A sudden chill crept down Eileen’s spine. The bracelet on her wrist instantly shimmered, transforming into the familiar Shalandor shield.
However, just as the black flames were about to engulf Eileen, a flash of golden light pierced through.
“Tsk, didn’t she already react? How boring.” The shadowy figure wiped away the bloodstains on their hand—marks Faltis had left just moments before.
Only a second ago, the Black Dragon Queen had been speaking cordially with them, but in the next, she had launched a sudden attack.
Eileen’s heart hammered in her chest. She could sense that the strike was not something she could have defended against on her own.
Fortunately, Faltis had been watching the entire time, preventing any mishap.
Now, however, Faltis was visibly angered.
“Since the full extent of the situation has been revealed, there’s no longer any reason for you to remain here, is there?” Faltis’s voice was cold. “The meeting for the Sky-Colored Fantasy Island is about to commence. If you all linger, I fear the agenda will have to be altered.”
“Leave now, and I will not pursue the matter of your unauthorized intrusion into my territory.”
Not all queens had gathered here. Such a prolonged assembly of multiple queens would naturally raise the suspicions of those not bound by alliance. The worst possible outcome was that the queens present had yet to form a pact, while those who hadn’t arrived had already forged their own alliances.
The queens dispersed in various directions. As Peroy passed Eileen, she leaned in and whispered, her voice audible only to them both, “Don’t forget our agreement, alright? I’m quite looking forward to the Sky-Colored Fantasy Island.”
Eileen’s body trembled almost imperceptibly before she nodded.
Once they had all departed, Eileen turned to face Faltis.
“Lady Faltis…?”
“Are you hurt?” Faltis circled Eileen, her gaze scrutinizing.
“Thanks to Lady Faltis’s timely intervention, I was fortunate enough to escape unharmed,” Eileen replied.
“Truly unharmed?” Faltis lifted Eileen’s arm, then playfully hitched up her skirt.
Eileen, still basking in Faltis’s concern, suddenly felt a cool breeze on her thighs.
“Lady Faltis!” Could her dignified demeanor truly be made any shorter? The other queens had only just left; they likely hadn’t even exited the Golden Dragon Sanctuary yet.
“It seems you truly are fine.” Faltis watched Eileen’s bashful reaction as she pressed her skirt down, a sight utterly identical to before.
“There’s no need to confirm it like that, I really am fine.” Eileen felt a little dejected, unsure what to say.
“Unleashing such a Grand Magic must have drained a significant amount of your mana, wouldn’t it?” Faltis extended a hand. “Come, fall into my embrace.”
“Not really, I didn’t feel—” Eileen’s legs gave out, and she collapsed directly into Faltis’s soft embrace, her ample bosom cushioning Eileen’s fall.
Faltis held Eileen close. “Don’t forget, I know your body even better than you do.”
“Why?” Eileen had felt no fatigue just moments ago.
“First, you likely didn’t even realize it yourself, but when you were slaughtering those traitors earlier, you were quite agitated, your spirit highly stimulated. This accelerated the mana circulation within your body.”
“A fully unleashed Grand Magic can completely deplete your mana. The reason you didn’t collapse sooner was Peroy’s sudden appearance and the arrival of the other queens, which forced you to forcefully endure and complete the subsequent tasks, protecting your body. So now, you can finally rest properly.” Faltis held Eileen gently.
Eileen didn’t struggle. Sometimes, leaning against Faltis’s chest like this felt quite nice.
“Was Lady Peroy’s appearance arranged by Lady Faltis?” Eileen inquired.
“Why would you think that?” Faltis asked in return.
“Because Lady Peroy and Lady Faltis seem to have a rather good relationship?” Eileen ventured.
“Are you jealous?”
“How could I possibly be jealous?!”
“Amongst Calamity-tier beings, there are only interests. If you wish to secure the assistance of a Calamity-tier dragon, you must be prepared for a substantial price,” Faltis explained. “Are you reassured now?”
