inexplicable, giving Lilia an oddly comical appearance at that moment.
The encroachment of Chaos continued. Fortunately, with Lilia bearing some of the pressure, Gern’s sea of consciousness managed to recover a fraction of its clarity.
As he clearly saw the one who now endured torture alongside him, tears involuntarily streamed down his face.
“‘Lilia, why are you here?'”
“‘Because Gern is mine… mine… Ahaha, he can only ever be mine…’
‘Hiss, Lilia looks a bit terrifying like this.’
Gern felt a pang of worry, and then his consciousness was once again swallowed by Chaos.
“‘Are you just going to watch? Since you’re already here?'”
Just then, at the edge of Gern’s sea of consciousness, a beautiful, glacial Dragonwoman stood.
She was like a pure, sacred snow lotus; no matter how ferociously the surrounding Chaos power raged, it could not touch her in the slightest.
There was no one else around her; she seemed to have been speaking to the empty air. However, in the next moment, a slight ripple appeared in the surrounding space.
A peculiar red clown nose materialized before the woman.
“‘Oh dear, how could the Dragon God ruin my fun? The chosen one of Chaos is trying to resist the power of Chaos—this is a joke I could laugh at Chaos for an entire year!'”
Alicia’s face immediately darkened. She cast a cold gaze at the clown nose hovering before her.
“‘If you don’t help him soon, your fun will be over.'”
“‘Oh~ alright, alright, this is truly uninteresting. I wanted to watch a bit longer.'”
“‘I hope this little fellow can bring me more interesting events, such as… using Chaos to resist Chaos, ahaha~ that truly excites me.'”
The clown nose spoke to itself, then the surrounding space shifted once more, and the entire clown nose vanished.
Alicia slowly let out a breath as she gazed at the spot where the clown nose had disappeared. She recalled her own encounter with Kaled back then; it was this very entity that had purged the corruption from them.
‘Presumably, these two youngsters should be fine this time…’
