Chapter 155 : No Choice But to Cooperate

“Quiet. I’m glitching.”

“Glitching?”

She was using words Stacy didn’t understand again. Stacy now had reason to believe something was seriously wrong with Milly’s head. She needed to heal her.

A gentle green light glowed from her fingertips. After crossing the forest and seeing the end of the world with nothing there, Milly was acting like she had lost her mind, saying strange things and making weird movements. Her brain must have snapped.

“Milly, stop. I know this result is hard to accept, but…”

“Looks like the traditional glitching method doesn’t work.”

Milly stopped squatting. Besides, if she successfully glitched through, she would probably fall into the void outside the world. Falling in was fine, but if she couldn’t get out, that would be trouble.

She stared at the crimson countdown in her vision, ticking away faster than ever. She had already guessed what would happen when it ended. Combined with the truth of this world, the meaning of the countdown was obvious.

She didn’t have much time left. If she didn’t clear the game before the countdown ended, death awaited her. Not the death of “the character Milly,” but the erasure of her existence as a player, lost in this world forever. Maybe after she died and her consciousness was erased, her shell would be assimilated by the system, becoming an NPC “Milly,” waiting for the next player.

The only question was that she hadn’t found any trace of assimilation yet. The theory was just a guess.

She glanced at Stacy beside her. This guy was special. Besides knowing the world was fake, maybe there was more to her identity. Wait, why was there a green light on Stacy’s finger?

“Milly, listen to me…”

“I have nothing to say to an NPC like you.”

Milly slapped Stacy’s hand away and pointed at the black curtain in front of her. “Stacy, try using your tentacles.”

Her strength wasn’t enough. But Stacy might be able to cause some damage. Maybe it would even attract the system’s attention.

Hearing this, Stacy frowned. Milly was acting strange, and now she was dragging her into it. But playing along wouldn’t hurt. After it was over, she would heal Milly’s head and bring her back to normal. For now, she would just humor her.

Several black tentacles burst from the ground, slamming into the black curtain with a whistling sound.

Cracks appeared on the curtain, but they quickly healed, repelling Stacy’s tentacles.

Milly looked at the curtain. The text from her appraisal skill refreshed.

[Warning: Illegal Intrusion Attempt!]
[Error Code: ERROR_VIRUS_DETECTED]

The new text stunned Milly. She had thought Stacy was special. As a game program, she had not only awakened her consciousness but also discovered that the world was fake.

Stacy’s attack was judged by the system as an abnormal program. Which meant that Stacy’s true identity was likely a virus. No wonder she was called the Fell God. It was a fitting title.

Thinking about Stacy’s cheat-like tentacles that killed everything they touched, it wasn’t surprising. She was a virus. For normal programs, she was a dimension-breaking strike.

The reason Stacy could insta-kill most beings was because her existence itself was a loophole in the rules.

And the speed of her erosion as a virus was too fast. Milly had only borrowed a semi-finished product from her, and she could already insta-kill everything except the Fallen God. As for Stacy, the virus itself, although Milly hadn’t seen her true form in action, her performance should be even more extreme.

The truth was revealed. Stacy was a virus, and not a simple one. She was a special virus that couldn’t be erased by the program.

In that case, the identity of the people behind the Pope became clear.

Admins. Or something similar. No wonder they had identified her as an outsider, a player, the moment they saw her in the fortress. Knowing she was a player and wanting to kill her, the creators behind the game were clearly not to be trifled with.

But she still didn’t know how she had transmigrated into this unfinished, broken game world. No main quest, no mission prompts, starting in the final boss room, and the game only had the human territory finished.

Calling it a “kusoge” (shitty game) was an insult to shitty games.

“Hey, Stacy, you know the whole world is fake, right?”

“Hmm?”

This time, it was Stacy’s turn to be stunned.

Silence spread in the night. For the first time, doubt appeared on Stacy’s face. She did know the world was fake. That was why she wanted to leave, desperate to escape this false world, even if it meant…

“Milly, I…”

“No need to say more.”

Milly knew what Stacy wanted to say. But whether her actions were pre-programmed settings or born of her awakened consciousness, Milly could understand Stacy’s mindset, but that didn’t mean she accepted it.

She glanced at Stacy beside her. Translucent text immediately appeared, the parts that were once question marks now fully revealed.

[Character Info: Lillian (Stacy)]
[Status: Possessed]

Besides the simple information, Milly noticed a health bar above Stacy’s head. The health information was clearly marked with three question marks.

“So there is a health bar system.”

But perhaps due to the vast difference in their power, Milly couldn’t see Stacy’s exact HP. And this was just her possessing Lillian’s body. If it were Stacy herself, the health bar might show [INFINITY].

After all, she was a virus, an existence outside the rules. Being special wasn’t surprising.

Although she realized the chasm between her and Stacy, Milly wasn’t without gain. As the truth of the world was revealed, Milly noticed that her appraisal skill, with her increased understanding of the world, began to evolve.

The question marks she had encountered before should now be fully visible.

For now, there were still problems. But it would take time to sort them all out. Milly didn’t plan to just sit here and wait until she had absorbed everything before moving.

What they lacked most now was time.

With the truth revealed, Stacy wasn’t wrong about one thing. Their interests were indeed aligned.

Stacy wanted to use her to leave this world, and Milly clearly couldn’t do it alone. Conversely, she needed to use Stacy’s power. How ironic.

“Although I really hate you,” Milly stepped forward and grabbed Stacy’s hand, “right now, we have no choice but to cooperate.”
