Chapter 19: A Maid’s Resolve

The bright moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating Eileen, making her long silver hair shimmer with a sacred glow.

She appeared as beautiful as an angel descended from the heavens.

She gazed at the sleeping Faltis before her, a hint of helplessness in her eyes.

After all, her entire body ached, and she had been standing motionless in this spot for several hours.

It wasn’t that Eileen didn’t want to sit; rather, her tail was currently being embraced by a certain dragon.

Eileen had just placed her tail on the table, intending to pick up some documents, when it was suddenly seized in an embrace. There was simply nothing she could do!

‘Right! Exactly! That’s precisely it! It definitely wasn’t because Eileen was worried Faltis’s arm would go numb from being pressed for too long.’

However, Eileen noticed Faltis’s eyebrow twitch. Had she woken up?

“Faltis?” Eileen called softly, fearing her voice might be too loud. It wouldn’t do to wake her if she was still asleep.

Faltis did not open her eyes, but Eileen knew with absolute certainty that the other woman was already awake.

Her tail was inexplicably enveloped by two soft mounds now; this woman had pulled her tail closer.

“Faltis, I know you’re awake,” Eileen stated.

Since the pretense could no longer be maintained, Faltis opened her eyes. “How do you address your master, Eileen?”

Faltis gently caressed Eileen’s tail, sending a shiver down Eileen’s spine.

‘Damn it! This tail has been thoroughly ‘trained’ by her! Even though it’s just my tail she’s touching, it feels as if my entire body is being stroked.’

“Or perhaps you intend to go back on your word?” Faltis rested her head against Eileen’s tail.

The cool, smooth sensation was incredibly comfortable. She looked at Eileen with a hint of expectation, but more so with doting eyes.

It was as if she were watching her rebellious little maid, eager to see what act of defiance she would attempt next.

Eileen gritted her teeth, utterly and completely ensnared by this woman. “Faltis… Mistress.”

Yet, this time, Eileen’s tone was not laced with the same hatred or reluctance as before.

Now, Eileen sounded more like she was merely shy.

‘I can’t hold back my smile,’ Faltis thought. ‘How adorable.’

“Hey! Why are you hugging my tail even tighter?! That spot… it’s very sensitive…” Eileen felt her legs weaken, almost unable to stand.

“Next time, you mustn’t call your master by name directly, understood?” Faltis said with a beaming smile.

She didn’t truly care about the title; she merely wished to tease her adorable little maid.

“Understood… Mistress Faltis.” Eileen gasped for breath, relieved that the other woman had finally stopped.

Seeing Faltis release her grip, Eileen slowly withdrew her tail from inside Faltis’s clothing.

“Were you worried about me? Even thoughtfully giving me your tail as a pillow?” Faltis inquired.

“That was merely an accident! Who would ever care about you?” Eileen might lack in other areas, but her stubbornness was unwavering.

Faltis rose, an article of clothing slowly slipping from her body. “Hmm?”

She bent down to pick up the white shirt, the amusement in her eyes deepening. “Oh? And what is this, then?”

“I don’t know. Perhaps someone saw Mistress Faltis sleeping here and covered you with it.” Eileen’s face clearly conveyed one message: ‘I give up.’

As long as she didn’t admit it, it wasn’t her doing.

“You’re suggesting someone could approach within two hundred meters of me without my knowledge? Do you truly believe that yourself?” Faltis chuckled.

“Didn’t I just do it?” Eileen retorted, hands on her hips.

“Indeed, because it was you, I didn’t notice.” Faltis gently stroked Eileen’s cheek.

Eileen vaguely remembered hearing something about that, but it didn’t matter. “Then, it must have been a random gust of wind that blew the clothes onto you.”

Faltis placed a finger on Eileen’s lips, gently pinching them. “As expected, even the most stubborn mouth feels soft to the touch.”

“Don’t you already know if it’s soft? It was my first time, after all…” Eileen mumbled under her breath, silver scales unconsciously beginning to sprout on her arms.

There was simply nothing she could do about it! Forget kissing; even as Kassim, he hadn’t even held a girl’s hand, too preoccupied with fighting dragons.

What Eileen didn’t realize was that as she spoke those words, golden scales also appeared on Faltis’s face.

However, Faltis had already composed herself before Eileen could notice.

‘No, no! I didn’t come here just to be teased by Faltis.’

“Mistress Faltis, did you summon me for something?” Eileen asked.

“It’s nothing now,” Faltis replied, having already obtained the answer she desired.

‘Truly, the one I chose.’

“May I ask you a question, then?”

“Of course. How could I refuse my little maid’s request?”

“Before our duel, you told me I knew nothing, right?” Eileen inquired.

Faltis nodded. “What? Do you want me to tell you?”

Eileen shook her head. “No, that would be meaningless, and besides…”

Eileen hesitated, unsure whether to speak her thoughts.

“You’re considering my feelings.” Her little maid was a bit too easy to read. “Go on, I won’t get angry.”

“Then, I’ll say it.” Eileen took a deep breath, preparing herself. “The following statement is not directed at Mistress Faltis in any way, nor do I mean to imply any disbelief in Mistress Faltis.”

“If I were to learn this matter from Mistress Faltis’s own mouth, wouldn’t I become exactly as Mistress Faltis described me before? I wouldn’t have seen it for myself, merely believed it based on someone else’s words.”

“Therefore, I intend that during my time as Mistress Faltis’s maid, I will use my own eyes to witness the so-called truth. If… Faltis was deceiving me before, then I will not hesitate to draw my sword against you once more.”

Faltis clapped her hands, satisfied. “Of course, you may.”

“Mistress Faltis, you just said you wouldn’t get angry, didn’t you?” Eileen sensed that Faltis’s gaze was somewhat unsettling.

“Of course. I said I wouldn’t get angry, so naturally, I won’t get angry.” Faltis placed both hands on Eileen’s shoulders.

“Mistress Faltis… Didn’t you say you wouldn’t get angry? It hurts…”

“I’m simply angry because I’m about to go to sleep, and you haven’t warmed the bed for me. So, it might hurt even more in a moment,” Faltis whispered softly into Eileen’s ear.

But Eileen knew very well that this woman was absolutely not a gentle soul!
