Chapter 82: A Familiar Offender

Eileen had never before heard Faltis voice such a desire. She was certain Faltis would once again break the record, find a worthy successor, and then retire peacefully to Sky Fantasy Island.

“How so? You must consider this carefully. If I remain the Golden Dragon Queen, you will never have the chance to revert to your former self. You will be bound to stay by my side forever. Even then, do you still wish for me to remain the Golden Dragon Queen?” Faltis inquired.

“Who would ever want to be your maid forever!” Eileen retorted, though her voice softened. “It’s just… it’s just that no one in the Golden Dragon Territory could possibly defeat you, Lady Faltis, could they? Your worries seem rather excessive!”

‘There is someone,’ Faltis thought, ‘and that person is standing right in front of me.’ However, Faltis merely chuckled.

“What’s this? You’re reluctant to part with me now? A former Dragon Slayer caring for a dragon—if word of that got out, you’d be a laughingstock.”

“That’s true,” Faltis conceded. “In the Golden Dragon Territory, not only is there no one to challenge me, but now, truly, there isn’t a single other Dragon King-level individual besides you. And besides, if I were to have challengers, Eileen, you would help me stop them, wouldn’t you?” Faltis pressed.

“Of course! After all, it’s an agreed-upon matter. I lost, and becoming Lady Faltis’s maid is still binding. So, if anyone dares to challenge Lady Faltis, I will certainly stop them. In fact, if they can’t even get past me, they certainly won’t be able to challenge Lady Faltis.” Eileen declared.

Every word Eileen spoke seemed to dismiss her concern for Faltis, yet every word revolved around Faltis.

Only Eileen herself would believe that her words were solely due to her fulfilling her maid’s duties after losing their wager.

However, Faltis did not expose Eileen. Such an Eileen was a charm Faltis had to savor; if she spoke up this time, there might not be such an Eileen to observe next time.

Suddenly, Faltis’s brow furrowed. She looked up at the sky, where a red figure was soaring towards them.

“You two are still staying in this place, just like last time.” Peroy flapped the fiery red wings on her back.

“This is a city where flying is forbidden, have you forgotten, Peroy Labish?”

“Hmm, I think there *was* such a rule?” Peroy mused, retracting her wings.

Indeed, it seemed peculiar that a city inhabited by dragons would have a no-flying rule.

Yet, this was a rule established by their ancestors, and coupled with the fact that the dragons here were quite laid-back—preferring to use transportation rather than flap their own wings—the rule had persisted.

Peroy’s sudden aerial descent naturally alerted the guards nearby.

In the next second, guards from various races appeared around Peroy.

Each of these guards exuded the aura of a Dragon King.

Dragon King-level beings were exceedingly rare among most races; at worst, they could become a minor leader. It was exceptionally uncommon for one to be a maid like Eileen, unless their circumstances were identical to Faltis’s.

However, on Sky Fantasy Island, these Dragon King-level dragons could only… no, rather, becoming a guard on Sky Fantasy Island was the dream of most dragons.

Their previously stern expressions softened into helpless shakes of their heads upon seeing Peroy.

It seemed Peroy was a frequent offender, a habitual troublemaker.

“Lady Peroy, please show some respect for the regulations. Even you are not exempt from this.” A Red Dragon guard stepped forward and stated.

It appeared this Red Dragon guard knew Peroy from before, perhaps even having been her subordinate.

“My apologies, my apologies! It’s been so long since I’ve been here, I completely forgot.” For the first time, Eileen witnessed Peroy’s rare display of submission. “Please, don’t tell the Red Dragon Queen?”

‘So she’s afraid of Her Majesty, the Red Dragon Queen…’

“I apologize, Lady Peroy, but these are the rules.” The regulations of Sky Fantasy Island could not be altered simply because of Peroy.

Not even the current Red Dragon Queen, let alone Peroy, the future Red Dragon Queen, would be shown any leniency if they stood here.

“Ugh, another year of being grounded,” Peroy sighed deeply.

As for Sky Fantasy Island’s punishments, they were relatively lenient for Calamity-level Dragon Kings. Usually, it was just a verbal warning. However, since Peroy was a repeat offender, she would typically fly in at the start of every meeting, get arrested, her mother would be notified, and then she’d be grounded.

It was a ritual she endured every five years.

“How many times has this happened? You should have learned your lesson by now,” Faltis remarked.

“Don’t lecture me! Didn’t you also fly when you first arrived at Sky Fantasy Island?” Peroy retorted.

However, Faltis simply chose to ignore her. “Eileen and I still have things to do in here.”

“What things? Let me join!” Peroy, ever one to enjoy a good spectacle, seemed eager to get involved.

“What business is it of yours, meddling in affairs between us, master and maid?” Faltis said, pulling Eileen towards the room.

Peroy tried to follow, but a door blocked her path.

While this door could withstand magic below the eighth tier, it was certainly no match for Peroy. The problem, however, was that if she were to break the door, the subsequent issues would be far more complicated than merely informing her mother.

“Tsk, it’s always so restrictive and troublesome after coming to Sky Fantasy Island,” Peroy grumbled, clearly annoyed.

Unlike Faltis, Peroy didn’t seem to particularly enjoy Sky Fantasy Island.

She turned, about to flap her wings and leave, when she suddenly realized something. “Hey! Faltis! Open the door for me!”

“The first time you flew, others might forgive you because you’re Calamity-level. But only a few minutes have passed; flying again would be a blatant provocation.”

Peroy wasn’t so reckless as to go to such extremes.

But Faltis couldn’t be bothered with her. “Go cool off outside, or jump down. You’re thick-skinned anyway; a fall won’t kill you.”

“Lady Faltis… isn’t that a bit harsh?” Eileen was not entirely clear on the relationship between Faltis and Peroy.