“Then Lady Peroy’s appearance was something Lady Faltis hadn’t anticipated?” Eileen asked.
“Partially, but not entirely. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have appeared so quickly.” Faltis had been on her way from the moment the plan began.
“Why did Lady Faltis believe that Lady Peroy would rush here first?”
“Because of you, my little darling,” Faltis replied.
“Because of me?!”
Eileen felt her heart quicken. Oh no, surely Faltis hadn’t overheard what they had said to each other? That shouldn’t be possible.
Peroy was also Calamity-tier; she would surely have considered Faltis’s presence when speaking those words.
Then again, it wouldn’t be unusual for her not to, given that she was Peroy. And based on Faltis’s words, she clearly knew of the conversation’s existence.
Oh no, she was in for a scolding!
“Indeed. She’s been watching you since five years ago. Coupled with the fact that the conference is about to begin, she would naturally be lurking near the Golden Dragon Territory. The reason I kept my distance from the Golden Dragon Territory was twofold: first, to show others that I had left, making it seem as though this matter had nothing to do with me; second, because that one has constantly been wandering around with a purpose.”
Eileen breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed this was merely a misunderstanding.
“Then, Lady Faltis, how did I perform on this mission?” Eileen asked.
“What? Eager for your master’s praise?” Faltis smiled, her eyes filled with doting affection as she gazed at Eileen in her arms.
“You did quite well. I always thought you’d show Saiana some mercy, but you were the most ruthless with her, even resorting to Grand Magic,” Faltis remarked.
Eileen gave an awkward laugh. What else could she do? Ordinary attacks certainly wouldn’t have harmed Saiana.
She had to choose between Grand Magic and Dragon Slaying Sword Arts.
Eileen had wanted to test if there was any issue with her Grand Magic, and since the opponent also wished to see it, she had decided to use it.
After today’s events, however, Eileen would likely refrain from using Grand Magic for quite some time.
“Why wasn’t Lady Faltis willing to tell me about Teacher Saiana at first?” This didn’t seem like something worth concealing, and Faltis hadn’t done anything wrong.
“Idiot, why do you keep asking such questions every day?”
Eileen had no idea why she was being scolded inexplicably again.
“Haven’t I always told you that some things you must see and hear for yourself? What you learn from others is not necessarily the truth,” Faltis stated.
‘So Lady Faltis means I shouldn’t believe her either,’ Eileen thought.
“It seems you’re asking for a lesson.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Eileen pleaded repeatedly.
“However, Faltis seems to be in quite a good mood today. Considering your rather good performance afterward, I’ll spare you for now.”
“My lady, thank you, Lady Faltis. But, could Lady Faltis put me down? I feel like I can walk normally now,” Eileen said.
“Oh, no, that won’t do. Given your performance today, I must bestow upon you a reward,” Faltis declared.
“What reward?” Eileen felt a pang of panic. Whenever Faltis mentioned a reward, it always seemed to imply something less than desirable.
“That would be…”
Faltis held Eileen close, walking step by step out of the library.
“Wait! Lady Faltis! I’m just a little tired, not unable to walk!” Eileen instantly knew what Faltis intended to do. She tried to get up.
But her body truly lacked strength, and even if she had it, Eileen was no match for Faltis.
Eileen had no idea what would happen if Faltis carried her out like this, but the problem was that while a large portion of the dragons outside had been dealt with, many loyal dragons still remained.
If anyone saw her being carried out in such an embarrassing princess-carry, Eileen didn’t know how she would ever face them again.
“What’s wrong? You are the great hero of our Golden Dragon Territory. Is it not perfectly reasonable to enjoy the Golden Dragon Queen’s embrace?” Faltis paid no heed to Eileen’s protests.
“I’ll die! I’m a grown person, not a dragon, being carried out like a princess—it’s practically an execution!”
But Faltis disregarded her complaints. She simply carried Eileen out, as if making a grand declaration.
“Lady Faltis.”
The survivors knelt on both sides of the path.
