Join the ServerGern’s consciousness sank once more. He forgot his body, forgetting everything about this world.
He felt… that he was Chaos, and Chaos was him.
However, the next moment, the scene before him shattered. A line of blood-red text appeared in Gern’s vision.
“The world needs laughter…”
Immediately afterward, the crimson text rapidly expanded and twisted within the endless gloom, ultimately consuming Gern’s entire field of vision.
“Hahaha~”
“Look who it is! Our dear Chaos Godchild, performing a tragic love suicide with his little lover. What a classic drama! Boohoo~ I’m almost moved to tears~”
“Hahaha~ what fun.”
A cacophony, like a bustling market, vibrated, making Gern’s eardrums ache. Despite the annoyance the voice’s owner caused, Gern did not flare up.
He knew clearly that this very voice had saved him just moments before.
He scanned the surrounding void, seeking the entity’s presence, yet found nothing beyond Lilia.
“Who… are you?”
“Oh~ Asking my name? Name? Is a name important? I don’t even know my own name.”
Just then, a cold female voice echoed again. She slowly emerged from the darkness, stopping before Gern.
“He is the God of Trickery, Adebayo…”
“We… meet again.”
Seeing the Young Woman before him once more, Gern was still captivated by her beauty.
He felt that even Lilia paled in comparison to her.
“Oh, the God of Trickery has been exposed, the God of Trickery has lost face indeed.”
Gern’s mouth twitched. He couldn’t shake the feeling that this voice’s owner seemed utterly out of place with the surrounding atmosphere.
‘Could this one have smuggled themselves in from another plane?’
“Enough, Adebayo, don’t you have something else to finish?”
“Mmm~ I wanted to watch more fun.”
As his voice faded, a small red orb appeared. A sanguine glow instantly swept through the entire sea of consciousness.
Like a sharp sword, it pierced through the Chaos corruption shrouding Gern’s sea of consciousness.
The ashen stillness gradually receded, and the surroundings once again returned to a mirage-like scene.
Sky and ground merged seamlessly, reflecting dazzling light off each other, as if upon a perfectly calm, mirror-like sea.
As the Chaos corruption within Gern’s sea of consciousness dissipated, Lilia, who had been shrouded in black mist, slowly revealed her original appearance.
She collapsed weakly into Gern’s embrace, her gaze sweeping over their surroundings.
“Are we… safe?”
Gern remained silent. Their minds were now completely intertwined; no words were needed, as each knew the other’s thoughts.
“Ah~ What a warm and tender scene. It makes me want to find a partner and fall in love.”
Alicia’s mouth twitched. Though she had dealt with Adebayo for thousands of years, she still found his personality utterly detestable.
“There’s nothing left here. Hurry and leave.”
“Heretic God Ma: …”
Outside Gern’s body.
The moment the God of Trickery intervened, all the Chaos power within Gern receded.
A powerful, unknown force shattered the Chaos Crystal, and Gern’s cultivation realm plummeted, ultimately returning him to the fifth stage of the fourth rank.
However, the Chaos power remained within Gern’s body; Chaos had become an inseparable part of him. His blackened right arm could never revert to its original state.
Gern and Lilia slowly regained consciousness. As Gern observed the condition of his body, Lilia, too, discovered the abnormality.
When Gern saw his body’s condition, he wasn’t surprised.
His Primordial Chaos Art had been broken. To repair the parts transformed by Chaos, the only solution was to sever them entirely.
To have achieved this much was already a significant feat.
With the complete destruction of the Chaos Crystal, the surrounding Chaos power ceased to increase.
The subsequent handling was not something they needed to worry about.
The Academy and the Church would dispatch personnel to clear the residual Chaos power; for now, they simply needed to return the way they came.
The journey back was smooth. When the group reached the secret realm entrance again, they found that the surrounding Chaos creatures had vanished.
Whether they had left or gone into hiding remained unknown. For now, none of this concerned them.

On the Fox race border, Mina stood atop the towering city walls, gazing at the dense, tide-like swarm of Chaos creatures below.
Facing such a colossal enemy, she felt an overwhelming pressure.
“Quick, order the archers to prepare!”
“Where are the priests? Enchant the archers’ arrows with Holy Light!”
Mina commanded with all her might, but the number of priests on the Fox race’s side was severely limited.
Unlike other legions, they didn’t even have priest formations, at most a small squad of a dozen or so individuals.
