Chapter 59: The Sweet Provocation

‘Do you truly have the leisure to provoke me like this?’ Faltis thought. ‘Excellent, Eileen, you’re absolutely asking for it!’

“How could that be, Eileen? I merely find you utterly adorable like this,” Faltis purred, holding a teacup in one hand while pressing a finger to her lips with the other. “If you finish that, there’s more here, and plenty of it, too. As long as you desire it, it will always be available.”

‘I surrender, meow!’

“No, thank you! I can pour my own, Lady Faltis!”

“Oh, really?” Faltis, however, was far from finished.

She produced a bag filled with sweets, a bag Eileen had left for her. “This portion is rather generous; I can’t possibly eat it all by myself. Shall we share it?”

‘Generous portion?’ Eileen thought. ‘How could that be?’ She had bought the standard size, which was already based on human consumption. It was abundantly clear that Faltis had deliberately saved it. Eileen wondered what new scheme she was concocting now.

Faltis rose to her feet, and Eileen quickly followed suit.

“Eileen, please, sit,” Faltis said.

“How could a servant sit while Lady Faltis stands?” Eileen replied.

Faltis gently placed a hand on Eileen’s shoulder. “If you don’t sit, then where shall I sit?”

Eileen was already regretting her decision to come over. She wished she had never bothered.

As Eileen sat down, Faltis directly straddled her lap. With the table pressing against their backs, it was impossible for them to maintain any distance.

Eileen could distinctly feel Faltis’s breath on her skin, along with the soft, ample curves pressed against her chest.

Given that both were wearing loose nightgowns, the slightest movement threatened intimate skin-to-skin contact. Moreover, Faltis’s pale skin was brazenly exposed before Eileen, leaving her automatic targeting system utterly bewildered.

“Lady Faltis, don’t you find this rather cramped?” Eileen ventured.

“Oh? You don’t enjoy being this close to me?”

“Not at all.”

“Then there’s no problem, is there?” Faltis extracted a chocolate stick from the bag and placed it in her mouth.

“…?”

“Lady Faltis, what exactly do you mean by this?” Eileen asked, gazing at Faltis with the chocolate stick in her mouth, utterly perplexed.

“What do I mean? Are you truly still unclear?” Faltis didn’t believe for a second that Eileen wouldn’t understand the implication.

“Ah! I understand!” Eileen exclaimed, taking a chocolate stick from the bag and putting it in her own mouth.

She shook her head, causing her chocolate stick to collide with Faltis’s, making sure hers broke with a particularly detailed snap. “Wow! Lady Faltis is amazing!”

Faltis’s expression visibly darkened. “Are you making a fool of me?!”

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!” Eileen quickly apologized. “But I truly don’t know what this is supposed to mean, Lady Faltis.”

Eileen looked at Faltis with a pitiful, wronged expression.

“You truly don’t know?” Faltis studied Eileen, who didn’t seem to be lying.

“I honestly don’t, Lady Faltis. I’ve lived my entire life within the Empire, only ever encountering swords, magic, and survival skills. I’m sure Lady Faltis, you’re well aware of this, aren’t you?”

“…”

“My apologies… I didn’t consider it properly this time.” Faltis bit off her chocolate stick, then placed the broken piece into Eileen’s mouth.

Eileen was still reeling in shock. She even wondered if she had misheard; *the* Faltis apologizing to her? It was utterly unbelievable. But there was no time to ponder. Eileen was about to face Faltis’s ‘face wash’.

Faltis embraced Eileen. “Over twenty years of life, yet only learning and dragon-slaying?”

It was possible Eileen knew even less about certain human customs than Faltis did.

“Not exactly.”

“Then what else?”

“Visiting nobles and offering them gifts?”

“So, these are gifts you specifically brought back for me?” Faltis asked.

“I just bought too many…”

Faltis slid off Eileen’s lap.

“Are you implying that the food you give your mistress is mere leftovers from a servant?” Faltis stared at Eileen.

As expected of an old schemer who had lived for centuries, Eileen was no match for her.

Eileen’s eyebrow twitched. If she were to nod now, she had a terrible feeling she’d end up in that damned infirmary again.

“How could that be? I bought these specifically for Lady Faltis!” Eileen insisted.

“Then what does this writing mean?” Faltis pointed to the line that read: [Bought too many in Gran Town, definitely not bought for you on purpose.]

‘To add insult to injury?’

“It might be a prank by the shopkeeper,” Eileen offered.

“Which shopkeeper?” Faltis opened her hand, and a golden flame ignited in her palm.

‘Oh, I really…’

“I bought them specially for Lady Faltis! But I didn’t want you to think I prepared them specifically for you, so I did it this way. Are you satisfied?!” Eileen’s face flushed crimson.

“Of course, I’m very satisfied. Thank you for the gift, I’m very happy.” Faltis sat opposite Eileen, propping her chin on her hands, a smile playing on her lips as she watched Eileen.

‘What was wrong with Faltis today?’ Eileen wondered. ‘Apologizing and thanking me?’

“As long as Lady Faltis likes it…” Eileen looked up at Faltis, somewhat dazed. Honestly, Faltis was truly beautiful when she was quiet, but she rarely stayed quiet.

And sure enough, barely a moment had passed before Faltis’s leg found its way between Eileen’s, slowly inching beneath her nightgown.

Just as Faltis was about to commit some mischief, Eileen’s hand shot out, seizing Faltis’s bare foot.

“Eileen…”

‘Hmph! How could Eileen let you stay on the offensive all the time? Only by acting first can one seize the initiative.’

“I understand what you mean, Lady Faltis. You’re looking for a foot massage, aren’t you?” Eileen’s hands moved faster than her mouth, already beginning the massage.

“Hiss…” Eileen truly had a knack for it. “I didn’t expect you to know so many things.”

‘Many things?’ Eileen mused. ‘Not really. Aside from combat skills, almost everything else I learned was from the Dragon Clan.’

Faltis, for her part, settled down and began to genuinely enjoy Eileen’s service. Whether it was intentional or if Eileen’s skill was truly that remarkable, Faltis occasionally let out seductive moans, making Eileen’s heart flutter with a strange tickle.