They looked at Eileen in Faltis’s arms, and though some were puzzled, no one dared to speak out.
Faltis carried Eileen, step by step, towards the empty throne.
She settled onto it, with Eileen perched on her lap, docile and adorable, like an obedient little girlfriend, burying her face in Faltis’s chest.
In reality, Eileen was too mortified to look at the other dragonkin.
Faltis’s hand rested on the armrest of the throne.
The entire Golden Dragon Sanctuary began to tremble. Eileen, curious, peeked out and saw that the entire sanctuary was undergoing self-repair.
After about ten minutes, the Golden Dragon Sanctuary stopped shaking, completely restored.
“It has this function too???”
Faltis looked down at the subservient crowd, her gaze finally settling on Sophis.
“Sophis.”
“???” Sophis looked up, utterly astonished. How did Faltis know her name?
“Lady Faltis!” Sophis stepped forward and knelt before Faltis.
“Eileen told me that after she left, you were the only one guarding this throne,” Faltis stated.
“Lady Eileen? Did Lady Eileen save me?” Sophis only remembered being no match for her opponent, yet waking up in a relatively safe place.
“Yes.” Faltis nodded, then raised her hand.
A golden light descended upon Sophis, then teleported her away.
“This is the Golden Dragon’s trial. It’s up to you now.”
Eileen couldn’t quite make out the subsequent words, for she was so comfortable in Faltis’s arms. And because she didn’t want to face the others, she had buried her face in Faltis’s chest. It smelled sweet and felt soft. Seeing nothing, the fatigue in her body soon washed over her.
Eileen simply fell asleep in Faltis’s embrace.
When she next awoke, she was in a familiar bed. Eileen opened her eyes, gazing at the familiar ceiling.
Her intuition told her to close her eyes and go back to sleep, or she would be in trouble soon.
But the truth was, if she closed her eyes, Faltis’s games would only escalate.
How could Faltis possibly miss Eileen’s subtle movements and thoughts?
However, Faltis was in no hurry. She pretended not to notice Eileen, her head bowed as she attended to matters at hand. “There are less than five days until the Sky-Colored Fantasy Island meeting. We’re departing tomorrow. I wonder when Eileen will wake up?”
[Departing tomorrow?] Eileen knew she absolutely had to escape when Faltis left. In bed, Eileen had absolutely no chance of winning.
But why was Faltis walking towards the bed at this moment?
She approached Eileen, then pulled Eileen’s tail to use as a pillow.
Faltis poked Eileen’s cheek. “Such a sleepy little one, truly. So much time has passed, and there’s still no sign of waking.”
Thankfully, this was still within Eileen’s acceptable range.
“As a maid, needing her master to help with bathing and dressing is truly excessive, isn’t it?” Faltis continued.
Eileen did feel that the clothes she was wearing were not the ones she had on before. Had Faltis actually changed her?
Though a bit embarrassing, it was still within an acceptable range.
“Even when you’re unconscious, your body sometimes gives off adorable reactions,” Faltis added.
[Hey! What exactly did you do while I was asleep?]
But this also meant Eileen absolutely couldn’t wake up now, or things would become even more outrageous than when she was unconscious.
Faltis watched Eileen with a sly smile. She truly had remarkable endurance. But what about this?
“That’s truly wonderful, Eileen.”
Faltis repeated Eileen’s earlier words: “My name is Eileen Calibot, a Silver Dragon maid belonging to Lady Faltis. Therefore… where Lady Faltis is, that is my home.”
“At that moment, hearing it made me feel a little shy,” Faltis said.
Help me!
Eileen’s eyes snapped open. “Lady Faltis! Please forget about that!”
“Oh, my, so you’ve already awakened,” Faltis feigned surprise, though a perpetual smile graced her face.
“Tsk!” Eileen felt a pang of frustration. She knew she had fallen for it, but there was nothing she could do.
If she pretended to sleep, she would have to endure Faltis’s verbal humiliation. If she woke up, then it would be physical…
Eileen thought it over. In that case, physical it was.
