Chapter 64: The Curious Case of Rosha Galmia

Eileen quickly shook her head. If such a person truly existed, she wouldn’t have joined the Dragon Slaying Squad in the first place.

However… Eileen pondered, ‘Wait, there actually might be one?’

If considering those she had a good relationship with, before Eileen was targeted, her rapport with Izawa’s Dragon Slaying Squad had been quite amicable.

Coincidentally, one member had left Izawa’s Dragon Slaying Squad and was not among the previous討伐 personnel.

“Who?”

“Rosha Galmia.”

“A woman?”

“Yes, why do you ask?”

“Tell me more,” Faltis said, seemingly very interested in this person named Rosha.

“She is an elf with an innate affinity for nature. She served as both our team’s mage and priest, excelling remarkably in both roles. This should have made her the most sought-after individual, but her somewhat eccentric personality meant that few teams were willing to approach her,” Eileen explained.

Faltis raised an eyebrow slightly. “Is it true that she didn’t get along well with other team members, apart from you?”

“Huh? Lady Faltis, how did you know that?” Eileen asked. “Could it be that you knew about our Dragon Slaying Squad before?”

Faltis looked at Eileen as if she were an idiot.

‘Forget it. If she knew, she wouldn’t be Eileen.’

“What is her strength?”

“Roughly… five years ago, she might have been in the top hundred?” Eileen mused. “I’m not sure about now, but I believe her strength would have advanced further. Top fifty should be no problem, perhaps even top ten, allowing her to enter the Imperial Alliance’s inner circle.”

“…?” Eileen noticed that the way Faltis was looking at her seemed a bit off. “What’s wrong, Lady Faltis?”

“You seem to know this ‘Rosha’ quite well.”

“Not really? After all… they had been a team for a long time. Even though someone new joined and they were polite on the surface, they wouldn’t actually talk much with me.” It was only because Eileen was more naive back then that she hadn’t given it much thought.

“But only that person named Rosha was willing to exchange a few more words with you, right?” Faltis stated.

“It seems… that’s right?”

“Why?” Faltis pressed.

“I’m not entirely sure. Besides, while ‘talking more’ is relative, for others it might be one sentence every ten days, but for me, it was perhaps one sentence a day? Overall, it was still quite infrequent,” Eileen explained.

A tenfold difference, and she still considered that infrequent?

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Faltis was somewhat speechless. Continuing this topic, Faltis felt like she would die of exasperation.

“So, do you think this person could be Rosha?”

Eileen thought for a moment, then shook her head. “I don’t think it would be her.”

“Why not?” Faltis inquired.

“The magic on the arrow doesn’t feel like hers.”

Another brief silence.

“Five years have passed, and you still remember her magic aura so clearly?”

“Yes, because her magic is quite special, and when we were in action, she mostly used amplification magic on me.” Eileen seemed to completely miss the subtle tone in Faltis’s voice, earnestly explaining.

“Mostly used amplification magic on you, huh…”

‘Lantern under the lamp: refers to Faltis’s face slowly darkening under Eileen’s two bright ‘lamps.”

“Yes, perhaps our magic affinity is quite high?” And our Eileen continued to ‘elaborate’ for Faltis.

Little did she know, her adorable little behind was about to endure another dragon’s impact.

Faltis truly couldn’t listen anymore. “So, that’s why you have such a deep impression of her magic?”

“Yes.” Eileen nodded.

“Then, five years have passed, is your magic still like you?” Faltis countered. “You don’t know why she left Izawa’s squad, nor do you know what she experienced during these five years, do you?”

“Moreover! The most crucial point is that you don’t know if she was one of the participants, right? If it truly was her, then she is very likely an insider or a participant.”

“Mm…” Eileen didn’t refute. She had just thought of that herself.

“Lady Faltis is right. Judging solely by magic is a bit too hasty. Furthermore, based on all the information we have now, it truly is most likely her,” Eileen conceded.

Eileen’s quick acceptance indicated that she was beginning to develop her own way of thinking. In the past, she would surely have first spoken highly of her former teammate.

“However, there’s one more thing I’m most curious about.”

“What?” Eileen had to lower her head to barely see half of Faltis’s face.

But from Faltis’s perspective, someone was ‘charging with the ball,’ obscuring her vision.

Faltis reached out, cupping Eileen’s ample chest, making Eileen straighten her back.

“Aren’t you going to suspect that I was the one who betrayed you?” Faltis asked.

“In that instant, I did suspect it, but would Lady Faltis be so petty?”

“Before this incident with the Empire, didn’t you also believe the Empire wouldn’t do such a thing?” Faltis pointed out.

“That’s true. So, Lady Faltis, are you suggesting I should suspect you?”

“You truly are a conversational genius…”

“What’s more, Lady Faltis, I can’t imagine any benefit for you in doing this. Most dragons still harbor ill will towards humans. If it were to spread that the Empire’s strongest dragon slayer had become your subordinate, what kind of situation would you face? Especially with the dragon race’s grandest celebration about to take place.”

Eileen gently pressed Faltis’s shoulders. “Don’t you agree, Lady Faltis?”

“I truly underestimated you,” Faltis murmured, eyes narrowed in enjoyment.

“Didn’t Lady Faltis ask me to do this? To have my own capacity for thought, rather than merely obeying Lady Faltis’s commands,” Eileen replied.

“Excellent.” Faltis rose from Eileen’s lap. “A good little maid deserves a reward.”

“That won’t be necessary, Lady Faltis—”

*Snap!* A crisp sound echoed once more.

“Lady Faltis?!”

“What? Are you dissatisfied with the reward I’ve given?”

‘How could Eileen possibly answer that?!’

[Magic affinity, huh?]

[Amplification magic, huh?]
