Join the ServerEileen certainly wouldn’t dare disregard Peroy under normal circumstances. However, with Faltis by her side, to address Peroy now would undoubtedly be courting death.
Despite walking shoulder to shoulder with Faltis, Eileen could distinctly feel Peroy’s gaze fixated upon her, a constant, unwavering presence.
Eileen tried her utmost to ignore Peroy, who lingered behind them. “Lady Faltis, where shall we go next?”
“Let’s simply wander around,” Faltis replied, completely disregarding Peroy. “It’s still early, after all.” With that, she guided Eileen into a nearby restaurant.
It truly felt like coming home. A server approached their table, menu in hand.
Eileen’s eyebrow twitched subtly. ‘A server of Dragon King caliber? Surely, I must be dreaming,’ she mused. ‘This is even more absurd than my own situation!’
Given the circumstances, Eileen wouldn’t be surprised to encounter a head chef of catastrophic power. After all, this place was teeming with former—and even former former—queens.
“What would you like to eat?” Faltis inquired.
“Anything is fine, I suppose.” Even so, Eileen harbored a healthy skepticism regarding the culinary skills of these patrons.
“Then let me take a look,” Faltis decided, perusing the menu. Eileen, with time on her hands, let her gaze drift around the establishment.
The layout largely mirrored that of a human restaurant, though it was considerably more spacious. This was a necessity, of course, given that dragons possessed wings and tails, making their physiques naturally far larger than humans’.
Eileen twitched her ears, catching snippets of conversation from the adjacent table. Tales of individuals repelling entire armies, or singlehandedly routing dragon-slaying teams led by formidable dragon slayers, filled the air.
Whether these stories were true or merely tall tales, Eileen couldn’t say. Yet, a distinct sense of ‘table-side bravado’ pervaded the atmosphere.
Nevertheless, Eileen found herself quite entertained.
As Eileen continued to observe her surroundings, her gaze settled on a small, secluded corner not far off, where two dragonkin maidens were seated.
Each of them held a chocolate stick, immediately capturing Eileen’s attention. She recalled Lady Faltis once holding a similar chocolate stick, seemingly intending to do something with her.
At the time, however, Eileen hadn’t understood the implication.
“What are you looking at?” Faltis asked, having already placed their order. Noticing Eileen’s intense focus on something in the distance, Faltis couldn’t help but follow her gaze.
“Ah, so that’s it,” Faltis murmured, instantly comprehending the reason for Eileen’s rapt attention.
Faltis, however, chose not to join Eileen in watching. After all, Eileen’s reaction in a moment promised to be far more entertaining than anything those two were doing.
‘After all, Lady Faltis seemed to have done something similar last time,’ Eileen thought, a dawning realization freezing her in place. ‘At that moment, I simply didn’t understand what Lady Faltis meant, so…’
She watched as one of the maidens held a chocolate stick in her mouth, facing the other. The second maiden then bit onto the opposite end, gradually inching forward with each nibble, their faces drawing closer and closer.
One of them, seemingly overcome with shyness, closed her eyes. Seizing the moment, the other devoured the remaining chocolate stick, then gently licked the first maiden’s lips.
Eileen’s mind seemed to short-circuit. Her fair skin flushed crimson at a visible pace, and tiny scales began to sprout along her arms.
“Do you understand now?” Faltis asked.
‘Yes, exactly,’ Faltis thought. ‘This is precisely what I wanted to witness – Eileen’s bashful expression. I could never tire of it.’
“Lady Faltis, this, you, she, uh…” Eileen stammered, her words a jumbled mess.
The shock of the scene was simply too overwhelming for her, especially considering Faltis had seemingly intended to do something similar to Eileen earlier.
“Ah, you’ve overloaded,” Faltis observed, gazing at Eileen with an indulgent smile.
Thanks to Eileen, the wait for their food wouldn’t be nearly as dull.
It would have been perfect, Faltis mused, if the person constantly ‘spying’ on them from the next table weren’t present.
The recent situation could be summarized thus:
Eileen watched the two dragonkin maidens, while Faltis and Peroy watched Eileen.
From Peroy’s vantage point, however, she couldn’t see the young couple. Consequently, she remained oblivious to the subsequent exchange between Eileen and Faltis.
“Alright, don’t dwell on it anymore,” Faltis said. “It’s time to eat.”
“Oh, um…” Eileen slowly regained her composure, though a faint blush still colored her cheeks.
“Eileen, would you like to try it?” Faltis suddenly asked, her eyes playfully lingering on the chocolate stick protruding from the ice cream near Eileen’s hand.
“No, no, no!” Eileen protested, shaking her head vigorously like a rattling drum.
“And why do you resist?” Faltis then whispered, her voice barely audible to anyone but Eileen. “It seems I’ve already done *everything*. What’s more, I did it after you regained your memories, when your consciousness was perfectly clear, and when you had full self-awareness.”
All Eileen wanted at that moment was to find a place to bury herself. The more Faltis spoke, the less Eileen could bear it.
“Lady Faltis, please, I beg you, stop talking,” Eileen pleaded. “You can make me do anything you wish.”
“Oh? Is that so?” A faint, playful smile touched Faltis’s lips. Given Eileen’s current state, she stood no chance of outmaneuvering Faltis. “Then I shall have to ponder carefully what task to assign you.”
Eileen felt a pang of frustration, yet she was utterly helpless. If Faltis continued, Eileen felt she wouldn’t be able to remain seated in the restaurant for another moment.
‘Never mind,’ she thought, ‘what’s done is done. Let’s just eat.’
Eileen’s gaze fell upon the dishes adorning their table. The presentation and color were impeccable, though she remained curious about their taste.
“Lady Faltis, have you tried the food here before?” Eileen inquired.
“I believe so,” Faltis responded, “but it was a very long time ago.”
“And how was the taste?”
“Erm…” Faltis mused, a rare silence falling over her.
It seemed Eileen would have to discover the taste for herself.
Dragons, it appeared, either disliked or were simply unaccustomed to using chopsticks, typically opting for forks instead.
Eileen took a hesitant bite…
“How is it?” Faltis asked, a mischievous grin playing on her lips as she watched Eileen. “Doesn’t it taste wonderful?”
The only discernible difference between this and simply eating it raw, Eileen realized, was that it had likely been roasted over an open flame. No seasonings whatsoever had been added—pure, unadulterated ‘original flavor’!
