Chapter 75: A Troublesome Proposition

Peroy Labish approached Eileen Calibot.

‘Who could possibly be so familiar with the Golden Dragon territory, and so skilled in ice magic, to wear such armor?’ she wondered. ‘It’s truly difficult to guess.’

Peroy regarded Eileen with a knowing smile.

If this incident, a servant of the Golden Dragon Queen slaughtering her own kind within the Golden Dragon territory, were to spread, it would undoubtedly cause significant trouble for Faltis Calibot at the Sky Fantasy Island conference.

Eileen struggled, desperate to break free, but at this moment, she was utterly incapable.

“Don’t move recklessly. It would be quite troublesome if you were to get injured,” Peroy advised, stepping closer to Eileen.

As Peroy advanced, step by step, Eileen found herself powerless.

“There’s no need to panic; I bear no ill will,” Peroy reassured Eileen. “Faltis and I have been old friends for many years, so naturally, I wouldn’t do anything overly extreme… However, that depends entirely on your attitude.”

‘What exactly does she want?’ Eileen thought.

“Your Majesty, the Red Dragon, what is it you intend to do?”

“I’ve already told you, don’t use that title for me. Besides, I’m not the Red Dragon Queen just yet,” Peroy replied.

Peroy Labish was indeed not yet the Red Dragon Queen. The reason she was addressed as ‘Your Majesty, the Red Dragon’ was because her mother was the current queen, and Peroy was the only one among many trial-takers to have succeeded in her trials.

It was virtually a foregone conclusion that she would become the Red Dragon Queen. However, she herself seemed to harbor little interest in the position.

It was precisely this nonchalant attitude that had prevented the current Red Dragon Queen from abdicating.

And it was also because of this that Peroy found herself with the time to appear in the Golden Dragon territory at this juncture.

“Lady Peroy, what do you wish to do? If you intend for me to become your maid, then please disabuse yourself of that notion.”

Peroy looked somewhat dejected. “You are truly loyal to Faltis, aren’t you?”

But the more Eileen resisted, the more Peroy’s interest was piqued. “How about this, then? I won’t force you to be my maid indefinitely. However, you must serve as my maid during our journey to Sky Fantasy Island. Surely, that’s not too much to ask?”

“You call that ‘not too much to ask’? Faltis would…”

“Precisely! As a servant, you would not only fail to attend to your own mistress but also run off to serve another,” Peroy interjected.

“It’s highly probable Faltis would beat me to death for it.”

“Lady Peroy, please don’t make things difficult for me.”

“Neither this nor that? Very well, I shall make my final concession,” Peroy declared, as if making a monumental sacrifice. “Then, how about this: you visited Sky Fantasy Island five years ago, so you must know that only authorized personnel are permitted into the conference, correct?”

“Yes,” Eileen acknowledged, quite aware of the rules.

“And I, as it happens, am precisely such an unauthorized person.”

“Lady Peroy, please don’t jest. This is an extremely important conference. How could you not participate?” Eileen said.

A Calamity-tier dragon as an ‘unauthorized person’? What a joke.

However, if Peroy truly wished, she had no obligation to participate in the conference.

The conference only required the queens of various races to attend. While Calamity-tier dragons, as the pinnacle of draconic combat power, certainly possessed the qualifications to participate, it was entirely up to their discretion.

In other words, if Eileen possessed Calamity-tier strength, she could attend even as a maid.

“I’m not the Red Dragon Queen, so of course I don’t have to participate,” Peroy stated.

“I believe the current Red Dragon Queen would not allow Lady Peroy to wander off like this.”

“It doesn’t matter. I can just wait for the conference to begin and then go to the island, can’t I?” Peroy said dismissively.

No wonder the Red Dragon Queen had been unwilling to abdicate.

“Stop worrying about this and that. As long as you don’t say anything, Faltis won’t know. We can just quietly spend these next few days together,” Peroy remarked.

“That’s not quite…”

“It seems you wish for what happened today to become known. I’m not entirely certain, but if I were to attend the conference, I might accidentally let something slip,” Peroy chuckled.

This was a blatant threat, yet Eileen had no particularly good alternative. “Alright then…”

“Hehe, this is our little secret, you know. No third person can ever find out,” Peroy said, utterly satisfied.

“Understood,” Eileen replied, feeling somewhat vexed. “Before that, Lady Peroy, could you do me a favor?”

“Of course,” Peroy extended her hand. “However, I’ve heard you dislike fire intensely, so I’ll be extra careful.”

