Chapter 118: The Unexpected Descent

‘What the hell?!’

Gern’s mind was still reeling. She watched the ground beneath her feet recede rapidly, her pupils contracting sharply.

“Gern, I’m so hungry. Let me have a bite.”

“Damn it, big sister, I’m already in this state. How did you even find me?!”

The one holding Gern was none other than Aivia, who had been tracking Gern’s whereabouts all the way from the academy.

Gern was held tightly in Aivia’s embrace, the night wind howling in her ears. Below, the capital’s buildings rapidly shrank into blurry pinpricks of light.

She struggled, but found herself utterly unable to break free from Aivia’s grip. Compared to her own serpentwoman form, Aivia’s strength was simply too immense.

As the ground receded further and further, Gern felt a distinct sense of suffocation.

“Let go of me! I am Quade Turner, I…”

Gern, still unaware that her disguise had been seen through, attempted to threaten Aivia in Quade’s persona.

“Mm… the scent… it can’t be mistaken, Gern, there’s no need to pretend anymore.”

Aivia lowered her head, her crimson eyes gleaming with hungry light in the darkness.

She leaned close to Gern’s neck, taking a deep breath, a look of intoxicated rapture spreading across her face. It was as if she had just inhaled the most delicious scent in the entire world.

“Gern, let me have just one more sip. Without you, Aivia will simply wither away.”

Gern felt the girl’s breath ghosting against the back of her neck, and her entire body stiffened.

That was right. Aivia was a bloodkin, and her sensitivity to the scent of blood far surpassed that of ordinary people. No matter how clever a disguise, it couldn’t alter the essence of blood.

‘This was going to be a massive problem!’

“First, let me go! Can’t we just talk this out properly?”

Gern attempted to negotiate, but Aivia offered no such opportunity.

“Gern, I’m so hungry… I’m going to begin.”

Aivia seemed entirely lost in her own world, as her sharp canines pierced Gern’s smooth skin.

A slight pain registered first, but it quickly transformed into a faint itch, and then even a subtly intoxicating sensation of comfort.

As Gern’s blood was drawn, her eyes grew hazy, as if she were on the verge of becoming someone’s blood thrall.

Just then, a streak of flame shot upwards from below, striking directly at Aivia’s vital area.

Aivia’s movements abruptly halted, and she instinctively glanced downwards.

There, a figure wreathed in flames was rapidly soaring towards her.

“This is troublesome!”

Aivia cursed under her breath, no longer caring to drink Gern’s blood. She swiftly darted towards the other side.

“Blazefeather!”

With a sharp cry, countless small birds made of flame materialized, blocking Aivia’s path.

Feeling the threat of the flames ahead, Aivia instinctively stopped and turned to look behind her.

Lilia slowly floated up from below, her aquamarine eyes fixed intently on Aivia.

“Aivia, have you had enough of this ruckus?!”

Her voice carried the undeniable authority of a superior, and the aura of a Third-Rank Knight brazenly swept towards Aivia.

“Hmph, Gern is mine!”

“I found her location first! I knocked on the door!”

“I caught her first!”

The two continued to argue, unable to yield. At this moment, Gern weakly raised her hands and spoke, rather inappropriately.

“I have things to do. If you two are going to duke it out here, can I just go back first?”

“No! Are you going back to honeymoon with that little girl?!”

“No! You’re going to become my blood thrall!”

The two spoke in unison.

Gern instinctively drew back her neck, gazing at the two women’s hostile standoff with a troubled expression.

‘How did things turn out this way? Was this what they called a ‘Shura field’?’

While Gern was lost in her distress, the two resumed their fight. The powerful fluctuations of their auras even alarmed the residents below.

Evelyn, who had been strolling outside the Turner manor, also witnessed this scene and looked up at the sky.

“Hmm? Is Quade up there?”

A strange smile immediately played on Evelyn’s lips. Her figure instantly concealed itself as she continuously observed the movements in the sky above.

Boom~

Bang~

The clash of magic and knightly power continued. Aivia, already no match for Lilia, was further disadvantaged by holding Gern in her arms, and quickly began to lose ground.

Lilia seized the opportunity, snatching Gern away.

Feeling the familiar aura within the girl’s embrace, Gern managed a faint smile. Her body instinctively clung a little tighter to Lilia.

Lilia, sensing Gern’s movement, paused for a moment in surprise. It was in that fleeting instant of distraction that Aivia seized her chance, landing a punch directly on Lilia’s devastatingly beautiful face.

With a resounding *bang*, Lilia’s body plummeted rapidly. Under the immense impact, Gern, losing her grip, was flung from Lilia’s embrace and hurtled downwards.

Mid-air, Lilia quickly stabilized herself, glaring with gritted teeth at the crimson figure above.

“Damn her!”

Lilia was about to teach the presumptuous woman another lesson when she suddenly realized that Gern, who had been in her arms, was gone.

A flicker of panic crossed her face, and she hastily looked downwards.

A figure was rapidly plummeting towards the ground. From such a height, the fall would undoubtedly be severe.

Even with Gern’s Third-Rank physical strength, she would sustain serious injuries.

If this were to interfere with Gern’s future plans, it would be utterly disastrous.

Lilia shot a furious glare at Aivia, then dove downwards, only to see a black shadow flash past.

Along with it, Gern’s shadow also vanished.

Lilia’s beautiful eyes widened in astonishment, unable to comprehend who else, besides Aivia, would be seeking Gern at this moment.

Suddenly, she recalled the elegant woman she had seen in the crowd earlier, the one who had clashed with Gern. In an instant, she understood everything.

The relationship between that person and Gern was clearly out of the ordinary. A woman’s intuition told her that the woman was definitely interested in Gern.

Or rather, interested in Gern’s disguised identity. But none of that mattered. What truly mattered was that Gern had traveled all this way, only to gather so many girls around her.

This left a bitter taste in her mouth. Weren’t they friends?

Friends should face difficulties together. What did it mean for Gern to abandon her at the academy and then run off to flirt with others?

The aquamarine light in the girl’s eyes slowly faded, and her diving speed increased further. A terrifying, violent aura emanating from her sent shivers down one’s spine.

However, Evelyn’s speed was simply too great, and with her power as a Fifth-Rank Knight, Lilia couldn’t hope to catch her.

As Gern drifted further and further away, Lilia’s eyes unexpectedly grew a little moist.

“Gern! Why did you leave me?!”

She flew, pondering, growing angrier with each thought, and then pondering more out of anger. In any case, she couldn’t catch that person now, and with the tracking pendant, she wasn’t worried about losing Gern.

So she ceased her pursuit and turned to face Aivia, who was rushing towards them.

“Aivia! You wretched creature! I’m not done with you!”

Aivia: “Huh? Something feels… off…”
