Chapter 68: The Ancestral Remedy

“Mhm, that’s right.” Eileen nodded. “I’ve been quite free lately, so I can look after you.”

“It’s a rare holiday; you don’t have to waste it on me…”

“How can you call it a waste? Besides, it won’t take much time. The process is just a bit lengthy, perhaps only an hour or so each day.”

Eileen took some medicinal herbs from her bag. “Oh, by the way, where’s the bathroom in your room?”

Eileen glanced around, her eyes landing on a door in the corner. “Ah… it’s this one, right?”

But at that moment, Setia, who had been too weak to do anything but lie in bed, suddenly found a burst of strength. She shot up from the bed, grabbing Eileen’s hand.

“No! No! That’s not the bathroom!”

“Oh… right.” Eileen was startled by Setia’s sudden outburst.

“Then where is the bathroom?” Eileen asked.

“…My room! It doesn’t have a bathroom!” Setia declared.

‘That can’t be right,’ Eileen thought.

Even the ordinary guard rooms had their own bathrooms. Furthermore, Setia was Faltis’s former maid; it was inconceivable that she wouldn’t have a bathroom.

However, Eileen was no longer the naive girl she once was. Pressing the matter now wouldn’t be appropriate. Setia likely had something in her bathroom she hadn’t had time to tidy, something she didn’t want others to see.

“Is that so… Then I’ll help you build one another day?” Eileen offered.

“Mhm, yes, next time then.”

“In that case, you can just come to my room for now,” Eileen said.

Setia had initially intended to refuse. After all, it was just a minor cold; a good sleep under the covers would mostly cure it. But the thought of going to Eileen’s room, and even using Eileen’s bathroom, made Setia hum with anticipation.

“Yes, okay! Let’s go then!” Setia exclaimed.

Yet, Eileen remained rooted to the spot, unmoving.

‘No way! Could Eileen have changed her mind?’

Just as Setia began to feel a pang of disappointment, accepting the situation, Eileen spoke.

“How about this? Bring a few days’ worth of clothes you’ll need, and recover in my room. I’m not comfortable leaving you alone like this,” Eileen suggested.

Setia’s heart pounded with excitement, but she still managed to maintain a polite facade. “Wouldn’t that be too much trouble? How could I impose on you?”

“It’s no trouble at all.”

While Setia also lived in the Golden Dragon Temple, her quarters were quite a distance from Eileen’s and Faltis’s. If she stayed in her own room, Eileen would have to travel back and forth daily to visit her, prepare her food, and deliver it. That would be far more inconvenient.

Eileen, it seemed, couldn’t bear to be idle. If she didn’t have something to do, she would likely grow bored.

“Alright then! Since you insist, Eileen!” Setia agreed, feigning reluctance, though inwardly, she was overjoyed.

“These clothes should be enough, right?” Eileen packed a few outfits according to Setia’s instructions.

“Mhm, if not, we can always come back for more.”

“True.” The distance was only relative, especially when considering walking.

“Shall we…?” Setia suddenly felt her body lift into the air. When she opened her eyes, she saw Eileen’s beautiful face, so close to her own.

And the soft, full sensation against her arms.

“Eileen?” This was a princess carry! It was definitely a princess carry!

“This is special care for a patient.” A defensive barrier materialized before Eileen, and then small, adorable silver dragon wings unfurled from her back.

Blocked by the barrier from the cold wind of their flight, the two swiftly arrived at Eileen’s room, thanks to the wings.

Eileen gently placed Setia on her bed and tucked her in with the covers.

“Wait for me for a moment, okay?” Eileen went into her bathroom, poured hot water into the tub, and added various medicinal herbs and powders…?

‘Is… is that right?’

The water in the bathtub had turned a deep green hue.

Eileen consulted the detailed instructions, which confirmed that the deep green color was normal. It looked a bit strange, but the efficacy was guaranteed.

“Setia.” Eileen called Setia over.

Setia walked into the bathroom and froze. She looked at Eileen, then at the bathtub.

Setia’s expression mirrored Eileen’s earlier one as she gazed at the unknown substance in the tub. “Ei… Eileen? What is that?”

“It’s an ancestral secret recipe, used to treat colds,” Eileen explained.

“I think… this might not be necessary?” Setia’s face was etched with resistance. It was just a common cold; there was no need for something so terrifying.

“Don’t worry, our ancestors’ remedies are always effective. It just doesn’t look very appealing,” Eileen reassured her.

“Ahahaha…” ‘You call this ‘not very appealing’?’

Anyone unaware would surely mistake it for some kind of poison!

“I just tested it for you; there are no major issues. You can rest assured, Setia,” Eileen said.

“Alright then.” Setia now had no choice but to brace herself and try it, all for the sake of staying in Eileen’s room!

Setia tentatively dipped her hand in, feeling the warmth. After no strange reactions occurred, she felt relieved enough to…

“Eileen, you’re not planning to just watch me the whole time, are you?” Setia asked.

If the water had been crystal clear, Setia might have considered soaking in it with her clothes on. But the problem was that this green, steaming concoction, with bubbles popping on its surface, would surely ruin any clothes she wore into it.

“Oh, right!” Eileen turned her back. “If you feel any discomfort, remember to tell me.”

“Didn’t you say you tested it yourself?!” Eileen had become so mischievous. Who was corrupting her?

“Hehehe… This is something our ancestors recorded, and it hasn’t been removed after all this time, so there’s naturally nothing wrong with it,” Eileen said.

Setia took a deep breath, reassuring herself that there would absolutely be no problems.

Moreover, to continue staying in Eileen’s room, this step was essential!

She extended her foot, gently touching the water’s surface, feeling no discomfort. Then, closing her eyes, she stepped in.

Next came the other foot, and then her entire body, slowly submerging into the bathtub.