Eileen didn’t even need to speak; Peroy already knew what she wanted.

‘It’s best not to use extremely powerful magic before one has fully mastered it.’ While Peroy’s fire control was exceptional, Eileen’s magical talent wasn’t quite on par with her own.

Flames ignited in Peroy’s hand, and she gently took Eileen’s.

The fire slowly melted the ice encasing Eileen, and her armor, unable to withstand the drastic shift from extreme cold to intense heat, gradually shattered and fell to the ground.

“This is my first time seeing you in different clothes,” Peroy mused. Eileen wasn’t wearing her maid uniform, but rather a casual short shirt and shorts.

This new appearance of Eileen gave Peroy a fresh, intriguing impression, prompting her to gaze a moment longer.

As the armor broke apart, Eileen saw that her arm had completely turned to ice. If she had made any significant movements earlier, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

These ice shards slowly melted under Peroy’s flames.

Eileen felt sensation gradually returning to her hand.

“Thank you so much, Lady Peroy. If I had to recover on my own, I don’t know how long it would have taken.” Eileen’s hand was now almost fully recovered, though it might still feel a little cold to the touch.

“It’s nothing, just a trivial matter,” Peroy said. “Originally, I thought if you refused, I would simply take you with me anyway.”

“…That’s a bit outrageous, but it’s certainly something Peroy would do,” Eileen thought. ‘I’m truly fortunate to have made the right decision.’

“However, since it was such a trivial matter,” Eileen began, “Lady Peroy, might you release my hand now?”

“Oh, I can’t do that.”

“Why not?”

“What if there are some lingering side effects? Besides, look, it’s not hot at all,” Peroy said, her fingers intertwined with Eileen’s, showing no intention of letting go.

Indeed, Peroy’s temperature control was perfect; even Eileen, who was highly sensitive to temperature, felt no discomfort whatsoever.

“There won’t be, Lady Peroy. I know my own body very well. There are still many things that need to be dealt with right now.”

The outside was in chaos, and she had to clear the traces and leave before other dragons noticed. Otherwise, there would be many more ‘Peroys’ to contend with.

Moreover, the matter with Saiana was not yet fully resolved.

“Lady Peroy, please don’t continue this. It will become very troublesome soon. If the situation outside isn’t handled properly and others discover it, then I won’t be able to go to Sky Fantasy Island with Lady Faltis at all.”

“Let alone be your maid.” Only then did Peroy release her hand. However, she had no intention of leaving, instead following closely behind Eileen.

“You’re not planning to go back?” Eileen asked.

“No. There isn’t much time left until Sky Fantasy Island opens. I might as well just follow behind you all,” Peroy replied.

“Wouldn’t that be inappropriate from any perspective?”

If dragons became too close, they would attract unwanted attention. The emergence of an unforeseen alliance could upset the balance between dragon races, leading to troublesome consequences.

The Golden Dragon clan, ever since the death of the previous Golden Dragon Queen, had not had any alliances.

If such a situation were to arise now, it could easily be exploited by others.

“What’s inappropriate about it?” Peroy said carelessly. “You should finish handling things here first. After all, something so serious happened, and considering Saiana’s previous dragon form, they must have already detected it. They’re probably already on their way, aren’t they?”

“Then why did you just hold me back, Lady Peroy, preventing me from leaving?” Eileen felt a surge of frustration. ‘You clearly knew time was tight, yet you held my hand and wouldn’t let go.’

However, Peroy had inadvertently solved a minor problem for Eileen.

Eileen approached Lisa. “How did Lady Peroy just happen to bring her along?”

“I found her quite amusing, fighting back and forth with a dummy. So I played with her for a bit, and then…” Peroy shrugged.

These two had truly stumbled into luck; one faced Peroy, and the other faced Faltis.

Eileen crushed a magic orb, signaling to Faltis that things were almost concluded, and she merely needed to return to tie up loose ends.

However, Eileen had not anticipated that the moment she crushed the orb, a golden light would descend directly, smashing a hole in the library’s roof.

The target of that golden light was unmistakably Peroy.

Faltis held Nialynne in her hand, and for the first time in front of Eileen, Peroy drew her weapon.

A dark red spear, adorned, of course, with a vibrant emerald gem.

“Long time no see, Faltis. Your way of greeting is as strange as ever.”

“There are clear regulations among dragonkind: Calamity-tier dragons are not permitted to casually trespass upon another’s territory.”
