Chapter 93: The Maid’s Exception

‘A mistake? This is good news!’, Peroy thought, a hint of surprise in her eyes.

Eileen observed Peroy, a hint of fear in her expression.

“Oh, alright. Should Lady Peroy do anything too outrageous, I will certainly inform Lady Aolian,” Eileen declared.

This time, it was Peroy’s turn to feel deflated. “Relax,” she said. “I’m not some kind of pervert; I won’t do anything strange to you.”

However, Eileen’s expression showed complete disbelief. “Is that so?” she replied. “Then I’ll just have to be extra vigilant. If Lady Peroy does anything excessive to me, I will definitely tell Lady Aolian.”

Peroy’s face visibly clouded with displeasure.

“Allow me to try my hand,” Eileen said.

Aolian had been waiting for these very words. She picked up her fork and tasted Eileen’s food.

Her eyes sparkled, just as Eileen’s did when she enjoyed ice cream.

Peroy also took a bite. The flavor was indeed exquisite, yet she still couldn’t fathom why they wore such blissful expressions.

“You truly are amazing! Come, be my master!” Aolian exclaimed.

“Please, Lady Aolian, don’t say that,” Eileen replied, a flush of embarrassment rising on her cheeks. Given her presence in this place, her long stay, and the fact that she was Peroy’s teacher, how could Eileen possibly be qualified to be Aolian’s master?

“Don’t mind our age difference. You call me what you like, and I’ll call you what I like,” Aolian said, understanding Eileen’s reservations.

“That’s not the issue at all, Lady Aolian! I can teach you whatever you wish, but please, don’t address me that way. I truly don’t deserve it,” Eileen quickly explained. “Besides, I won’t be staying on Twilight Island for too long. Once Lady Faltis emerges, I’ll be returning with her.”

“Faltis?” The other woman seemed to know Faltis as well. Perhaps it would be stranger if she didn’t.

“When did she acquire such an intimate attendant? Didn’t she always come alone before?” Aolian asked, puzzled.

“Ah… it’s not quite like that, Lady Aolian. Lady Faltis brought me here five years ago,” Eileen clarified. “In fact, we stayed in this very inn, and the rooms are the same as they were back then.”

She had simply remained in her room for most of that time, rarely venturing out, which was likely why Aolian was unaware.

“Is that so?” Aolian chuckled awkwardly.

Peroy gnawed on her fork. Eileen and Aolian seemed to share a far better relationship than she did with her own student. It felt as though she was the unexpected third party who had suddenly joined them. What was happening?

Eileen explained that she had nothing planned for the next three days, so Aolian had invited her to teach her how to cook.

Of course, Eileen had another reason for doing this: she hoped it would deter Peroy from bothering her so frequently.

After exchanging a few more words with Aolian, Eileen left the central area, with Peroy following close behind.

Before their departure, Aolian gave Peroy two stern warnings: she was absolutely not to trouble or make things difficult for Eileen.

This left Peroy utterly dejected. ‘Who exactly is your student here?’, she wondered.

“Lady Peroy, how long do you intend to follow me? It’s already quite late,” Eileen said. “Have you eaten dinner yet?”

“Since I’m already here, won’t you let me come in and sit for a while?” Peroy asked. “Besides, my teacher just said what she did. I definitely won’t do anything to you, or I’ll be the one getting lectured.”

Eileen was indeed less worried about Peroy doing anything to her now, but she still replied, “Still, no.”

“Why not?”

“Lady Faltis dislikes your scent. I must refuse,” Eileen stated.

“Damn it…” Peroy was truly speechless. Eileen left absolutely no room for negotiation. “Fine then. I hope you enjoy your ‘three days of peace.’ I’ll come find you again in three days.”

Eileen watched Peroy’s retreating back, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. Peroy was actually letting it go just like that?

If so, Eileen would have plenty of free time, which was certainly a good thing.

Three nights later, Eileen lay sleepless in bed.

Donning her pajamas, she stepped out onto the balcony.

The wind tonight seemed a little cold.

Perhaps it was merely a trick of her mind. After all, aside from that immense magical incident, Eileen, as a Silver Dragon, had never felt truly cold before.

Eileen gazed at the Tree of Origin in the distance. Even in the darkness of night, its glow was visible.

‘The meeting… it must have begun.’ Tomorrow, at sunrise, the meeting would officially commence.

“Yes, and so, you are now to become my maid, aren’t you?” A crimson silhouette stood out vividly in the darkness.

“Lady Peroy, you truly are ubiquitous, aren’t you?” Eileen sighed, a hint of exasperation in her voice. Still, the fact that Peroy hadn’t actively sought her out these past three days had already surprised her, so her sudden appearance now was somewhat acceptable.

“This time, you should have no reason to refuse, correct?” Peroy said.

“I heard Lady Faltis say that the meeting truly begins when the first ray of sunlight touches the Tree of Origin. Clearly, that hasn’t happened yet,” Eileen replied.

Peroy wanted to curse.

“However, Lady Peroy, I was rather surprised that you didn’t come looking for me these past few days. Therefore, making a small exception for you wouldn’t be out of the question.” Eileen’s words abruptly choked back the curses Peroy had been about to utter.

“Please wait just a moment; I’ll go change my clothes now,” Eileen said with utmost politeness.

Peroy stepped onto the balcony, intending to follow Eileen inside, but she was met with a cold, closed door.

“Lady Peroy, please don’t come in,” Eileen called out. “You said it yourself, this is a secret. If Lady Peroy were to enter and Lady Faltis discovered it, things would become very troublesome. You wouldn’t want Lady Faltis chasing you with questions, would you?”

Peroy had never been so annoyed, but for now, she could only suppress her frustration. ‘Eileen, just you wait. I’ll show you how I’ll ‘play’ with you once you become my maid!’, she fumed internally.

Eileen didn’t deliberately waste time. She quickly changed into a classic feminine dress and emerged.

Holding the hem of her skirt with both hands, Eileen curtsied slightly. “Lady Peroy, I am Eileen, the Silver Dragon maid.”
