Sunlight streamed through the sheer curtains, casting dappled patterns on the floor. At the vanity, a girl was combing her long silver hair. A ray of sunlight caught the strands, giving them a faint golden halo.

Her face was pure, like the embodiment of holiness. Her violet eyes studied her reflection. Her slender fingers ran through her silken hair, tucking a stray strand behind her ear.

“Your Holiness, it is time for today’s prayer.”

A gentle reminder from outside. The silver-haired girl, the Saintess, stopped and looked around the room.

“May the Goddess bless you, Rona.”

She stood up, straightened her pure white robes, and left the room. A few nuns were already waiting for her.

The youngest, Lia, stared at the silver strands behind the Saintess’s ear. She felt that the Saintess looked even more beautiful today.

“You are more beautiful than the statue of the Goddess today.”

As she spoke, Lia glanced at the statue of the Goddess in the corridor. They said the Saintess was the Goddess’s representative on earth, but the living Saintess was far more beautiful than the statue.

“Lia!” Rona, the older nun, chided her. “I’m sorry, Your Holiness. Lia is new. She doesn’t know how to speak yet.”

Hearing Rona’s voice, the Saintess chuckled, a sound like silver bells that drew the attention of the pigeons on the windowsill.

“The Goddess’s glory is not diminished by comparison. And I am far from the Goddess.” The Saintess stepped forward and gently touched Lia’s trembling shoulder. “And beauty means nothing. What is more important is the purity of the heart and the firmness of faith.”

Lia nodded, though she didn’t fully understand. Her eyes were filled with even more admiration for the Saintess.

When would she become like her, a symbol of holiness?

Another nun approached, a hint of worry on her face.

“Your Holiness, the knights from the border have brought new news.”

Hearing this, the Saintess stopped and looked at her. “What is the situation?”

“It’s not good. The demon attacks are becoming more frequent, and their numbers are increasing. If we don’t send reinforcements, the border might not hold.”

The light atmosphere vanished, replaced by a heavy silence.

The Saintess went to the window, looking in the direction of the border. Her violet eyes were filled with worry. “The benevolent Goddess will protect her followers. We will overcome this.”

In the somber atmosphere, the nuns and the Saintess walked to the cathedral to begin the morning prayer. The cathedral was majestic and solemn, the high ceiling painted with the image of the Goddess of Light, her kind face seemingly watching over the world. The Saintess knelt before the statue, her hands clasped, her eyes closed in fervent prayer.

Behind her, the nuns did the same, praying to their faith, the Goddess of Light.

“O Goddess of Light, your grace is like the warm sun, illuminating our hearts. Now, your followers are suffering from the demon attacks on the border. They are enduring unimaginable harm. We implore your protection, grant them the strength to overcome this disaster.”

“May your light shine on them forever.”

After the prayer, the Saintess stood up to meet with the knight order. Reinforcements had to be sent to the border. The increasing frequency and number of demon attacks were unusual. It meant that there was a commander behind them.

There was only one who could unite the demons and command them: the legendary Demon King, who was said to be reviving. And if the Demon King revived, humanity would face a catastrophe.

In the face of such a disaster, the Goddess would send a hero to save the world.

Since the demon attacks began, she had been praying to the Goddess, waiting for the hero. But every attempt to summon a hero had failed. Perhaps the Demon King had not yet revived, so the hero who could defeat him had not appeared.

Today, she would try again.

Just then, a black-haired girl in silver armor approached.

“Your Holiness, the bishop has just received a divine oracle from the Goddess.”

“An oracle?”

The Saintess grabbed the girl’s hand. “Candice, did you say an oracle? What news did the Goddess bring?”

Her voice was urgent, her eyes filled with hope. If it was a message from the Goddess, did it mean that the hero was coming today?

“According to the oracle, a hero who can defeat the Demon King will descend today.”

The news brought a wave of excitement to everyone present. The Saintess knelt before the statue again, praying fervently.

“Thank you for your benevolence, Goddess. The hero will lead us to victory over the evil Demon King.”

She stood up and followed Candice to the sanctuary. They would summon the hero there.

The sanctuary was already filled with onlookers. The news of the hero’s arrival had spread throughout the city. The faithful stood or knelt, their faces filled with piety and hope, waiting for the legendary hero to descend.

The summoning circle was ready. The Saintess stood in the center and began to chant an ancient spell.

Her voice was clear and melodious, echoing through the sanctuary. As she chanted, the magic circle began to glow, forming a brilliant pillar of light that shot up to the sky. The crowd held their breath, staring at the circle, waiting for the hero to appear.

But when the light faded and the chanting ended, the hero had not appeared. It was as if the oracle had been a lie.

The Saintess stared at the empty circle. The hero had not appeared. Was it because she was not pious enough? Or did it require a sacrifice?

Just then, she heard a noise from above.

The next moment, a figure fell from the sky, crashing through the ceiling of the sanctuary and landing in front of her.

The crowd, which had been murmuring in disappointment, fell silent, staring at the scene. When the dust settled, they saw a white-haired girl on the floor.

“Could this be the legendary hero?”

“No way. The hero can’t be like this.”

The sanctuary was filled with whispers again. The Saintess, though stunned, stepped forward and addressed the crowd.

“The Goddess has bestowed upon us the hero who can defeat the Demon King.”

She knelt down to wake the unconscious girl. Just then, the girl’s eyes fluttered open. They were a clear, bright blue. Seeing the silver-haired Saintess before her, the white-haired girl cried out in surprise.

“Stacy?”
