Chapter 95: A Morning by the Sea

What exactly am I like in your eyes? Peroy thought, feeling a touch of melancholy.

‘Not like a bad person.’

‘I shouldn’t have asked.’

This thought only deepened Peroy’s gloom.

“Peroy, do you know what the meeting is about?”

Eileen asked, eager to hear the opinion of the notorious warmonger. She suspected Peroy would likely oppose Faltis, given her well-known inability to remain idle.

Peroy cast a sidelong glance at Eileen, appearing to ponder whether to share the details with her.

“Peroy, it truly was rude of me to ask such a question,” Eileen admitted. “How could something so important be casually discussed?”

Eileen didn’t want to put Peroy in an awkward position.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve sat so quietly under the sky, gazing at the stars above.”

Peroy tilted her head back, her eyes fixed on the heavens.

Indeed, not only Peroy, but Eileen herself had never experienced such a moment. The stars above the Sky Fantasy Island seemed to shine even brighter, perhaps because they were so much closer to the celestial expanse.

“Peroy, you’ll catch a cold if you sleep outside!”

Eileen rose from her chair. They had been chatting briefly about Faltis, and by the time Eileen came back to herself, she realized Peroy had already drifted off to sleep.

Eileen retrieved a blanket from the room and gently draped it over Peroy.

Initially, Eileen had considered carrying Peroy inside, but it felt a little impolite, perhaps too intimate. Well, Peroy was a bit tsundere, but that was normal for a Dragonkin, Eileen understood. Then again, it was also a little rude.

Eileen looked towards the Tree of Origin. The sun was gradually rising, its rays piercing through the clouds to illuminate the ancient tree.

The meeting had already begun. All Dragonkin who had approached the Tree of Origin were compelled to leave, and no one was permitted entry during the proceedings.

“So, we’ve been talking for quite a while, haven’t we? The sky’s already bright, and I didn’t even notice,” Eileen stretched languidly. “Another night without sleep, but I feel surprisingly good.”

Eileen’s mental state remained excellent. As long as she wasn’t tormented throughout the night, she could likely go without sleep for several consecutive days without issue.

‘I wonder what kind of food Peroy likes to eat.’ Eileen gazed at the sleeping Peroy. ‘Never mind, I’ll just prepare a variety.’

Approximately two hours later.

Peroy opened her eyes, finding herself still in the lounge chair on the balcony.

A blanket lay draped over her, yet she had no recollection of ever getting it herself. It could only have been Eileen who brought it.

Last night, she had spoken quite a bit with Eileen, discovering that Eileen was surprisingly good at conversation.

‘But how did I end up falling asleep here?’

Peroy sat up, looking around.

Before she could even fully turn her head, she spotted a silver figure.

“Peroy, how did you rest last night?” Eileen inquired.

“It was alright,” Peroy replied, sitting up to see the table laden with an array of food.

“Since I wasn’t sure what kind of food you prefer, I prepared a little extra,” Eileen explained.

‘A little extra?’ The breakfast spread was far more lavish than the samples Eileen had tasted downstairs yesterday.

“Your toiletries have also been prepared for you. Please,” Eileen said, stepping aside.

Peroy was unaccustomed to such attentive service. In the Red Dragon territory, she had always been a solitary individual.

After a quick wash, Peroy sat at the dining table, staring at the abundant food before her, unsure where to begin. “Won’t this be too wasteful?”

“Don’t worry, Peroy, nothing will go to waste. If worst comes to worst, I’ll eat it all myself,” Eileen assured her.

“You certainly have a good appetite,” Peroy remarked, picking up a random pastry. Its taste was as delicious as ever.

‘Is Faltis’s daily life always like this?’ Peroy’s gaze drifted towards the distant Tree of Origin.

“The meeting has already begun. Last time, it lasted five days. I wonder how long it will take this time?” Eileen mused.

“This time, I have a feeling it will be quicker than the last, and it’s highly likely to displease many,” Peroy stated.

“Is that so? If it’s quick, that means I won’t have to be your maid for very long then,” Eileen said.

Once the meeting concluded and Faltis returned, Eileen would naturally resume her duties by Faltis’s side.

Peroy’s mood seemed to sour, and she turned to head downstairs.

After quickly preserving the breakfast on the table with magic, Eileen followed her.

Trailing behind Peroy, Eileen noticed just how large Peroy’s tail was. It seemed even grander than Faltis’s, a fiery red plume swaying behind her, inciting an urge to embrace it.

‘Perhaps this is why others also want to hug my tail when they see it.’

‘So, there’s a sea here too.’

Eileen gazed at the ocean, lost in thought.

Eileen had never truly taken the time to observe the sea. The only other occasion she had been near it was to combat the Dragonkin that emerged from its depths, leaving her no leisure to appreciate its beauty.

“Have you never seen the sea before?” Peroy asked, looking at Eileen.

“I suppose not! Before, I only passed by in a hurry and never truly looked closely. Thank you, Peroy!” Eileen squatted down, untied her shoes, and placed her bare feet on the sand.

Eileen’s bare feet shuffled across the beach, making a soft ‘shhh-shhh-shhh’ sound.

Peroy watched Eileen, seemingly puzzled as to why she had removed her shoes.

“Peroy, would you like to try it too? It’s a wonderful feeling,” Eileen said. She had actually learned this from others, but found the sensation truly unique – a cool, ticklish feeling on her soles.

“I don’t need to—”

“Hehe,” Eileen chuckled, extending her hand.

This gesture caused Peroy’s impending refusal to transform into acceptance. She didn’t quite understand why she had agreed.

Nevertheless, the sensation of bare feet on the sand seemed rather pleasant.

“Peroy, be careful! There are many shells on the beach. If you’re not careful, you might get cut—”

“Fool. I don’t even know what kind of shell could possibly cut a Dragonkin’s skin,” Peroy retorted, taking two steps forward to stand at the water’s edge, where the waves gently lapped at her feet.

“Eileen, what do you think lies beyond the sea?” Peroy asked.

“Flying is forbidden here, so you haven’t been there either, Peroy?”
