Join the ServerAs night fell, the brilliant moonlight streamed through the corridor window, casting its glow upon a pure white figure and stretching her shadow long.
Eileen, clad in white pajamas, sported a pair of small, adorable wings on her back, while her silver tail gently twitched upwards.
Her footsteps echoed through the corridor.
With each step Eileen took, water droplets from her hair fell softly to the floor.
A faint jasmine scent clung to her, clearly indicating she had just emerged from the bath.
She arrived at Faltis’s door, letting out a soft ‘Hush’.
The water droplets, which had moments ago been dripping, instantly transformed into steam and drifted into the air.
Eileen gently tapped on the door.
“?” Faltis opened the door, a touch of surprise in her voice. “Eileen? What is it? Do you miss me?”
Earlier that day, Faltis had told Eileen to rest well and not bother coming over in the evening.
“As a servant, one cannot shirk their duties due to a few minor mistakes, can they?” Eileen offered a slight smile, walking directly past Faltis.
“Hmph, quite the commendable awareness,” Faltis praised.
“However, I still have some matters to attend to…” Before Faltis could even finish her sentence,
Eileen had already presented her with a cup of hot tea and some pastries.
“There’s no need for you to concern yourself with my presence, Lady Faltis.” Eileen draped a light veil over Faltis’s shoulders.
Faltis gazed at the steaming tea and took a delicate sip. The faint aroma of tea lingered in her mouth, yet she declared, “I don’t drink hot beverages.”
“Lady Faltis, it’s not advisable to drink cold things at night,” Eileen reminded her, though her hands continued their work without pause.
While a master only needed to state their demands, a maid had much to consider—analyzing whether the master’s words were genuine, deciding whether to offer suggestions, and contemplating the potential repercussions of doing so.
Eileen placed her hand on the teacup, and a thin layer of frost instantly coated the previously steaming surface. “It’s ready for you, Lady Faltis.”
Faltis looked at the now-chilled drink and spoke, “I believe you’re right; drinking cold things at night isn’t ideal. I’ll stick with hot tea instead.”
‘…’ This was a blatant attempt to put Eileen in a difficult spot.
Faltis knew better than anyone that Eileen detested high temperatures, let alone controlling the heat precisely.
Nevertheless, Eileen simply nodded. “Very well, I understand.”
From seemingly nowhere, Eileen produced a steaming teapot and cup, refilling Faltis’s drink.
“?” Faltis looked at Eileen with a puzzled expression.
Faltis found Eileen’s current demeanor both unfamiliar and strangely familiar.
This Eileen reminded her of the Eileen before she had regained her memories.
Faltis then reached out, lifted Eileen’s nightgown, and spotted a cute, white garment underneath.
“…” Eileen pressed her hand against her skirt. “Lady Faltis, how could these things possibly be hidden under my skirt?!”
“Is that so? I thought you were pouring them out from under your skirt…”
“Lady Faltis! What on earth are you saying?!”
Good, the act lasted but a second. It seemed she was still the same Eileen after all; Faltis just couldn’t fathom why she had suddenly acted this way.
“I thought I had hit you too hard today and knocked some sense out of you,” Faltis remarked.
“Does Lady Faltis not like how I was before?” Eileen asked.
“Indeed, your silly self is much cuter,” Faltis chuckled.
The answer had been obvious from the start. If Faltis had preferred the old Eileen, she wouldn’t have gone to such lengths.
“What is it? Did you suddenly want to try acting like your old self?” Faltis inquired.
Eileen composed herself. “Isn’t this just to get a head start on adapting to Celestial Fantasy Island a month from now?”
“I thought something serious had happened to make your personality change so drastically.”
That medical report in the infirmary hadn’t actually been Faltis’s doing, as Faltis had assumed Eileen already knew about it.
After all, Eileen had regained her memories some time ago, and she was in charge of the infirmary. Faltis had no idea that Eileen hadn’t bothered to look into it after recovering her memories, only discovering it due to today’s accident.
Eileen’s sudden lack of rebelliousness left Faltis feeling somewhat unaccustomed, but she admitted that an occasional change was rather nice.
“Sit down and eat together?” Faltis offered.
“…Mm.” Eileen hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement.
Eileen sat opposite Faltis, preparing to pour herself a cup of tea, when Faltis suddenly interjected, “As a Silver Dragon, your body temperature is lower than ordinary people’s, so a little cold drink at night shouldn’t matter, right?”
“Mm, of course it doesn’t… matter is impossible.” Eileen nearly fell for it again.
However, Faltis seemed to have no intention of letting Eileen off the hook. “It’s fine. Even if you’re not good at controlling flames, I can heat it for you.”
“No, no, no, how could I possibly let my master do such a thing for a servant?” Eileen quickly interjected.
“When did you start being so considerate of me?” Faltis held the cold drink she had just sipped. “Besides, it would be such a waste to just pour it away.”
‘When did you become so frugal?! I can’t even begin to argue with you!’ Eileen grumbled inwardly.
Yet, a smile remained plastered on her face. “That’s true…”
Eileen reached out and took the tea from Faltis’s hand. “No need to warm it; this is perfectly fine.”
However, once Eileen took the cup, Faltis kept her eyes fixed on Eileen and the tea.
The implication was clear: she wanted to watch Eileen drink it.
“Lady Faltis, I think…”
Faltis clinked her cup against Eileen’s, then took a sip herself.
‘…’ Faltis gave Eileen no chance to explain.
It was as good as holding a knife to her throat: would she drink or not?
“We’ve already kissed anyway…” Eileen mumbled softly, her pretty face flushing slightly, before downing the drink in one gulp.
“See, Lady Faltis, it’s all gone. No waste at all.”
“Lady Faltis?” Eileen noticed Faltis’s expression seemed a little off.
“It’s nothing…”
Eileen had indeed remembered that incident. Faltis had thought Eileen had forgotten all about it after waking up.
“Lady Faltis, did you perhaps think I wouldn’t dare drink it? Or is Lady Faltis shy because of an indirect kiss?”
