Chapter 9: A Genius in Disguise, and a Familiar Embrace

After their meal, Felicia’s small feet, encased in white ankle boots, carried her along the expansive corridor.

Felicia understood that earning Seraphina’s trust would not be achieved in a single day. Nevertheless, a pang of disappointment was unavoidable each time she faced rejection.

Suddenly, she paused mid-stride, a crucial realization dawning upon her.

“Anna?” Felicia called out tentatively.

“Miss Felicia, I am here,” a voice replied.

The voice emanated from behind Felicia, yet Anna herself remained unseen this time.

‘Hmm, Anna is also someone I need to keep an eye on,’ Felicia mused. This thought had crossed her mind more than once.

Felicia now prepared to make her way to the library.

Of course, to prevent a repeat of the morning’s events, she had no intention of reading there. Instead, she planned to take the books back to her room.

However, she would need to ask Taosu for permission first.

Lost in thought, Felicia found herself at the library’s entrance before she knew it. She pushed open the door and stepped inside.

“Taosu, could you come out for a moment?” Felicia requested.

“At your service, my master.” Taosu materialized before Felicia, her hands delicately lifting the hem of her skirt as she bowed.

Taosu’s movements were somewhat unpracticed, suggesting this was likely her first time performing such a gesture.

Incidentally, Taosu was currently clad in a black and white maid outfit, her legs encased in white stockings.

“Ahem…” Felicia’s cheeks flushed crimson.

Felicia found herself thinking, inexplicably, that compared to the mature elder sister type like Anna, the loli-esque Taosu had a far greater impact on her.

She distinctly remembered Taosu wearing a pink skirt the last time she appeared. Why the change of clothes this time?

“By the way, Taosu, what’s with this outfit and this pose?” Felicia inquired, her curiosity piqued.

“Oh, this? I recently asked Lady Anna about it. She said it would make Master happy,” Taosu replied cheerfully.

“Taosu, perhaps you should change back into your original clothes next time?”

“Why? Does Master not think Taosu looks good like this?” Taosu clutched the hem of her maid dress, looking as if she were on the verge of tears.

“Uh…” Felicia frowned. She was utterly hopeless at comforting girls!

After a moment’s thought, Felicia decided it was best to appease Taosu for now.

“No, no, it’s fine. I think you look quite good like this, Taosu…”

“Yay!” Taosu appeared extraordinarily excited, flitting about in mid-air.

“I was so caught up in chatting, I nearly forgot the main reason! Did Master come here to read books?”

“Well, yes and no,” Felicia clarified, organizing her thoughts. “I’d like to take a few books back to my room to read. Is that allowed?”

“Of course! Given your relationship with Lady Seraphina, there would be no issue even if you took all the books from here!”

If it were up to her, Felicia would prefer to have no connection with Seraphina whatsoever.

“Which books would you like to take?” Taosu asked.

“Let me think… Ah, right, which book records the art of invisibility?”

Felicia still remembered her intention to learn invisibility; she couldn’t forget that.

“Invisibility is a Dark Elemental Magic within Elemental Magic, considered a basic spell,” Taosu explained.

“Then please get me three books,” Felicia said, counting on her fingers. “The one I was reading before, a book on basic magic, and one on basic Dark Elemental Magic.”

“Understood!” Taosu nodded.

Felicia didn’t have to wait long. Soon, Taosu handed the three books to Felicia.

Watching Taosu’s small frame carry the large books, Felicia once again felt a wave of emotion.

“Thanks.” Felicia took the three books and returned to her small room.

She opened the first book: *The Study of Magic: From Beginner to Burial*.

‘What kind of ridiculous name is this?’ Felicia silently grumbled, then turned to the first page.

The book stated that to cast magic, one must first sense mana, then circulate it within the body to form a mana circuit.

Felicia suddenly recalled the time she cast the Water Mirror, feeling as if something had coursed through her body.

‘So that was a mana circuit.’

‘Wait a minute, I can use magic without any instruction. Does that mean… I’m a once-in-a-million genius?!’

Felicia couldn’t help but feel overjoyed, followed by a dizzying sense of elation. In terms of her home world, Felicia was completely full of herself.

At this moment, Felicia felt that her chances of retaliating against Seraphina had just significantly increased.

With her cheat-like abilities and innate genius, why couldn’t she defeat Seraphina?

Overthrowing Seraphina was only a matter of time!

The latter part of the book introduced many types of magic, such as Elemental Magic, Ancient Magic, Mental Magic, and so on.

Felicia glanced through it, found it lacking in substance, and tossed it aside, reaching for the next book.

*The Study and Use of Basic Dark Elemental Magic*.

Following the table of contents, Felicia turned to page thirty-eight, where the art of invisibility was described.

“Sense mana, form a mana circuit, use magic…”

Just as Felicia was about to attempt to quickly master invisibility, the door opened.

“Hmm?” Felicia looked up to see Seraphina standing in the doorway.

“It’s so late, why haven’t you come over yet?” Seraphina asked, a frown creasing her brow.

“So late?” Felicia noted the crucial part of Seraphina’s words and looked back.

Through the window, she saw the sun about to set. Calculating the time, it was at least half an hour later than Seraphina had indicated.

Seraphina was about to say more, but noticing the books in Felicia’s hands, a new idea sparked within her.

“What, are you studying magic? Would you like me to teach you?” Seraphina walked over and sat beside Felicia.

Felicia edged away, but Seraphina followed every inch, until Felicia had nowhere left to retreat.

This scene felt eerily familiar to Felicia.

This moment, precisely like that moment.

“No, no need. What if I’m a genius at learning magic?” Felicia suddenly stood up.

She intended to divert Seraphina’s attention, as her intuition, honed by Seraphina’s frequent bullying, told Felicia that this woman was definitely not thinking of anything good right now.

“It’s getting late. How about we go eat first, and then…?”

Felicia was a little nervous now. If one paid close attention, they would notice her body trembling.

Every moment she could stall was a victory. What if, by dragging it out, Seraphina simply forgot her intentions?

That was Felicia’s plan.

“Dinner can wait, but the education of a young dragon cannot be neglected~”

Felicia, who had just stood up, was abruptly seized by Seraphina and pulled into her embrace, in a position almost identical to the one in the library that morning.