Against such a massive invasion of Chaos creatures, the only military force capable of a fight was Mina’s elite Fox race troops.
The Holy Light was like a candle flame in the dark night; a gentle breeze seemed capable of extinguishing this small, precious flicker.
Mina knew she couldn’t waste precious Holy Light power. Only when the monsters had fully entered bow range did she give the order to fire.
*Whoosh, whoosh~*
The arrow rain, like a torrent of silver meteors, briefly tore through the dark, advancing tide.
Arrows enchanted with Holy Light struck the Chaos creatures, immediately erupting in blinding white light that scorched and purified their bodies, turning them into rising wisps of black smoke.
The front-line monsters fell like harvested wheat, but those behind them immediately filled the gaps. They knew no fear, no hesitation, only the primal instinct to devour everything.
Seeing this situation, cold sweat beaded on Mina’s forehead.
“Don’t stop! Keep firing!”
Her voice echoed along the city wall, tinged with a desperate resolve.
She could see the priests’ faces turning visibly pale; maintaining such a wide-range Holy Light enchantment was a colossal drain on their energy.
However, the sheer number of Chaos creatures was overwhelming.
They were like an endless black tide, fearlessly charging the city walls, enduring the ceaseless rain of Holy Light arrows.
Some stronger, more twisted Chaos creatures even began to ram the city gates with their bodies or attempt to scale the walls with sharp claws!
“Aim for those big ones! Prioritize them!”
Mina pointed at several particularly conspicuous Chaos behemoths, resembling moving hills.
Under concentrated fire, one such giant beast was pierced by dozens of Holy Light arrows amidst its roars, collapsing to the ground and dissolving into swirling black mist.
Yet, more behemoths and other monsters continued to advance.
“Your Highness! A section of the east wall has been breached!”
A messenger stumbled over to report.
Mina’s heart tightened. She quickly looked at the group beside her.
“Everyone, who here knows Holy Light magic?”
A young girl, not much older than a child, timidly raised her hand.
Mina nodded, addressing the others.
“First, let her enchant your weapons, then follow me!”
She drew the longsword from her waist. Under the girl’s control, a soft white glow adhered to the blade.
The others followed Mina’s example, enchanting their own weapons.
Led by Mina, the group arrived at the breached section of the city wall, where the scene was akin to hell.
A dozen Chaos creatures of various forms had already surged onto the wall, locked in a brutal struggle with the Fox race soldiers.
Holy Light was sparse here; the encroachment of Chaos made the air thick and viscous.
Soldiers constantly fell under the monsters’ claws and bites, their bodies quickly enveloped by black mist, showing signs of assimilation.
“We cannot let them break the line! For the Fox race! For our home!”
Mina cried out, her longsword blazing with the Fox race’s unique spirit fire as she charged into the fray.
Her swordsmanship was exquisite, and the combination of fox fire and Holy Light possessed unparalleled destructive power against Chaos creatures.
A flash of her sword, and a monster attempting to pounce on a wounded soldier was cut in two.
The addition of Mina and her group temporarily stabilized the defense, but when Mina observed the situation outside and their own dwindling forces, her heart sank.
She could see the priests were nearing exhaustion, the Holy Light arrow rain thinning, while the Chaos creatures below the city wall remained endless.
Despair and powerlessness—these were the emotions now gripping her.
She hadn’t expected the expansion of Chaos power to be so rapid. Even with prior preparations, many people within the city had not yet been evacuated.
For the sake of the Fox race people behind her, she knew they had to fight to the last, even if it meant sacrificing their entire army to buy precious time for the evacuation.
The Fox race legion shouted their resolve to fight to the death. Every Fox race warrior fiercely wielded their spears, daggers, and short swords. Even as many fell, they would soon rise again, charging into the attackers.
Despair and unease, along with fury and shouts, continuously reverberated across the entire battlefield.
More and more gaps appeared in the Fox race’s defensive line, and more and more warriors fell.
The evacuating Foxfolk, hearing the sounds of battle from the distant city walls, couldn’t help but look back.
The swaying Fox race banner flew high, seemingly proclaiming to all that this was still Fox race territory.
Tears welled up in many eyes, streaming down their faces.
“That’s Princess Mina’s command banner!”
“Your Highness, is it truly worth it for us…?”
“Your Highness! Come back! Where there’s life, there’s hope!”
Some knelt, others prayed to the heavens.
