“So, that’s why you treat me this way?” Eileen asked.
“Mm.”
“Then, my next question.”
“Huh?” Faltis was somewhat taken aback. ‘The question was just skipped over like that? Shouldn’t she inquire further?’
“Inquire about what?” Eileen countered.
Faltis had not anticipated this at all. Eileen’s expression had not shifted in the slightest after learning this truth; she hadn’t even bothered to ask more. ‘Don’t you care about this?’ Faltis wondered.
“It’s impossible not to care,” Eileen replied, “but dwelling on this matter further serves no purpose, does it?”
“At that time, all I awaited was death. Yet, Lady Faltis conducted this experiment on me, granting me a sliver of hope.”
“The worst possible outcome would have been death, but Lady Faltis succeeded, didn’t she? I survived, and not only that, Lady Faltis returned my memories to me, allowing me to possess my own consciousness and thoughts.”
“Lady Faltis gave me everything,” Eileen concluded. “What more is there for me to dwell upon?”
“I… I truly didn’t misjudge you.”
Faltis rose to her feet. She wrapped her arm around Eileen’s waist. “Rest assured, I only acted with absolute certainty. However, there’s only one chance, which is why you are my greatest masterpiece, and my only one.”
Eileen did not fully grasp the meaning behind Faltis’s words.
“Lady Faltis, regarding the alliance…” Eileen intended to move on to her next question, but Faltis seemed to have no inclination to answer her at that moment.
Faltis simply pushed Eileen onto the bed.
“Lady Faltis?”
“Your mouth. I’m in the mood.”
“Just lie on the bed,” Faltis instructed.
‘What does ‘in the mood’ mean?!’
Faltis began to unfasten Eileen’s clothes.
No matter how many times this occurred, Eileen’s face would invariably flush with shyness. She resisted, yet she never refused.
It was this very aspect of Eileen that made her so endearing, endlessly captivating.
“Close your eyes,” Faltis commanded.
“Oh,” Eileen obediently closed her eyes.
Then, she felt it: soft lips approaching, a touch of coldness. Her mouth was gently pried open, and Eileen could sense a soft tongue entering, searching for something.
Eileen wasn’t entirely sure why Faltis always insisted she close her eyes whenever they kissed.
She tried to peek, to secretly open her eyes, but found she couldn’t. Faltis had clearly anticipated this.
This left Eileen feeling a little frustrated.
The next day, as Eileen opened her eyes, preparing to rise, Faltis suddenly grabbed her tail.
“Lady Faltis, I need to prepare breakfast now. Please release my tail,” Eileen requested.
“You don’t need to prepare it,” Faltis said, pulling Eileen gently into her embrace with a slight tug. “Just tell the hotel staff, and they’ll get our food ready.”
“Oh… mm.” Enveloped in the warmth, Eileen felt a little lost.
“Yesterday, you still had some questions, didn’t you? Now, you can properly discuss them with me,” Faltis said.
“Regarding the alliance, what are your thoughts, Lady Faltis?” Eileen inquired, repeating her question.
“Of course, not a single word can be believed.”
Faltis’s words caught Eileen by surprise. “’Nothing can be believed’—what do you mean by that?” Eileen asked, slightly confused.
“Everything she said about aid, and her claims about being impressed by my strength—not a single word of it can be trusted,” Faltis explained. “How could anyone seek an alliance based on such flimsy words? There are plenty of people stronger than me, not to mention the mess that is the Golden Dragon Territory. A promising future? That’s only if there *is* a future.”
“Then why did Lady Faltis agree?” Eileen asked.
“Because I need her intelligence—information about the Empire.”
“But Lady Faltis isn’t concerned with the Empire, are you?” Eileen asked, not quite understanding.
“But you are, aren’t you?”
“…” Eileen looked up at Faltis.
Indeed, Eileen cared deeply. While she was no longer human and fully embraced her identity as a dragon, she still held a lingering concern for her former homeland.
“Besides, I’m also curious to see how far humans will go,” Faltis mused. “After the conference, I’ll take you to see it, shall I?”
“Mm.”
“Ah… so annoying.” The mere mention of the conference gave Faltis a headache. “I’ll have to go to the Tree of Origin to prepare soon. I wonder if I can even bring you inside.”
“You’re going soon?” The conference wasn’t scheduled to begin for another four days.
“It’s a bit troublesome to make preparations beforehand. Plus, I need to see if I can bring you in, so I have to leave a little early,” Faltis explained.
“Is that so?”
Faltis looked at Eileen, warning her, “You are to stay in this room, obediently. Even if someone comes and asks you to open the door, you are not to open it, understand? Especially for Peroy.”
“Is it really necessary to be so dramatic?” Eileen chuckled awkwardly.
“I’m kidding. Besides, with your personality, you would absolutely, certainly open the door for Peroy. After all, I haven’t shown any particular animosity towards her, have I?” Faltis looked at Eileen.
Eileen felt a pang of guilt. It was true that if Faltis had shown hostility towards Peroy, Eileen would certainly have kept her distance. But it was clear that Peroy and Faltis were more like friends.
Moreover… she had been seen, and she had already agreed to it. However, it seemed one couldn’t enter the conference before it began… Never mind, Eileen wasn’t the type of dragon to do something like that.
“Explore the Azure Fantasy Island more. Otherwise, by the time we go to the Empire, I might know more about the human world than you do,” Faltis said.
“That… that really might be the case,” Eileen chuckled awkwardly. “Then I’ll go explore Azure Fantasy Island.”
“However, remember this: if Peroy truly comes looking for you, you need to be a little cautious,” Faltis instructed before departing.
Not long after she left, a red figure appeared outside the door.
“Has Faltis left?”