But the command banner ultimately fell. Mina retreated to a corner on the city wall, holding her sword with one hand, her body utterly spent.
Around her were Fox race soldiers assimilated by Chaos, and Chaos creatures transformed from unknown beings.
She knew she likely wouldn’t survive this time.
So, she slowly placed her precious sword against her neck.
While this wouldn’t change her ultimate fate of being corrupted into a monster by Chaos, at least she would die with dignity.
“Hmph~ Goodbye…”
“! Father!”
Just then, a strange sensation swept across the entire battlefield.
Immediately afterward, all the Chaos creatures, previously attacking with frenzy, froze in unison.
The expansion of the Chaos Land halted, even showing signs of receding.
The Chaos creatures that had already breached the city wall also began to retreat.
“What’s going on?”
A Fox race soldier cut down a suddenly powerless monster, looking around in bewilderment.
Mina was stunned, but she immediately realized something, her eyes blazing with unbelievable joy.
“It’s Gern! It must be them, they succeeded!”
A Chaos Land that had lost its Chaos Crystal was like a rootless duckweed. While they could continue to expand and devour, under the current circumstances, their risk of being eliminated increased exponentially.
“Counterattack! They’re retreating! All forces, counterattack! Reclaim the city walls!”
Mina seized this golden opportunity, shouting with all her remaining strength.
The Fox race defenders, who had been struggling and demoralized, now erupted in earth-shattering cheers and roars.
The tide of battle instantly reversed!
Soldiers surged forward, cutting down and pushing the weakened, disoriented Chaos creatures from the city walls.
The priests, too, revitalized, channeled their remaining Holy Light to purify the lingering Chaos aura.
Mina stood atop the city wall, watching the Chaos creatures scatter like a retreating tide, and let out a long sigh of relief.
She leaned on her sword, her body trembling slightly from exhaustion and lingering fear, but a look of profound relief spread across her face.
On the outskirts of the Chaos Land, Gern and his group finally saw its edge. Their tightly strung nerves could finally relax somewhat.
As Gern, Lilia, and the few surviving Olga squad members helped each other, stepping out of the Chaos Land, the dazzling sunlight made them instinctively squint.
The air was no longer filled with that suffocating stench of decay; instead, the fresh wind of the real world greeted them.
They had returned, from that dark abyss that devoured everything.
“Are we… truly out?”
Black’s voice was hoarse, almost disbelieving.
He looked around, seeing the familiar Fox race border landscape and the distant city walls, battered but still standing.
Rex let out a heavy breath, tainted with the smell of blood, his right hand tightly gripping the Meteorite Spear.
He counted their numbers. Including Gern and Lilia, only seven remained.
The exploration team that had set out with such conviction was now barely a tenth of its original strength.
Thinking of this, Rex silently turned, facing the dark expanse of Chaos, and bowed his head in quiet mourning for his fallen comrades.
The other members of the squad also emulated Rex, facing the Chaos Land for a few minutes of silent tribute.
Lilia’s face remained somewhat pale. After signing the soul contract with Gern earlier, she had taken on a portion of the Heretic God’s corruption.
This had severely drained her, leaving Lilia still somewhat dazed.
Perhaps due to the soul contract, Lilia instinctively moved closer to Gern, a growing sense of profound satisfaction blossoming deep within her.
And… an almost obsessive possessive desire for Gern.
Lilia’s thoughts made Gern stumble, almost falling.
He looked at Lilia with a hint of fear, his unease intensifying.
But the more Gern reacted this way, the stronger that particular emotion became within Lilia.
“Gern, I want to…”
“Brother Gern, we owe you a great debt this time…”
Rex’s untimely interruption broke the atmosphere between the two.
Gern cast a grateful glance at Rex, then waved his hand dismissively.
“It’s nothing, this was something we had to do. Chaos power isn’t an enemy of one or two countries, but an enemy of our entire continent.”
“Ha, well said, Brother Gern. When you come to the Olga Kingdom someday, I, your elder brother, will treat you to drinks.”
The two bantered, while Lilia stood by herself, sulking, her eyes fixed on Rex with a resentful glare.
The group, savoring the long-lost normal air, slowly meandered towards the Fox race territory as if taking a leisurely stroll.
They didn’t head straight into Fox race territory but instead detoured to an area not yet corrupted by Chaos. It was this strategic decision that allowed them to avoid the tide of Chaos creatures attacking the Fox race.
